Chapter 80 Live-Fish Farm - Infiltration

Uncertain of the situation in Zone C's pacification efforts, Bai Xiao knew that if it was successful, the personnel from the various buildings in Zone D would return. Not wanting to linger inside the building, she planned to take shelter for the night on the roof of the small shed outside the gate where the Blue-Bloods transport carts were kept.

The shed was outside the building. From its roof, she could better observe the surroundings. Moreover, the shed had eaves on all sides. If a person lay flat on top, under the cover of darkness, they would be very difficult to spot.

Bai Xiao retreated from the building and walked quickly towards the main gate.

Bang—

The moment her figure appeared within the visible range outside the main gate, a gunshot rang out. A blue electric ball, accompanied by terrifying sparks and the crackle of current, suddenly shot towards her face.

However, Bai Xiao, who had consumed two doses of the enhancement potion, now possessed perception, reaction speed, and agility 2.4 times her original level. Furthermore, the attacker was at least twenty or thirty meters away and wasn't using a real-world firearm. This park used electric pellet guns.

Through her use tonight, Bai Xiao had already figured out that the electric pellet guns here were only designed to temporarily incapacitate people. Their projectile speed was only one-fifth that of a real bullet.

After all, the park could only make money if the Blue-Bloods were alive. The guns they used definitely weren't the kind that could kill instantly. Although Bai Xiao's body hadn't reached the maximum enhancement possible at her current stage, at this distance, even a sneak attack fell within her current reaction time.

The instant she saw the electric ball, before her brain could even issue a clear command, her body had already dodged to the side.

However, even at only one-fifth the speed of a real bullet, it was difficult for an ordinary person to dodge an electric pellet gun unless they could predict it in advance. But this was a sneak attack; dodging it should have been completely impossible. This shock was evident even through the mask of the person who fired.

But what shocked him even more was that Bai Xiao could aim and retaliate against him the very next second after dodging.

This was a man. He was tall and large-framed, with obvious male characteristics. Bai Xiao hadn't expected him to also dodge the electric pellet. She knew her shot wasn't a sneak attack, but for an ordinary person to successfully predict and dodge it, he must at the very least be someone well-trained in daily life. Such a person was either a park expert, a player from the real world with extremely strong physical prowess, or someone who had also consumed the body enhancement potion sold in the Game Mall.

The two faced each other from a distance, guns raised. Both clearly understood that at this range, their weapons posed little threat to the other. Moreover, they had almost already concluded that the other was likely a player; otherwise, they would have long since called for companions to capture them.

However, both were probably people who trusted themselves far more than others. After a moment of tacit, mutual observation, the man outside the gate, seeing the situation, retreated into the distance.

His appearance vaguely reminded Bai Xiao of Han Yu because their height and build were similar.

Regardless of whether it was him or not, Bai Xiao shook her head and stopped dwelling on it. That person had fired suddenly earlier, most likely because, like her, he was a player who had changed clothes. Passing by and seeing her wearing Security Personnel attire, he had mistaken her for a park employee and opened fire.

As she was thinking this, the commotion in the distant Zone C had, at some point, completely ceased.

Bai Xiao flipped over and climbed onto the roof to lie in wait.

After about a quarter of an hour, a convoy of vehicles transporting Blue-Bloods drove back. A group of Administrators got off the vehicles—some limping, some with torn clothes. Their numbers were clearly only half of what Bai Xiao had seen when she first arrived.

Just like before when moving bodies, they unloaded the unawakened Blue-Bloods. The number of Blue-Bloods brought back had directly halved.

Seeing this, Bai Xiao couldn't help but think: didn't that mean the Breakers had all stayed in Zone C? With such a large batch of people, the park certainly wouldn't pass up the chance for purification. They would definitely inject them with the purification serum again, waiting to draw blood before transporting them to the Bone-Burial Island.

But it would take at least another two days. Two days from now would be the final day of her game. She decided to wait until tomorrow to see first if Zone D would proceed as usual with transporting the previously processed Breakers off the island. If not, following the Zone C batch off the island the day after would also be an opportunity.

She was thinking this on the rooftop when the Administrators at the iron gate also discovered the destroyed lock, immediately stirring into nervous agitation.

Raising their weapons, they first checked outside for any remaining assailants. After confirming there were none, they pushed empty carts in front of them as makeshift barricades and headed into the building.

Meanwhile, the Team Leader had already reported the damage to the iron gate to superiors. However, with the recent increase in Breakers, especially tonight's large-scale riot in Zone C which had already caused significant losses, higher-ups were temporarily unable to dispatch personnel to repair or replace the gate in Zone D.

The vanguard had already confirmed there was no danger inside the building. Only then did the Team Leader temporarily set his mind at ease, first directing everyone to transport all the still-slumbering Blue-Bloods back to their dormitories.

The large iron gate was closed again. How they reinforced it from the inside remained unknown for now, but its sealing capability was certainly much worse than before.

Outside the building, the quiet of night soon returned. Bai Xiao took the opportunity to lie flat on the rooftop, eating bread and drinking water to satisfy her hunger. After eating and drinking her fill, she didn't dare sleep deeply, only seizing the time to rest with her eyes closed.

...

The next day, before dawn had broken, a tremendous crash came from one of the buildings. The incident was sudden, and in the silence of the early morning, Bai Xiao couldn't help but be startled.

She immediately flipped over, gripped her gun, and lay prone, listening intently to the surroundings. The sound seemed to come from one of the buildings ahead.

After the crash, there were about ten seconds of calm. Then, even more chaotic noises erupted—the sound of shattering glass, people shouting and cursing, and the clanging of furniture and metal objects—all ringing out incessantly.

Building Three was fighting again. It seemed more Blue-Bloods had awakened, and quite a few of them.

Bai Xiao simply lay prone at the edge of the eaves, setting up her gun to wait. She thought that if these awakened individuals broke through the iron gate, she would lend them a hand, taking out some of the Administrators. If discovered, she would simply turn and leave.

After all, she had originally planned to leave before daybreak anyway, to find another spot to observe the activity here. This small shed outside the gate was very low; during the day, with many people around and without the cover of night, it was too easy to be discovered.

As the game's deadline approached, more and more people were awakening each day. Judging by the commotion, it seemed like most of the remaining people in that building had awakened.

Soon, the iron gate was opened, and a few scattered Administrators rushed out as if fleeing.

Bai Xiao swiftly shot them down, one by one, then lay prone again to take cover before the Blue-Bloods rushed out.

Within a short while, the Blue-Bloods charged out. Seeing the Administrators who had escaped first lying incapacitated on the ground, they didn't hesitate. With whatever they had—cooking shovels, hammers—they finished them off completely.

From the corner of her eye, Bai Xiao noticed that this group of Blue-Bloods were all men. Previously, she had only been in Building Five, which housed only women. Building Three only had men. Men and women were indeed raised separately. This further confirmed Bai Xiao's belief that the man who shot at her yesterday was undoubtedly a player.

The Blue-Bloods from Building Three quickly dealt with the ones who had slipped through the net. Not dwelling on who had helped them, and seeing no one else around, they hunched over and fled into the distance one by one.

Seeing them go far, Bai Xiao also flipped down from the roof. Passing by Building Three, she noticed the iron gate had actually been closed again?

Could there still be people inside? Thinking this, she raised her gun and kicked the door open a crack, just in time to lock eyes with several men wearing Blue-Bloods athletic uniforms.

Seeing a Security Personnel appear, the men were greatly frightened and immediately turned to run.

Their behavior clearly indicated they were already awakened. Unawakened Blue-Bloods wouldn't actively approach the iron gate and close it. Since they were awakened, why hadn't they acted with the main group? Did they also want to lie in wait and observe? But judging by their actions, it didn't seem like it.
