27: Meet the Tiger King
The Ox Demon glanced at Wei Xun, who was riding the Black Bear, then nodded and turned to walk up the stairs.
"You wait here. I'm just about to change shifts and go back to sleep!" Horn said to Wei Xun, then turned and left, still looking listless.
Wei Xun could only wait at the entrance, riding Bear Two. Bear Two, who was originally majestic and domineering in the Forest, saw so many demons around him and now stood rooted to the spot, not daring to move.
If Wei Xun hadn't been by his side, he might have been scared away and fled that very night.
This time, the notification was much faster. Not long after the Ox Demon went up the Mountain, several demons came down.
One of the leading demons was dressed in a loose human robe, looking like an Old Man with a black beard and long whiskers. If one didn't look closely, they wouldn't even notice his Demonic Qi features.
The demons following him, although still retaining their original characteristics, only had one or two such features.
They were completely different from the demons down the Mountain.
"Are you the one who wants to pledge allegiance?" The Old Man asked Wei Xun, his eyes slightly narrowed, a smile on his face.
"Precisely!" Wei Xun nodded, then secretly activated his Spirit Seeking Eyes to observe.
Although this Old Man looked powerless, the Spiritual Qi light points on his body were very bright, and his cultivation was even stronger than his own.
"Hmm, not bad!" The Old Man nodded his head, looking at Wei Xun with appreciation: "It's been a long time since a fully cultivated demon came to our Black Tiger Mountain!"
"Just good luck!" Wei Xun replied very politely.
Then the Old Man's gaze lingered on the Black Bear beneath Wei Xun, causing Bear Two to shiver.
"You say you're here to pledge allegiance, but why are you so polite? You even brought a gift!" The Old Man chuckled, stroking his whiskers, seemingly very pleased.
"Gift?" Wei Xun was a little confused by the Old Man's words. He had come empty-handed and hadn't brought any gifts.
"Isn't the Black Bear you're riding meant for us to eat?" The Old Man retorted, then licked his lips, seemingly a little hungry.
Upon hearing this, Bear Two's pupils constricted in fear, and he backed away repeatedly.
"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid!" Seeing this, Wei Xun quickly patted Bear Two's head and immediately calmed him down.
Then Wei Xun turned to the Old Man and said, "Old Man, you've misunderstood. This Black Bear isn't for you to eat. He's my Little One, and also my mount!"
Hearing this, a hint of disappointment flowed from the Old Man's eyes, and he then sighed: "That's truly a pity. It's been a long time since I've eaten bear paws; I'm rather nostalgic."
"Hehe!" Wei Xun could only laugh awkwardly after hearing this, wiping away the cold sweat that had appeared on his forehead.
"That bear isn't for us to eat!" The Old Man raised his head and looked at the Three-Flower Cat on the bear's back, saying, "Surely the cat on his back can be given to me to eat!"
The Old Man finished speaking without waiting for Wei Xun to reply, and continued, "Although cat meat isn't very tasty, it's still acceptable for a quick snack!"
"Uh!" Wei Xun was speechless, and the Three-Flower Cat buried his head even deeper in fright.
"What?" The Old Man looked at Wei Xun's troubled expression and asked, "That cat couldn't also be your Little One, could he?"
"Hehe!" Wei Xun laughed awkwardly, then nodded.
"I say, you're a strange demon!" The Old Man said helplessly, "You've already become a demon, yet you're still playing with a bunch of Yao Beasts. How unpromising!"
"The Old Man's teaching is correct!" Wei Xun felt very helpless but still had to pretend, saying, "Mainly, when I hadn't yet transformed, they helped me a lot, so I couldn't bear to abandon them!"
"Enough, enough!" The Old Man waved his hand after hearing this, saying, "None of that matters anymore."
"Thank you for understanding!" Wei Xun nodded, feeling a little more at ease.
Following that, the Old Man continued to speak to Wei Xun, "You said you came to pledge allegiance, so tell me where you came from, and what is your true form?"
"This Little One came from a Mountain Forest over a hundred li to the South, and my true form is a Grey Fur Rat!" Wei Xun replied truthfully.
"A Rat?" Hearing these two words, the Old Man suddenly frowned: "Looking at your appearance, you don't seem like a Rat Demon!"
"Absolutely true!" Wei Xun finished speaking, then reached out and, with a grab from a distance, summoned his tail, which had transformed into a long spear.
The Old Man looked at Wei Xun's Lifebound Weapon, which indeed resembled a Rat's tail, and only then did he believe him.
"Logically speaking, Rat Demons, after transforming, are all thin and small!" The Old Man continued, "Someone like you, with a strong and tall physique, really doesn't look like a Rat Demon!"
"Perhaps this Little One was lucky and encountered many Immortal Plants and spiritual fruits before transforming, which is why I have this effect!" Wei Xun replied casually.
"That truly is good luck!" The Old Man seemed to believe Wei Xun's explanations, and so he calmly said, "Since you are indeed a demon who transformed near our Black Tiger Mountain, then follow me up the Mountain to meet the King!"
"Alright!" Wei Xun nodded, then prepared to go up the Mountain on the Black Bear.
However, the Old Man turned back and said, "Don't ride this bear. Just let him follow us up the Mountain. The King doesn't even have a mount, so it's best if you don't either!"
Hearing the Old Man's words, Wei Xun immediately dismounted from the bear's back and replied, "This Little One understands."
Then, led by the Old Man, Wei Xun followed closely behind, while Bear Two and the Three-Flower Cat followed behind Wei Xun, ascending the stone steps one by one, finally reaching the entrance of a massive Immortal Cave at the mountainside.
At the entrance of the Immortal Cave, braziers had already been lit on both sides, illuminating the entrance brightly.
At this moment, the sun in the West was about to set, and soon the entire Mountain Forest would be plunged into darkness.
The Old Man walked to the entrance of the Immortal Cave, instructed the two demons guarding the entrance, and then led Wei Xun and the two Yao Beasts into the cave.
Inside the Immortal Cave, the scent of Demonic Qi was even more intense.
After the recent events, Bear Two and Three Flowers, the two Yao Beasts, were both terrified, tiptoeing behind, not even daring to breathe loudly.
They finally reached the main hall in the middle of the Immortal Cave.
At this moment, Wei Xun saw a massive stone chair in the center of the hall, and seated on the stone chair was a huge demon.
He was covered in tiger-like golden-yellow fur, with tiger-stripe tattoos on his body, but his head was the square face of a human man, and his hair was also golden-yellow. His face was rugged, and he was currently tearing at a piece of raw meat with his mouth, revealing a mouthful of sharp fangs.
The Old Man told Wei Xun to wait where he was, while he himself ran to the Tiger Demon's side to report.
Hearing that someone had come to pledge allegiance, the Tiger Demon turned his head to glance at Wei Xun, then nodded to the Old Man.
Seeing this, the Old Man immediately waved to Wei Xun, who then led Bear Two and the Three-Flower Cat to the center of the hall.
"What's your name?" The Tiger King asked directly after seeing Wei Xun. His voice was loud and powerful, resonating like drumbeats throughout the entire Immortal Cave when he spoke.
"This Little One is called Wei Xun!" Wei Xun replied to the Tiger King with a cupped-fist salute.
"Wei Xun?" Hearing these two words, the Tiger King suddenly frowned: "Why did you take a human name?"
