119: Go upstairs
“What is this place?” After reaching the third floor, Wei Xun carefully surveyed the area.
Although it looked like a vegetable patch, there was nothing planted in the soil, and it appeared to be abandoned.
After searching for a while, Wei Xun finally spotted a figure on a lounge chair on this floor.
It was a black-haired Farmer Uncle dressed like an old farmer, currently squinting his eyes as if sleeping.
“Hey, Uncle!”
Wei Xun stepped forward and cautiously greeted him.
Hearing the movement, the Uncle lying on the chair slowly opened his eyes.
Seeing Wei Xun standing beside him, he showed no surprise, instead turning over as if preparing to continue sleeping.
He seemed to have no intention of bothering with Wei Xun.
“Uncle, wake up and let’s chat!”
Seeing this, Wei Xun had no choice but to politely speak again.
“You can take whatever you like from this room!” The Uncle slowly said, “I have nothing to compete with you.”
“Uh!” Wei Xun felt a bit helpless upon hearing this reply.
He turned his head to look at the room, but there seemed to be nothing like treasure.
This third-floor vegetable patch only had hoes, rakes, and ladles, all appearing to be very ordinary farming tools.
“Uncle, what was this place originally for?” Wei Xun asked the Uncle again.
The Uncle sighed weakly after hearing this, and then reluctantly began to speak: “This place of mine was originally for cultivating Immortal Plants, but now the hun yang pearl has dimmed, and I can’t continue growing Immortal Plants!”
“hun yang pearl?”
Hearing this name, Wei Xun immediately turned to look at the glowing pearl suspended in the middle of the room.
Although it was still emitting light, the glow was somewhat dim and flickering.
“Yes!” Farmer Uncle nodded, “Without this pearl providing a continuous supply of energy, the things planted here cannot survive.”
“How can this pearl be restored to its original state?” Wei Xun asked again.
“No way!” Farmer Uncle shook his head, looking hopeless: “It can only recover on its own, and it will probably take more than a hundred years!”
“So, before the pearl recovers, nothing can be done here?” Wei Xun asked.
“Yes!” Farmer Uncle nodded slightly.
“Alright then!” Seeing this, Wei Xun had no other options, so he looked towards the stairs leading to the fourth floor.
After bypassing Farmer Uncle, Wei Xun ascended the stairs leading to the fourth floor.
The fourth floor of this pagoda looked like a lush green park.
The ground was covered in verdant grass, and if one didn't look closely, they wouldn't even realize this was space inside a tower.
In the center of this floor, there was also a thick, sturdy tree.
The tree was very thick; at a glance, it would probably take four or five people holding hands to encircle it.
At this moment, a man wearing a straw hat was leaning against the tree.
He had a weed dangling from his mouth, and his hands were clasped behind his head, seemingly dozing off as well.
Hearing the sound of someone approaching, the man lifted the straw hat on his head, revealing his eyes to look at Wei Xun.
Wei Xun also clearly saw the man’s face.
He was a very young-looking man, but his skin was dark, and he had a lazy demeanor.
“Hey!”
The man waved to Wei Xun in greeting.
“Brother, could you tell me about your floor?” Wei Xun approached and waved back at the man.
“My floor…” The man stretched, slowly got up, and let out a long yawn: “It’s a place for raising beasts.”
“Raising beasts?” Wei Xun was a bit surprised by this answer, he looked around but didn't see any other living creatures.
“That’s right!” The man pointed to the large tree above his head: “Look at those eggs growing up there, each egg contains a Divine Beast!”
“Divine Beast?” Wei Xun was immediately startled upon hearing this.
“That’s right!” The man nodded: “Every egg here contains a Divine Beast, waiting for them to hatch.”
Wei Xun followed the man’sGuidelines and looked at the tree above his head.
Indeed, there were some round eggs of various colors growing on this tree.
However, the sizes of the eggs varied; some were already as big as a head, while others were only the size of a chicken egg, and quite a few were only the size of a quail egg.
“These eggs growing on this Divine Tree each require at least ten thousand years of gestation to successfully hatch!”
The man continued to explain.
“It’s already been over six hundred years since the last Divine Beast egg left.”
“Was it also the previous owner of this tower?” Wei Xun asked.
The man nodded: “Yes, that guy took quite a few Divine Beast eggs from me, but even after six hundred years, probably only a few have hatched.”
“Then which Divine Beast egg here can hatch the fastest?” Wei Xun pointed at the eggs on the tree and asked.
“The earliest one!” The man looked up at the Divine Beast eggs above his head, finally settling his gaze on a blue Divine Beast egg.
This egg appeared to be the largest one on the tree, roughly the size of a large watermelon.
“This egg is estimated to hatch in about twenty more years!”
The man slowly replied.
Upon receiving this answer, Wei Xun was somewhat disappointed.
Twenty years was too long!
“Then what is the content of the competition here?” Although Wei Xun didn't hold much hope, he still asked.
“There’s no competition content here!” the man replied.
“None?” Wei Xun was a bit confused: “How can I get these eggs without a competition?”
“Only through equivalent exchange!” The man smiled slightly.
“What do I need to exchange?” Wei Xun asked again.
“Anything!” the man said: “But whether I exchange it or not depends on whether I like it.”
“Then how do I send things in to you?” Wei Xun asked this crucial question again.
“Only with my permission!” the man replied calmly.
“Alright then!” Wei Xun nodded, then looked towards the stairs leading to the fifth floor.
There seemed to be no benefit in exchanging for a Divine Beast egg right now.
Even the fastest hatching one would take so many years; he couldn't afford to wait.
And if he wanted one later, he could always come back and exchange for it.
So Wei Xun followed the stairs to the fifth floor of the pagoda.
Upon reaching the fifth floor, Wei Xun immediately smelled a strong medicinal fragrance.
The fifth floor was an Alchemy room.
In the middle of the room, there was an Alchemy furnace, with faint flickers of fire still burning inside.
Squatting beside the furnace was a Little friend who looked about ten years old, holding a fan and fanning the furnace.
Other than that, there was no trace of anyone else on this floor.
“Hello, Little friend!” Wei Xun walked forward and greeted him.
“Who’s a Little friend?” The seemingly young child spoke with a raspy voice, sounding like a middle-aged man with a clogged throat.
