16: Watching snake fights

Two more days passed, and the Forest remained calm, with no sign of humans.

Wei Xun couldn't help but feel he might have overthought things; perhaps that group of hunters wasn't as bold as he'd imagined.

Maybe after seeing those three horribly dead bodies, they had already been scared away and run back overnight.

But just as Wei Xun had this thought, San Hua Cat suddenly ran back from the Forest in the distance.

“Boss, the humans are here!”

Hearing San Hua Cat's report, Wei Xun, who was originally lying by the stream sunbathing, perked up and quickly kicked awake Bear Two, who was sleeping beside him.

“Don’t sleep! Get up quickly.”

Bear Two immediately stood up after being kicked, and Wei Xun leaped onto Bear Two’s back.

“I know, you go back into the Forest first and secretly check which direction this group of people is heading, then come back and report!” Immediately after, Wei Xun sent San Hua Cat back into the Forest.

San Hua Cat nodded; after two days of recovery, the wound on San Hua Cat's leg had almost completely healed, so its speed in the Forest was extremely fast.

Not long after, San Hua Cat ran back again: “Reporting to Boss, that group of hunters went towards the valley!”

Hearing this, Wei Xun couldn't help but smile.

It seemed everything was going in the direction he had anticipated.

“Let’s go!” Then Wei Xun tugged at Bear Two’s fur and prepared to also go near the valley via another path.

Once that group of hunters reached the valley, they would certainly clash with the Demon Snake living in the valley.

At that time, he would only need to sit back and watch the snakes fight, and if necessary, intervene to reap the benefits.

Soon, Wei Xun and his companions hid on a small slope in the distance from the valley; this small slope had dense vegetation, and hiding in the grass made them almost impossible to discover unless approached closely.

After waiting for a moment, Wei Xun indeed saw a group of hunters appear near the valley entrance.

Roughly counting, Wei Xun found that this group of hunters numbered only fifteen or sixteen people; a good number of people must have been left behind to guard the hunters’ camp.

That group of hunters hesitated for a long time at the valley entrance before each picking up their weapons and slowly sneaking into the valley.

“There’s a good show to watch!” Watching the hunters enter the valley, Wei Xun, hiding on the slope, chuckled.

“Boss, what should we do?” San Hua Cat is currently at the Ling Beast Realm Tier 3; having lived near human towns before, it was the first to learn to speak human language.

However, because it became a Spirit Beast, it would be hunted by those hunters, so San Hua Cat fled all the way back into the Mountain Forest.

“Don’t rush, let the Demon Snake fly for a while...” Wei Xun mumbled, then quietly waited for the Demon Snake in the valley to get angry.

As expected, after that group of hunters entered the valley, a scream came from within the valley, followed by the sound of fighting.

Due to the narrowness of the valley, the battlefield quickly moved from inside the valley to outside.

More than ten hunters were seen holding flying hooks, attaching them to various parts of the Demon Snake's body, and pulling it out of the valley, while other hunters surrounded the Demon Snake from all directions.

However, this Demon Snake was enormous, appearing as tall as several small buildings, and its body was even thicker than a telephone pole; it could probably swallow two people in one bite.

It made Wei Xun think of a movie he watched when he was young, crazy python disaster.

“This snake is even bigger than when I saw it before.” Wei Xun couldn't help but be a little astonished looking at the Black Snake's appearance.

Previously, he had only seen the Black Snake's general appearance from a distance, and it was only now that he clearly saw the Black Snake's full form; it indeed looked very different from an ordinary snake.

Facing the encirclement of more than a dozen hunters, the Black Snake actually spat out countless needle-like spikes from its mouth, forcing the hunters to constantly dodge.

One hunter who was a bit slow in dodging was struck in the thigh by these flying spikes, and soon his lips turned black, and his body trembled, clearly indicating he was poisoned.

However, these hunters did not give up because the Demon Snake was difficult to deal with; these hunters were not ordinary humans either, as Wei Xun observed by activating his Spirit Seeking Eyes.

There were Spiritual Qi light spots on the bodies of these hunters; although not as many as on the Demon Snake, they seemed to be significantly more than the three hunters Wei Xun had encountered before.

These should be the elite among these hunters.

Indeed, after these hunters dodged the Demon Snake's attack, they drew their bows and arrows from a distance, and with a series of whooshes, several arrows shot towards the Demon Snake from various directions.

Because the Demon Snake's body was caught by more than ten hooks, it could not move, and could only endure the arrow attacks.

However, the black scales on the Demon Snake's body were extremely hard; these arrows almost only left marks on the scales and could not penetrate its defenses at all.

Facing this situation, one of the hunters, a strong man who looked the most courageous, held a large axe and leaped high, chopping towards the Demon Snake's body.

Seeing this, the Demon Snake violently twisted its body, breaking free from several flying hooks attached to it, then whipped its tail, intending to swat away the charging strong man, but the strong man was faster; his axe directly struck the Demon Snake's body.

The originally sturdy scales were actually split open by this axe, leaving a huge wound on the Demon Snake's body.

The Demon Snake cried out in pain, letting out a long hiss to the sky, and erupted with immense power, breaking free from all the flying hooks pulling on its body, then bit towards the strong man.

But at this moment, a short hunter among that group, holding an iron hammer, immediately leaped high from the side and behind, smashing the hammer onto the Demon Snake's lower jaw.

The Demon Snake felt its world spin, its head dizzy, and then it fell directly to the ground, wanting to struggle but unable to regain its strength.

“This Demon Snake is truly troublesome!” Several hunters surrounded the Demon Snake; one bald hunter held a dagger and took out a small bottle filled with green liquid from his waist, then condensed the green liquid onto the dagger.

“Stop talking so much, hurry and use the soft demon water to stun this Demon Snake!” The strong man immediately urged.

“Don’t rush!” The bald hunter raised the dagger, now coated with the green liquid, and prepared to insert it into the Demon Snake's body.

But at this moment, a black mist suddenly erupted from underground, instantly engulfing all the surrounding hunters.

“What’s going on?” The hunters immediately panicked, unable to see anything after being enveloped by the black mist.

Then, the next second, a bear's roar came from the side, and one hunter, reacting a bit slowly, was directly swatted away by a bear claw.

“There’s a bear!”

“Over there!”

Several hunters heard the sound and wanted to go to assist, but then they heard another wildcat’s roar.

One of the hunters was directly pounced on by San Hua Cat, and although San Hua Cat’s attack power wasn’t strong, its sharp claws were equally formidable, scratching the hunter’s face furiously.

When the hunter tried to break free, San Hua Cat had already escaped using the black mist.

“Crazy Wind Palm!”

Facing the enveloping black mist, one of the hunters roared and instantly dispersed the black mist with a single palm strike.
