Chapter 79 Live Animal Park - Riot

Not wanting to wait for the elevator and wishing to avoid being caught by more cameras, Bai Xiao chose to take the stairs. The alarm blared just as she reached the fourth floor. Moments later, through the gaps in the stairwell, she saw a team of Security Personnel in full tactical gear heading downstairs.

Something happened!

She quickly descended to the second floor. The corridor there was empty. She didn't know the severity level of the alarm, but everyone had suddenly vanished. Only two guards remained on duty inside the security room.

Bai Xiao moved swiftly down the hall and found the security room. She saw one person with their back to the door, busy with something, while another was resting on a chair against the wall.

Seeing a waitress enter, the man said in surprise, "The Level 2 Alarm has sounded. All non-security and Guard Team staff must return to their respective break rooms. Wandering around is prohibited. You..." Why are you here?

As he spoke, Bai Xiao had already moved. Her momentum upon entering didn't slacken; she stepped onto a low cabinet by the door, launched herself into the air, and went straight for the man's face. She locked her legs around his neck, twisted, and then flipped to land in front of the other person, who had just turned around from the door.

Only after she landed did a thud echo behind her as the man who had been speaking collapsed unconscious. The man in front of her had only managed to raise his weapon halfway when Bai Xiao's sword was already drawn, pointing directly at his throat.

“I advise you not to make any sudden moves, or we'll see if you're faster with your gun or I am with my sword,” Bai Xiao said coldly.

The man swallowed hard. “You’re not a waitress? Who are you?”

Bai Xiao let out a short scoff. Most people in danger failed to grasp their situation and couldn't tell who held the cards, asking questions that others would never answer. “What does a Level 2 Alarm mean? What happened in the park? Why did the security team from Area A leave?”

The series of three questions made the man realize that Bai Xiao was indeed not a waitress, nor even an employee of the park. In all his years on the job, nothing like this had ever happened. He was startled. “You’re not from the park!”

Truly someone who wouldn't shed a tear until they saw the coffin.

Bai Xiao retracted the tip of her sword slightly, then slashed downward with lightning speed, neatly carving two deep, thin gashes across the man's wrists.

She was so fast that the man only felt the intense pain a moment later. Blood poured from his wrists like pillars of rain, and he could no longer hold his Electric Bullet Gun. As the gun hit the floor, he let out a sharp, agonized howl.

Bai Xiao rested her sword against his neck again and asked softly, “Have you thought about how to answer? My patience is very limited.”

The man frantically didn't know whether to cover his left wrist or his right. Unable to figure it out, he had no choice but to answer, “A Level 2 Alarm means a large-scale but still controllable riot has occurred in the park. Upon hearing the alarm, the Guard Team must deploy immediately. Aside from the riot zone, security teams from other areas must also send a squad to help suppress the disturbance. All other uninvolved personnel must retreat to their break rooms to avoid the chaos.”

“Which area is rioting now?”

“Area C.”

“Is it the Blue-Blood Breakers again?”

“Yes.”

“Today isn't a Blood Collection Day. Why is Area C rioting?”

“I heard there have been more and more Breakers lately. The last collection didn't meet the quota, so they're doing a supplementary collection today.”

Bai Xiao nodded in understanding and struck the man's temple with the hilt of her sword, using unconsciousness to ease the pain of his bleeding.

She found some rope in the room, tied the two of them together, gagged them, and tossed them aside. By now, there was no longer any need to hide the people she had injured.

Firstly, she couldn't impersonate two identities by herself. Secondly, the park was currently in chaos; if she slipped in during the confusion, it would be difficult to trace her movements in the short term.

Bai Xiao rummaged through the storage cabinets in the room and changed into a security uniform that roughly fit her build. Besides the ammunition clips equipped at her waist, she scavenged more to hide on her person. Then, she took an Electric Bullet Gun and headed straight out of the building.

Tonight would likely involve a fight.

She came out late, and the large transport trucks for the security teams had already left. Only the slower, small patrol cars remained. Anyone who knew how to drive could figure out how to operate these with a bit of tinkering.

If she ran at full speed, she would be faster than the patrol car, but after some thought, she gave up on running and drove instead. After all, she wasn't rushing to help; it was just a means of transport. She didn't need to be very fast, and it would save her energy.

The roads in the park were full of twists and turns that could leave a newcomer dizzy, but since Bai Xiao had moved between areas multiple times, she naturally remembered the way.

To get to a lower-tier area, one had to pass through the higher-tier areas. In other words, to reach Area D, one had to pass through Area C.

As she approached Area C, she didn't know what it looked like inside the buildings yet, but from a distance, Bai Xiao could see that things had already turned chaotic outside. It seemed two groups were in a firefight.

The closer she got, the clearer the sounds of shouting, running, and electricity piercing through the air and human bodies became. All of Area C was a complete mess.

Didn't they say a Level 2 Alarm meant the riot was basically controllable? This was clearly not a one-sided situation.

It looked very much like some Breakers had also seized guns and were fighting their way out of the Area C buildings.

Just as she thought this, a more urgent alarm began to ring throughout the entire park. This was clearly a Level 1 Alarm; the situation had become even more critical.

Bai Xiao decisively abandoned the car. Since there was only this one road to Area D, she would have to pass through the firefight ahead. If she left the car, she could take a longer route through the landscaped areas. Under the cover of night, she ran at full speed with her gun.

There were about eight buildings in Area D. Likely because everyone had been sent to the blood collection area, Area D was peaceful.

She returned to the main road. Passing Building 2, she suddenly thought of something and went back to Building 1. She used the Electric Bullet Gun to destroy the main door lock with a few shots and kicked the door open. She did the same for the remaining buildings.

It wasn't that she was overflowing with saintly compassion for the stranger Blue-Bloods, but by destroying the gates of the breeding area, it would be easier for any Breakers who wanted to break their confinement and leave. After all, the more chaotic the park was, the more advantageous it was for players. She was also helping herself.

However, making such a loud noise would attract the Administrators inside. But tonight, the vast majority had gone to Area C for the collection, leaving only two or three in each building. She was carrying a powerful Electric Bullet Gun from the highest-tier Area A, the same as the park's Guard Team. Dealing with a few Administrators armed only with stun batons and stun guns was incredibly easy.

After destroying the main doors of all the buildings in Area D, Bai Xiao returned to Building 5, where she had been staying.

The iron gate of Building 5 was wide open. The Administrator she had downed with a single shot lay on the ground, life or death unknown. Bai Xiao went straight to the First Floor and used the same method to break the door lock, checking if the person in the crate truck was still there.

The person in the first truck had been dealt with early and was gone. The person in the second truck was still there. The third truck contained the Administrator she had killed; whether they were there or not didn't matter, so Bai Xiao didn't check.

Confirming the person in the second truck was still there, Bai Xiao breathed a sigh of relief. Although using someone else's life to aid her escape was indeed not good, she had no medicine to save this person who had fallen into a deep coma from a Purifying Potion injection. Secondly, one could only say that in this situation, it was every man for himself.

She sighed, noting how her heart grew harder with every game. If it were in the past, she would have had a mental struggle, but now...
