Chapter 77 Live-Fed Farm - Evening Party

The drive from Sector B to Sector A took about five minutes. Bai Xiao finally understood that the travel time between each channel was roughly five to ten minutes, but since vehicles drove slowly within the park, the actual distance between them was likely one to two kilometers.

By that calculation, even if there were only four sectors—A, B, C, and D—the park would cover an area of three to four square kilometers, equivalent to hundreds of standard football fields...

Sector A was not a circular building like Sector B; it was a high-rise building with a shape common in the real world. In terms of floor area alone, it seemed to be the smallest among the four sectors, but when it came to luxury, no other sector could compare.

The banquet hall on the fifth floor was massive, and its interior was decorated with magnificent splendor. Two long rows of dining tables lined the left and right, laden with various exquisite snacks. Wine glasses were stacked into pyramids, each filled with a pale blue liquid that shimmered like blue agate under the bright lights of the hall. Several waiters in black vests wore uniform employee masks, weaving through the crowd with trays in hand.

When Bai Xiao and her companion arrived, many people were already there. The men were in sharp suits and the women wore exquisite dresses; without exception, everyone wore various masks. Yet, they acted as naturally as if they weren't wearing masks at all, gathering in small groups to converse and toast one another in a harmonious atmosphere.

If she weren't currently inside a game, Bai Xiao thought, this would truly look like a gala in the real world.

She inconspicuously scanned the entire banquet hall while following Han Yu, picking up a glass of wine from a passing waiter's tray along the way.

After all, she was impersonating someone else. Although that woman had already shared a lot of information with her, she adhered to the principle that 'the less said, the fewer mistakes made.' She intended to avoid speaking and minimize her movements as much as possible.

In fact, as soon as she entered, she really wanted to sit on a sofa in the lounge area in the corner of the hall. She planned to wait for the gala to officially begin and then, while no one was paying attention, slip out to see if she could acquire a new identity that would make it easier to move around the park.

With only two days left after tonight, she still had no clue how to escape the park. Having the chance to come to Sector A—the best sector in the park—meant the chances of finding key information would certainly be much higher.

However, having just arrived, it wouldn't be appropriate to head straight for the lounge area. Furthermore, Bai Xiao felt that Han Yu had inconspicuously observed her several times. Although each instance was very brief and subtle, she had consumed two enhancement potions, and her physical perception had been heightened. If someone observed her intentionally, even for a short time and at a close distance, she could sense it.

Bai Xiao didn't know if she had made a mistake somewhere, but since Han Yu hadn't asked, it meant she hadn't been exposed yet. She wanted to stall for as long as possible; the worst-case scenario was simply being found out.

If she were exposed, then this man's life would effectively be over.

While she was contemplating her next move, someone already approached them from the other side.

"President Han, long time no see." The newcomer had a broad build and was dressed in a formal suit—clearly a man. Bai Xiao wondered how he had recognized Han Yu through the mask.

Han Yu actually recognized him as well. His tone was no longer as cold as it was when facing Bai Xiao; his voice carried the polite pleasantries one would use with a client of equal status: "Area Manager Liu, I hope you have been well."

The two were clearly old acquaintances. Bai Xiao remembered the woman at the Hotel saying this was her first time at the park, whereas Han Yu had been here before.

The newcomer hadn't expected Han Yu to bring a woman this time, and he sized her up with curiosity.

Seeing this, Han Yu introduced her: "This is my Special Assistant, Chen Li."

Bai Xiao followed suit and reached out to shake the man's hand: "Hello, Area Manager Liu."

The man addressed as Area Manager Liu raised his glass slightly. Seeing this, Han Yu also raised his glass to clink it, and Bai Xiao had no choice but to follow.

The liquid in the glass was also pale blue. It swirled slowly in the slender glass like gentle waves hitting the shore, looking quite beautiful. A faint scent of alcohol and an indescribable fragrance drifted from the glass, which was rather intoxicating.

For some reason, Bai Xiao suddenly remembered Chen Li saying that drinks made from substances extracted from Blue-Bloods' blood had a very unique taste and were extremely popular on the market. She couldn't help but suspect if the drink in front of her was exactly that.

At that thought, a slight discomfort rose in her stomach. But seeing that Han Yu had already drunk, she couldn't well put the glass down, so she only took a tiny sip, barely letting it touch her lips.

"President Han's assistant is quite the individual; all the ladies are wearing gowns, yet you are the only one in a suit," Area Manager Liu teased Han Yu in a relaxed manner after finishing his drink.

It had to be said that the woman named Chen Li at the Hotel truly had good taste; Han Yu was indeed a gentleman. Facing the other party's slightly discriminatory teasing, he didn't feel embarrassed or awkward. He simply explained for her casually: "Assistant Chen is dedicated to her work and has been overworked these past two days. She was already feeling a bit unwell this morning, but she insisted on working. The wind in the park is strong, so I told her to dress more warmly and not to worry about formalities."

"Haha, President Han is right. I was being a bit too rigid," Area Manager Liu gave a dry laugh and added considerately, "In that case, Assistant Chen can go sit in the lounge area at the edge of the hall for a rest. It won't be too late to get up once the gala officially begins."

This suggestion perfectly matched Bai Xiao's initial thought. Since someone had proactively suggested it, she was naturally willing. Han Yu also nodded to her, signaling his agreement.

There were lounge areas on both the left and right sides near the entrance. Bai Xiao chose the one on the left. Sitting there, her view wasn't blocked by the high stacks of wine glasses, allowing her to better observe everyone's movements.

About twenty minutes later, everyone had arrived. Area Manager Liu, who had just greeted Han Yu, escorted another man onto the stage. Clearly, that man held a higher position.

The spotlights converged on the stage, making the area below suddenly seem dim. The lounge area far off to the side of the door was shrouded in darkness; by now, there wasn't a soul left there.

When the lights went out, Bai Xiao stopped a waiter. Using the excuse that she had accidentally spilled wine on her clothes, she asked him to take her to a dressing room to change. The waiter suspected nothing; he set down his tray and led her directly out the door.

The dressing room was on the same floor as the banquet hall, just a bit far away at the end of the corridor.

The waiter opened the door and stepped aside, but before he could even make an inviting gesture, Bai Xiao knocked him unconscious with a chop to the neck.

Practice makes perfect. Bai Xiao was now incredibly familiar with the sequence of knocking someone out, changing clothes, tying them up, gagging them, and hiding the body.

After changing into the uniform and mask, she took the waiter's ID card and headed for the sixth floor.

When she arrived, she had noticed the directory in the First Floor lobby. The First Floor was the front hall; the second floor was for cleaning, building services, and Security Personnel; the third and fourth floors were restaurants; the fifth floor was the banquet hall; and the sixth floor was the park's Archive Room. The seventh through tenth floors were office areas for Sector A employees. There were no directions for floors above the tenth, so their purpose was currently unknown.

Her plan was to go to the sixth floor first to check the park's records and see if there was any information regarding the park's location. Regardless of what she found, she would then go to the second floor to switch to a Security Personnel identity. Security work was relatively unique; she might have the chance to patrol all floors or even go outside.

While she was busy searching for clues, she didn't notice—or perhaps the area where she had been was too dark to see—that her boss, Han Yu, had also disappeared from the banquet hall.
