Chapter 70 Livestock Farm - Blood Animals
Besides the area, what else did these people mention about blood livestock?
Last night, she discovered she was having her blood drawn, and it was even blue. She initially thought this place was a human experimentation lab, that her player character was some kind of anomaly among humans, captured for experiments, and her game task was to escape.
But now, it seems that's not the case. blood livestock? What an insulting term. Damn it.
They also mentioned something about taking medicine, about natural instincts being worn down. No wonder everything felt so hazy upon arrival, and she didn't dare fight back even when hit.
Moreover, the dormitory door locks are so rudimentary. They truly don't see those locked up as human, not worrying at all about them overstepping any boundaries.
It's clear she's being raised like livestock now. Bai Xiao could practically curse. She's really become a beast of burden.
...
Returning to the dormitory at night, four glasses of milk were already placed on the table. Bai Xiao suspected the medicine the cafeteria staff mentioned might be hidden in the usual meals or the milk. During meals, the Administrator was always there supervising, making it impossible not to eat, and she had nowhere to hide the food. She could only endure for now and eat.
However, the evening milk was placed in advance, and there was no Administrator overseeing the dormitory. Only during patrols before lights out would the Administrator check if they had drunk it.
Her roommates picked up their glasses one by one, ready to drink. Seeing no one in the hallway behind her, Bai Xiao grabbed her glass, dragged the table under the window, hoisted herself onto the desktop with a push, and poured the milk out through the slightly opened window.
Her movements were swift. Her roommates, holding their empty milk glasses, stared dumbfounded.
"You dare not drink the milk? I'm telling the Administrator," one of them threatened, seemingly shocked anyone would dare disobey the Administrator, her ingrained subservience making the threat.
Bai Xiao put the table back in place. Hearing this, she looked up at the other girl and threatened back, "If you dare go out and blab, starting tomorrow, my glass of milk gets poured down your throat!"
Hearing she might have to drink another glass of milk, the girl involuntarily touched her already full, rounded belly. Another glass might burst it. She shrank her neck in grievance. "Don't, I won't say anything."
The Administrator had already patrolled nearby and was scolding someone not far away for not finishing their milk. Hearing the noise, the four of them, not wanting trouble, each lay back on their beds to sleep. Soon after, the dormitory lights went out.
After everyone seemed asleep, Bai Xiao listened intently to the outside. She waited a long time, but there was no movement. Today might not be a blood draw day. She couldn't wait any longer. She still needed to take advantage of the night to go out and investigate.
She got up quietly, arranged her bedding to look like someone was sleeping, then peered outside through the door and window.
Confirming the hallway was truly empty, she took out a weapon from her backpack. Inserting the sword tip into the door gap, she pried it sideways with force. With a click, the latch opened.
Bai Xiao opened the door a crack and peeked out. Using the faintly glowing small red lights in the hallway, she looked into the distance. The hallway was indeed unpatrolled. It seemed the Administrator might patrol on a schedule, not constantly.
She quietly went upstairs, planning to climb out from a classroom at the end of the hallway to check the Administrator's dorm and the two sealed rooms on the First Floor.
The building's exterior was smooth, with no footholds. Only about two or three meters away was a thick pipe running from the roof down, looking like a rain pipe.
The position was a bit far, but there was no other way. Only that pipe ran the entire length of the building.
She looked down. The fourth floor was still quite high. If she could open a storage slot and find a safety rope, it would be much easier. Unfortunately, there was no 'if'.
She could only grip the windowsill with one hand, flip her body out, plant her feet against the wall, and slowly swing herself like a pendulum. Her body swung farther and farther, almost to the limit of her reach, but she was still half a meter short of the rain pipe. Gritting her teeth, she pulled back sharply, then swung with force again, using the forward momentum to let her other hand grab the rain pipe.
*Huff.* Bai Xiao exhaled a breath of stale air, her hands and feet clinging tightly to the rain pipe. She adjusted her posture, hands still gripping the pipe, knees bent, feet braced against the wall. Like gripping a rappelling rope, she climbed down the pipe.
Her body, having consumed the enhancement potion, had much greater endurance than before. From swinging out the window to the pipe, to now climbing down, it all relied on arm strength. With her old body, she couldn't have even taken the first step swinging from the window. Bai Xiao marveled once more at the potion's wonders.
She hadn't descended many meters before reaching outside the Administrator's window. Their windows were indeed better than the ordinary dorm rooms, large like the classroom ones.
But the nearest room's window showed no light inside; it was dark. She didn't know if someone was there or not. If someone was inside, swinging over and making noise to alert them wouldn't be good. Not having fully investigated this place yet, Bai Xiao didn't want to cause too much commotion. She decided to give up for now and find another opportunity later.
She continued sliding down to the First Floor. There was no need to cling to windowsills here. Bai Xiao descended directly to the ground. The two locked rooms were pitch black inside. Their windows weren't the large classroom type but small ones like the dorms, slightly opened outward.
Unlike the smooth interior, the outside had usable windowsills. This area was quieter, near the perimeter wall. To be precise, except for the central iron gate where guards were posted, other areas were unpatrolled.
Bai Xiao backed up about five meters, took a running start, used the wall for leverage to flip up, and successfully grabbed the outward-jutting windowsill with both hands. She pushed hard with her arms, hoisting her upper body over the sill. By the moonlight on the First Floor, she could roughly make out the room's outline.
The room wasn't large. Against the walls near the door were two long, large cabinets with glass fronts. But with only faint moonlight, she couldn't see what was inside clearly.
She could vaguely see small boxes inside the cabinet opposite. The other cabinet's contents were completely out of view due to the angle.
Besides the cabinets, there was only a large iron chair near the window.
Bai Xiao couldn't figure out the chair's purpose. If it was for sitting, who would sit alone on such an iron chair in a room? If it was a torture device, there was nothing else around. How would torture work?
The other room was even stranger. Only a few cart-like boxes were lined up against the wall. The light was too dim for Bai Xiao to see the boxes' details.
After looking around, neither room seemed to have anything particularly special. But given their unusual furnishings, Bai Xiao thought they must serve some special purpose. She just hadn't seen them in use, making it hard to figure out immediately.
Having made the effort to come down, Bai Xiao didn't want to leave just yet. She crept along the wall toward the center, wanting to check the situation near the iron gate.
Unfortunately, the large lawn offered a clear view with little cover. Only a few external units outside the kitchen could provide some hiding. Bai Xiao hid behind a large external unit, observing the guards.
There were six people total in front of the iron gate, three on each side. Each had a weapon hanging on their chest that looked like a gun but not quite.
Perhaps because the zone had been peaceful for so long, their guard was very lax. Bai Xiao saw some were so tired they were swaying, and the squad leader didn't even bother.
She considered the possibility of escaping through the iron gate now. If it were just those six, her chances would be relatively good. But she didn't know the power of the weapons they carried. Plus, the iron gate was clearly locked. She didn't know if these guards had keys. If she failed once and alerted them, escaping later would only be harder.
After much thought, Bai Xiao decided to first understand this place better before acting. She sat behind the external unit, planning to observe their patrol patterns. But until the early hours of the morning, no one came to relieve them.
Seeing that dawn was only about two hours away, she couldn't stay any longer. Otherwise, returning via the pipe after daybreak would be far too conspicuous.
