60: Help me soar to the heavens!

At Dacian Temple, before the golden Buddha statue.

The once peaceful and serene Hall of Great Heroes had become a blood pool reeking of gore.

Even the benevolent Buddha statue was smeared with fresh blood, making it appear exceptionally sinister.

Several grotesque figures with distorted bodies and disproportionately large heads were carving something in the center of the Hall of Great Heroes.

“Faster, faster,” the leader of the strange figures muttered.

“The White Tiger Hall will be here soon; quickly summon the True God!”

Around them, twenty to thirty pilgrims who had come to offer incense and worship Buddha were tied up.

Only three of them were adult males; the rest were all children and women.

These people were the sacrifices these monsters offered to the Wutong God.

Commonly known as human sacrifices.

They looked at the Formation in the center of the Hall of Great Heroes with despair, but were utterly helpless to resist.

All they could do was whimper and wait for a miracle to happen.

“Heh heh heh, thirty-three human sacrifices, corresponding to the thirty-three heavens.”

The leading strange figure cackled, looking at the sacrifices with eyes like they were livestock.

“Great God Wutong, help me ascend to the clouds!”

“I will eternally serve the True God in the thirty-three heavens!”

The surrounding sacrifices trembled even more violently upon hearing this.

“Elder Wu Qi, the ascension Formation has been set up. Shall we begin the ascension ritual now?”

A few minutes later, the EvilFormation constructed from blood was ready.

“Let us begin.”

Wu Qi lay in the center of the Formation, allowing the surrounding blood to engulf him.

“Wuwuwu…”

A strange yet rhythmic prayer sounded, and the eight cult members formed a circle around the blood pool Formation.

The blood pool began to squirm amidst the prayers, and countless bloodworms made of blood burrowed into Wu Qi’s body.

“I feel it, I feel the call of the True God.”

Wu Qi’s body became increasingly distorted, and his expression grew more frantic.

Beneath the thin layer of skin, one could even see those repulsive worms.

Wu Qi seemed to feel no pain, wantonly enjoying the sensation of these worms gnawing at his body.

“I will ascend to the clouds…”

Wu Qi was halfway through his chant when a loud bang erupted from the entrance of Dacian Temple.

Before the cult members could react, the heavy main door of the Hall of Great Heroes was kicked open.

With a crash, the door, like a cannonball, directly decapitated the blood-covered Buddha statue.

“Are you the monsters of the Wutong Sect?”

Chen Heng stood at the entrance, carrying his black fiend blade, and surveyed the interior of the Hall of Great Heroes.

“Who are you? Where are our people outside?” One of the cult members glared at Chen Heng, drawing a pitch-black dagger from his waist.

“You mean, these guys?”

Chen Heng casually grabbed a still-steaming human head from his waistband.

The head’s eyes were wide open, and even with only half a jaw remaining, one could see how terrified he was before his death.

“Third Brother!” The cult member wailed, grabbing his dagger and lunging forward, but was pulled back by someone beside him.

“Look behind him.” Another person pointed behind Chen Heng, his eyes filled with apprehension.

The cult member looked behind Chen Heng, and his mind instantly buzzed.

They had arranged sixty peripheral cult members throughout Dacian Temple; now, not a single one was alive.

Outside the Hall of Great Heroes, countless headless and bisected corpses lay scattered.

The entire Dacian Temple was like a bloody purgatory.

“It should just be you few left, right?” Chen Heng sized up the group, then looked at the bound human sacrifices beside them.

“Tsk, your evil cult is really something.”

“You guys stop him; we’ll speed up the ritual!”

The four cult members nodded, each drawing a black dagger from their waist and charging forward.

Their figures were like phantoms, darting around Chen Heng like fleas.

To be honest, speed wasn’t something Chen Heng was good at.

He had always wanted to learn a movement technique, but was always interrupted by other miscellaneous matters.

Although Chen Heng couldn’t keep up with their speed, their attacks landing on him felt similar to mosquito bites.

A group of highly mobile assassins facing a heavily armored warrior like Chen Heng, with high defense and high attack, was practically useless.

Soon, Chen Heng became familiar with the cult members’ attack rhythm and slowly began to grasp their movement patterns.

With a casual grab, Chen Heng seized a cult member’s ankle.

It looked as if the cult member had run into Chen Heng’s hand himself.

“Game over.”

Chen Heng grinned, then forcefully slammed the cult member into the ground.

The hard stone slabs instantly shattered, as did the cult member’s body.

Intestines and guts flew everywhere, and a complete eyeball rolled to Chen Heng’s feet.

Tossing the half-leg in his hand aside, Chen Heng began his one-sided slaughter.

These cult members, who could easily slaughter ordinary Martial Artists, were no match for Chen Heng.

Once their attack rhythm was mastered, only death awaited them.

In less than thirty seconds, the four cult members sent to stop Chen Heng were all dead.

Chen Heng wiped the blood from his face and stepped towards the blood pool.

“Quick, throw the sacrifices into the blood pool!”

Wu Qi saw that the cult members couldn’t stop Chen Heng at all, and couldn’t help but feel anxious.

He had actually learned that the Five Spirits Gang would be purging them, which was why he had brought the sacrifice forward.

But he hadn’t expected the person coming to purge them to be so powerful!

The cult members participating in the ritual here had all undergone a blessing; ordinary Transformation Realm Martial Artists were no match for them.

Now, they couldn’t even stop that person’s advance!

Before the remaining cult members could react, Chen Heng stomped hard, rushing towards Wu Qi like a cannonball.

A flash of blade light, and the remaining cult members, who had just reached out for the human sacrifices, had their heads severed by Chen Heng.

“Tsk tsk tsk, it should just be you left, right?”

Chen Heng stood by the blood pool, looking at Wu Qi, who lay in the center, unable to move.

“Hurry up and finish, time to go home and drink medicine.”

Chen Heng lifted his foot, intending to step into the blood pool, but the blood pool seemed alive and blocked him.

“Damn it…”

Wu Qi climbed out from the center of the blood pool, his distorted face glaring at Chen Heng.

“I was only one step away from ascension, and you dare to ruin my plans!”

“I’ll turn you into an ascension pill!”

With a loud bang, the entire blood pool instantly boiled and exploded.

Countless bloodworms burrowed into Wu Qi’s body, making his body almost transparent.

“Great God Wutong! Grant me Divine Power!”

A violent stench tore apart the entire Hall of Great Heroes, and the surrounding human sacrifices were blown away by the stench, disappearing without a trace.

“First Form! Tiger Roar!”

Chen Heng was not the type to wait for his enemy to finish transforming before attacking. He charged forward, enduring the stench.

The deafening Tiger Roar tore a rift in the stench, and a blade strike landed on Wu Qi’s almost exploding body.

“Ah! It hurts so much!”

A strange, gender-ambiguous scream rang out, and a huge wound appeared on Wu Qi’s body.

A massive number of bloodworms gushed out, quickly repairing the deep, bone-visible wound.
