92: Chapter 92 The Gears of Fate Have Immense Inertia

Hanging up the phone, Zhao Yang couldn't help but chuckle.

The Beijing TV New Year Music Gala had sent an invitation to Tomorrow Culture, asking them to serve as co-organizers and take full responsibility for the Guofeng segment. This success was due in part to the reputation already established by those few Guofeng songs from Phoenix Legend, and in part to the recommendation from Qingting, as Qingting happened to be the art planning agency for this concert.

Ever since the "Operation Sunset Glow" operation, Qingting's development had been like a cheat code. Good projects came knocking one after another, some arriving inexplicably, to the point where even Jiang Xueqiong herself couldn't explain the source.

She wasn't stupid. Looking back at the strange events during the trip to Europe, she had a rough idea: in all likelihood, they had done a service for the country without even realizing it, and all of this was the reward.

Therefore, for this New Year's Gala, Qingting first brought in Hongdou Technology as a sponsor, and then conveniently pushed Tomorrow Culture, which had a close relationship with Hongdou, into the position of co-organizer.

Zhao Yang put away his phone; amidst his happiness, he also felt a tinge of regret.

Huang Yimei was great in every way, except she really lacked any artistic cells. She was mediocre at singing and dancing, even worse than Liu Tianxian herself—at least she had released albums. Whether they were hits or not was one thing, but at least her singing and dancing looked the part.

Even if she could just reach Liu Tianxian's level, given her conditions, appearing on Beijing TV and having a song and dance routine tailor-made for her would absolutely be explosive.

He pondered for a moment. Should he find a teacher to instruct her? Given her physical fitness, learning these things shouldn't be a problem.

He didn't need to worry about Tomorrow Culture. Meimei was very reliable; she had already returned to Beijing from Hucheng to specifically prepare for the concert. As for Huang Yimei, to be blunt, if anyone actually dared to provoke her, it was the other party who should be worried.

On Zhao Yang's end, year-end matters were piling up like a mountain. Between school and the Third Institute, he was so busy he couldn't stop moving, even running to the Third Institute to work for half a day on New Year's Day. On the second day of the New Year holiday, before dawn, he boarded a flight to Jinghai.

Gao Qisheng and Su Gengsheng's wedding was today.

At Jinghai Airport, Zhao Yang walked out of the arrivals gate and spotted Gao Qilan at a glance.

She was wearing a beige long trench coat with a dark turtleneck sweater underneath, her hair put up, revealing a section of her fair neck. With those gold-rimmed glasses perched on her face, standing in the crowd of people waiting for arrivals, she exuded an air of capability and cool detachment.

Seeing Zhao Yang, she waved continuously.

Zhao Yang nodded inwardly; Gao Qilan's mature, commanding vibe had reached at least sixty percent of its potential.

Walking up to her, Zhao Yang reached out and gently ruffled her hair: "Xiaolan, you've become even more beautiful."

Gao Qilan's face flushed slightly, then she grabbed his waist and pressed her whole body against him. Feeling the two soft curves against his chest, Zhao Yang felt a stir in his heart—she had become even more well-endowed.

"Brother Yang, I can finally hug you. You took such an early flight, aren't you tired?"

"Not tired at all, I've got plenty of energy." Zhao Yang suddenly reached out, swept Gao Qilan up in a horizontal carry, and kissed her on the forehead.

"Oh! Brother Yang!" Gao Qilan's face turned bright red, her head buried in his chest, and she muttered, "So many people are watching, put me down quickly."

"Alright." Zhao Yang agreed, but still spun her around a few times before putting her down. This scene made many young couples nearby envious, and the girls looked at their own boyfriends with fiery gazes. As for those who had some misunderstandings about their own weight and their boyfriends' physical strength, well, that's another story.

Gao Qilan had come to pick up Zhao Yang alone. As she drove, she briefly explained the wedding arrangements.

The new house had already been bought, but after the renovation, it was still airing out, and they were worried it wouldn't be good for the baby. After discussing it with Gao Qilan, Gao Qiqiang simply cleared out the old family home and gave it to Gao Qisheng to make it convenient for Su Gengsheng to rest during her pregnancy. The wedding would be held at Platinum Palace—at this time, Platinum Palace had already been taken over by the Construction Group and converted into a luxury hotel.

Zhao Yang nodded: "Your brother arranged it properly."

"Of course." Gao Qilan pursed her lips and smiled, "My brother is very attentive now, talking about becoming an uncle every day. I think he's even happier than my second brother."

The car drove to Jiuchang Street. The entrance to the old house was already decorated with large red "Double Happiness" characters. Several tables were set up in the courtyard, and neighbors, friends, and relatives were making a ruckus; it was full of life and vitality.

Gao Qiqiang was standing at the entrance greeting guests, wearing a dark suit, his hair combed meticulously. His entire demeanor was a world away from the fishmonger he once was. Beside him stood Gao Qisheng, who had swapped his checkered suit for a crisp, dark blue tuxedo, and had also changed into a new pair of glasses; he was beaming, his mouth stretched almost to his ears.

Seeing Zhao Yang enter, the two brothers simultaneously walked up to greet him.

"Zhao Yang!"

"Brother Yang!"

Zhao Yang smiled: "A Sheng, congratulations."

Gao Qisheng smiled so hard his eyes almost disappeared: "Brother Yang, I'm so happy you could come. Come on in and take a seat."

Just as Zhao Yang was about to walk inside, a familiar voice came from the side: "Zhao Yang!"

An Xin was wearing a dark jacket, standing in a corner of the courtyard with Meng Yu beside him, who was smiling and waving at Zhao Yang. Zhao Yang walked over: "You two came as well?"

Meng Yu chimed in: "An Xin and Old Gao have a great relationship, how could he not come?"

Zhao Yang was taken aback for a moment.

The gears of fate truly had tremendous inertia; in another timeline, these two were adversaries, but in this world, they had actually become friends.

"When are you two getting hitched?" Zhao Yang asked.

Meng Yu smiled: "Wait until I graduate, no rush. You'll have to give me a big red envelope then."

"Sure."

Gao Qiqiang happened to walk over, heard this, and laughed while patting An Xin on the shoulder: "An Xin, you'd better hurry up. Our A Sheng is about to become a father."

An Xin smiled bitterly: "Why do you keep urging me? It's just a matter of time for Meng Yu and me. You're at your age and still single, why aren't you in any hurry?"

Gao Qiqiang replied as a matter of course: "Our Gao family already has a successor, what's there for me to be in a hurry about?"

As they were talking, Gao Qisheng took a phone call, his expression shifted slightly, and he walked to the side to speak in a low voice for a few moments. After hanging up, he stood there with a somewhat complicated expression.

Zhao Yang walked over: "What's wrong?"

Gao Qisheng hesitated for a moment, but then said: "Sister Su's younger brother... said at the last minute he couldn't come. He said he felt he owed his sister too much and was really too embarrassed to come."

Zhao Yang frowned. During Su Gengsheng's childhood, she was assaulted by her stepfather, and her mother not only didn't help her but instead accused her of "seducing him"—it was absolutely despicable.

Her only younger brother with any blood relation was also very cowardly. He didn't have the guts to help her when they were kids, and now it was even worse. He had originally promised to come, but when it came to the actual wedding, his cowardly nature kicked in, and he decided not to show up again.

That's infuriating!

For this kind of thing, it wouldn't be appropriate for Jiang Xueqiong to step in either; everyone knew she and Su Gengsheng had a superior-subordinate relationship. Wouldn't that be openly telling everyone that Su Gengsheng had no family to rely on?

Zhao Yang frowned, then suddenly a flash of inspiration struck him, and his gaze landed on An Xin, who was nearby.
