505: Zhang, come home often~

After one hundred and sixteen hours of high-speed flight, Chen Heng and Liu Ye finally gave up.

The two hovered in the vacuum of the Universe, looking at the still distant Dead Star with some regret.

"It's a pity we don't have too much time to waste, otherwise, we could really calculate the maximum speed you can reach."

"But I can roughly calculate the speed, it's just not as accurate."

"The maximum speed you could reach in a vacuum just now was far less than the speed of light, only reaching twenty-nine thousand kilometers per second."

"Which is roughly one-tenth of the speed of light, I suppose..."

Liu Ye sighed with some disappointment. It seemed unrealistic to reach the speed of light or achieve interstellar travel through purely acceleration methods.

"Can we only consider wormholes then...?"

"Why are you more disappointed than me?" Chen Heng raised an eyebrow; he couldn't be more satisfied with the current speed.

This speed could already be called instant movement; ordinary people couldn't capture Chen Heng's trace at all.

"Ah, do you know why I've been researching interstellar travel?"

"You should have also seen the interstellar immigrant ship I left for you, right?"

"Its speed isn't actually fast, but its functions are very complete."

"Self-sufficiency is absolutely no problem; it can completely serve as another habitable planet to live on."

"It's enough for the Human Race to multiply and thrive within it until they find the next habitable planet."

Liu Ye pointed to the distant, brilliant nebula.

"See that nebula in the distance?"

"My current goal is to reach there. After calculation, there's a high probability of a habitable planet there."

"But this is just a small goal of mine; my true goal is actually to go home."

"I don't know what year you came, but I arrived in this world on December 31st, 2022."

"I was summer of '23." Chen Heng recalled; that day he was drinking and bragging with his buddies.

"You see, there's less than half a year between you and me, so my family must still be looking for me."

Liu Ye let out a long breath upon hearing the time of Chen Heng's Transmigration; a huge weight in his heart was finally lifted.

"It's not that I don't love this world; the achievements I've gained here are far, far greater than back home.

"But my family is still waiting for me there; I want to go back and see them."

"Even if I have to pay a great price, I won't hesitate."

"And then, if I hadn't come back from the future to this point in time, your final outcome would have been to perish with the Origin."

Chen Heng was a bit puzzled; since he wanted to go home, why would he do such a thing?

"I can't just let it be." Liu Ye shook his head.

"Whether it's back home or here, I can't let go."

"This world has the race I created; they revere me as a god."

"When the world faces a catastrophe of destruction, the only ones who can stand up are the brave or the gods."

"This world has no brave ones, nor any 'gods' in the true sense."

"So, only I can stand up."

"Although, from your description, I didn't completely end the disaster brought by the Origin."

"But I still allowed this world to continue to be full of vitality, even if the Origin would eventually revive."

Liu Ye shrugged, as if none of it mattered.

"Don't worry, I will end all of this." Chen Heng patted Liu Ye's shoulder.

"Oh, and when you go home to visit, take me with you. I also want to go back and see."

"You?" Liu Ye looked Chen Heng up and down.

After spending this time together, Liu Ye was no longer as afraid of Chen Heng as before.

The two were originally Fellow Countrymen, so naturally, they became much more relaxed with each other.

"What about me?" Chen Heng was a bit confused; there was nothing wrong with him wanting to go home and see, right?

"Nothing, we'll go together when it's time to go home."

Liu Ye nodded. He was initially worried that Chen Heng's temper would cause trouble upon returning.

But on second thought, given Chen Heng's strength, those troubles wouldn't even count as troubles; at most, they'd be minor interludes.

"Did you Transmigrate with your body or your soul?"

Liu Ye suddenly remembered an important question and turned to look at Chen Heng.

"Soul Transmigration, and you?"

Chen Heng didn't realize the significance of Liu Ye's question and answered instinctively.

"I Transmigrated with my body, so your current body..."

"..." Chen Heng.

"Let's not talk about this for now; let's solve the Origin first."

"As for what happened to my old body, that's a matter for later."

The boat will naturally straighten when it reaches the bridge; future matters can be discussed later. Solving the urgent and critical matter at hand is the Righteous Path.

"Exactly. If we don't solve the Origin, whether there's a future at all is debatable."

Chen Heng and Liu Ye bumped fists. Liu Ye reattached himself to Chen Heng, waiting for Chen Heng to take off.

"What are you doing?" Chen Heng looked at Liu Ye on him with a puzzled expression. Why did this guy suddenly cling to him?

"Huh? Aren't we going back?" Liu Ye was also stunned.

"Who said we're flying back? I remember your base's coordinates. Isn't it better to just Transmigrate directly back?"

"Ah, I forgot..."

...A few minutes later, Chen Heng and Liu Ye returned to the base.

"Where is this?" Liu Ye looked at the vast sea of blood before him, his brain immediately crashing.

"This should be your laboratory, right?"

Chen Heng rubbed his chin; his memory was still very good, not to the point of being off.

"Then what's going on here?"

Liu Ye was dumbfounded. He just went out for a trip, and how did his laboratory turn into this ghostly mess?

"Wait a minute, sea of blood..."

Liu Ye suddenly recalled the blood tests and examinations he had performed on Chen Heng a few days ago.

It seemed, he should have, possibly forgotten to dispose of that extremely aggressive drop of blood.
