Chapter 76 Live-Fed Farm - Han Yu
After asking the questions that had been accumulating in her mind over the past few days, Bai Xiao finally gained a general understanding of this world.
However, she still had one doubt about the park: the Administrator mentioned the Blue-Bloods breaking restrictions. She could understand that breaking restrictions referred to the Blue-Bloods overcoming the drug limitations and regaining normal human consciousness. What she didn't understand was why those who broke restrictions had to be disposed of. Weren't the Blue-Bloods more valuable alive to continuously produce blood?
The woman couldn't answer this question; after all, she wasn't from the park.
Ding-dong, ding-dong—
The abrupt ringing of a doorbell sounded. Hearing it, the woman's eyes lit up as if seeing a glimmer of hope for rescue.
Bai Xiao knew that her prolonged absence from the team in Zone D wouldn't go unnoticed. The accompanying Administrators surely wouldn't dare to hide it and must have reported it. Most likely, the people who arrived were the search party.
Bai Xiao re-gagged the woman, who had originally been neatly tied to the bed, and covered her with a blanket as a simple disguise.
The room was small, with nowhere to hide. If the search team insisted on entering to search, she would have to let them in first and deal with them inside.
However, doing so would mean the search team failed to return from the Hotel floor, clearly indicating an attack. Their current location would soon be completely exposed.
The situation hadn't escalated yet, which Bai Xiao guessed upon opening the door and seeing only two people dressed as Security Personnel.
The Hotel floor, especially the suite level where Bai Xiao was and above, housed important clients of the park. Ordinary park employees wouldn't dare to offend them lightly.
"Hello, guest. Sorry to disturb you for a moment. The park has requested us to conduct a small survey. Recently, some untrained new employees have been working outside their assigned posts, causing quite a bit of trouble. Have you been disturbed?"
Bai Xiao shook her head.
"Have you noticed any suspicious behavior from employees?"
"No."
"Sorry for the disturbance." The two Security Personnel apologized politely, exchanged a barely noticeable glance, shook their heads slightly, and turned to leave.
Bai Xiao watched them walk away and breathed a sigh of relief. They were safe for now.
But she knew this safety wouldn't last long. Since it was only a missing employee, not a major incident, they were currently only in the inquiry stage. If no results were found in Zone B and below today, or if the Team Leader in Zone D discovered the body in the processing room that didn't die from an injection, the situation would escalate. By then, her identity as a Blue-Blood who broke restrictions impersonating an Administrator would be exposed, and the search efforts would undoubtedly intensify.
She could handle a few people coming to this suite, but if a group arrived, the nature of the situation would change—it would be like being trapped in a jar.
They couldn't stay here for long. Thinking this, she quickly returned to the bedroom and removed the gag from the woman's mouth.
Seeing it was still Bai Xiao, the woman couldn't help but show disappointment in her eyes.
Bai Xiao had no time to care about her disappointment and continued asking, "What are the plans for today and the next two days?"
"Tonight, there's a park business negotiation banquet. The invitees are all park clients or partners. Tomorrow, we'll visit the Blue-Blood breeding area, and the day after, the blood collection area and the laboratory."
"What's the content of the contract you're here to negotiate? What are your demands? Explain it to me in detail."
The woman glanced at the bag beside the table and said, "There's a lot of content. The specific plans are in the documents inside the bag."
Bai Xiao walked over, took out the documents, and flipped through them as she said, "Which room does your superior, Han Yu, live in? What are the divisions of labor between the two of you on this trip? How long have you known each other? What kind of person is he—his personality, hobbies, work style, etc.? And how do you act around him? The more detailed, the better."
"He lives in the presidential suite on the 14th floor. He's the lead on this trip, and I'm his assistant. I've been working for about a year and a half. He's..." The woman paused here, her expression becoming somewhat awkward. "He's young and accomplished, with a decisive and efficient work style. He's charismatic and handsome. I admire him a lot. In front of him..."
The more Bai Xiao listened to her description, the darker her expression became. "You're not his lover, are you?!"
"Of course not," the woman shook her head, then whispered timidly, "I wish I were."
"You admire him? Does he know?" Bai Xiao asked again.
"I do like him, but he probably doesn't know."
"Probably?" Bai Xiao stepped closer, staring directly into her eyes, the threat in her gaze evident.
"He probably doesn't know. I'm not sure. I've never confessed. I just care about him and pay more attention to him than usual. Sometimes, during business trips, he notices I'm working hard and shows some concern, but there's never been any inappropriate behavior!"
The woman's eyes didn't waver at all, showing she wasn't lying. Fortunately, it wasn't that kind of relationship. Bai Xiao felt relieved. That kind of relationship would be too difficult to impersonate. The search outside had already begun, and there was no time to find a new identity.
"What time does the banquet start?"
"Nine-thirty."
"Where is it held? How do we get there?"
"In the banquet hall on the Fifth Floor of Zone A. At nine, I'll go upstairs to pick up Director Han, and then we'll go downstairs together to take the park's special vehicle."
Bai Xiao looked up at the clock on the wall. It was already past eight-thirty. Time was running out. While having the woman continue to provide details, she found a relatively suitable casual blazer from the woman's suitcase. There were also dresses in the suitcase, clearly prepared for the banquet, but she was afraid of unexpected situations. Wearing a dress would ultimately be inconvenient.
At exactly nine o'clock, Bai Xiao, already ready, went to the 14th floor to knock on the door of the woman's superior. But before she could knock, the man opened the door as if sensing her arrival.
He wore a black gilded mask, obscuring his facial features. However, the sharp contours of his face, his long and clean neck, his tall and upright figure, and his cold, stern demeanor were visible. Though his appearance couldn't be seen, it was clear he was indeed as remarkable as the woman had described.
"Why are you dressed like that?" The man's voice was low and slightly hoarse, feeling oddly mismatched with his appearance.
Bai Xiao's hair was slightly shorter than the woman's, but with it pinned up, the difference was unnoticeable. Now, wearing a dark red mask and the woman's clothes, it was genuinely difficult to tell them apart.
She cleared her throat, speaking hoarsely, "I caught a chill while bathing, have a bit of a fever, and my throat is sore. I was afraid wearing too little would make the cold worse, affecting tonight's negotiations, and even more afraid I wouldn't be able to participate in the following days' itinerary."
The man nodded understandingly. "Forget it. Time is almost up. Let's go first."
Bai Xiao, impersonating the woman who was this man's assistant, followed half a step behind and to his left as they went downstairs.
The First Floor was no longer as orderly as when they first arrived; there were many more people dressed as Security Personnel. An additional checkpoint procedure had been added at the entrance.
When they reached the entrance, they were no exception and were stopped with an outstretched hand.
"Please show your park identification."
The two of them took out their respective park ID cards. Seeing their documents were complete, the inspector opened the door and let them pass.
Outside, a luxurious bus, different from the employee shuttle, was parked not far away by the roadside. Most likely, it was exclusive for honored guests. Thinking this, Bai Xiao followed as the man in front of her headed in that direction, feeling reassured.
In a place Bai Xiao couldn't see, the man named Han Yu had, like her, clenched his hand tightly and then suddenly relaxed. For a moment, his expression beneath the mask was tense.
