14: Hunter Camp
“Good heavens, so the Three-Flower Cat is just called Three Flowers, huh?”
“Then I’m a Grey Fur mouse, so am I just called Grey Fur?”
“The naming sense of these Spirit Beasts and Yao Beasts really isn’t that great.”
“How did you run into hunters?” Wei Xun asked curiously.
Logically speaking, there were no human settlements near this Mountain Forest, so humans shouldn't have set foot in these places.
“Shu Lord, you don’t know, but a group of hunters came to the mountain a few days ago!” Three Flowers cried, “It’s not just these three hunters, but a whole group…”
“What?” Hearing Three Flowers’s words, Wei Xun’s pupils suddenly constricted, and he immediately regretted letting that hunter go.
“It’s true, a group of hunters came, at least twenty or thirty of them!” Three Flowers continued, “They came into the mountain to catch Spirit Beasts or Yao Beasts like us; they’re very hateful.”
“Why the hell didn’t you say so earlier?” Wei Xun roared at Three Flowers after hearing this. If that hunter ran back to inform his companions, wouldn't he face an encirclement by a group of hunters?
Thinking of this, Wei Xun immediately darted in the direction the hunter had fled, activating Shadowless Step to its maximum efficiency, transforming into a grey blur streaking through the Forest.
And that hunter who had run out didn't dare to stop for a breath, constantly running in one direction.
After running a considerable distance, he finally leaned against a large tree, panting heavily.
“Damn it!” The hunter looked back behind him, didn’t find the Big Black Bear’s figure, and then breathed a sigh of relief: “How is that mouse so powerful… I need to go back and get my brothers to help…”
The hunter muttered a few words to himself, then prepared to continue heading back.
But at this moment, a grey shadow dropped from the tree. Before the hunter could react, Wei Xun’s tail had already pierced into his back, directly penetrating his entire body.
“Ugh…” The hunter stared dumbfounded at the tail, which was like a long spear, protruding from his chest.
He wanted to resist, but he felt his whole body paralyzed, then he foamed at the mouth and finally fell to the ground, convulsing.
After Wei Xun pulled out his tail, he flicked off the blood, then began to search the man’s body.
From this hunter’s body, Wei Xun found a string of copper coins, several bottles of simple healing medicine, and a small gourd full of wine.
After absorbing all these items into his Da Kou Space, Wei Xun also put the hunting bow, arrows, and hunting knife and spear from the hunter’s hands into his Da Kou Space.
His Da Kou Space would expand as his Cultivation Realm increased.
Initially, it was only the size of a small suitcase, but now, when Wei Xun closed his eyes to sense it, it was at least the size of a small tricycle’s cargo bed.
So, there was more than enough space to store these weapons.
After dealing with the fleeing hunter, Wei Xun used his tail to coil around the body, threw it into a dense thicket, and then turned back.
Returning to Bear Two’s location, Wei Xun continued to loot the remaining two bodies, even stripping off their clothes and putting them into his Da Kou Space.
After doing all this, Wei Xun wanted to ride Bear Two and leave.
But Bear Two was clearly very interested in the two bodies lying on the ground, and couldn’t help but lick his lips, almost drooling.
Seeing this, Wei Xun naturally understood Bear Two’s thoughts.
This Bear Two wanted to eat people.
Although it was very normal for Yao Beasts to eat people, Wei Xun couldn’t bring himself to do it, so he could only say to Bear Two: “If you want to eat, drag them aside and eat them. I still have something to ask Three Flowers!”
Bear Two immediately nodded after hearing this, picked up the two hunter’s bodies, and dragged them into the nearby Forest, enjoying them by himself.
The injured Three Flowers had already pulled out the arrow stuck in his leg. Blood was currently flowing out, and Three Flowers could only lick the wound with his tongue, trying to stop the bleeding.
Seeing this, Wei Xun took out the healing medicine he had just acquired from his Da Kou Space. One small bottle had the words “Stop Bleeding” written on it.
So Wei Xun opened the lid, used his tail to hold the medicine bottle, and sprinkled some powder on Three Flowers’s wound. In a short while, the blood from the wound stopped flowing.
“Thank you, Rat Big Brother, for saving me. Three Flowers will surely repay Rat Big Brother’s great kindness!” The Three-Flower Cat knelt on the ground, appearing very obedient.
The Three-Flower Cat’s body wasn’t very large, only a bit bigger than a common house cat.
At this moment, he was about the same size as Wei Xun. Although wild cats were Wei Xun’s natural enemies before.
But his Cultivation Realm was clearly higher than the Three-Flower Cat, so at this moment, it was the Three-Flower Cat who was afraid, not himself.
“You just said a group of hunters came to the mountain. Do you know their exact location?” Wei Xun asked curiously.
“Replying to Shu Lord!” The Three-Flower Cat respectfully answered, “I know where they are. I accidentally stumbled into their camp and was targeted by them.”
Based on the Three-Flower Cat’s description, Wei Xun roughly knew the location of the human hunter’s camp.
It was a good thing he reacted quickly and caught up with the fleeing hunter halfway.
Otherwise, if he had been a little later, that hunter would have run back to the camp, and then it would have been difficult to deal with them.
However, even if they knew the location of that human camp, with Wei Xun plus Bear Two, and barely adding this Three-Flower Cat.
Three Spirit Beasts and Yao Beasts that hadn’t yet transformed wouldn’t be a match for these dozens of hunters.
At this time, the best option was to return the way they came and avoid the range of this group of hunters.
Once they caught enough unlucky individuals, they would definitely leave on their own.
So, after Bear Two finished eating the two people, Wei Xun took the Three-Flower Cat and rode on Bear Two’s back, then returned the way they came to Bear Two’s previous territory.
By the stream where they were before, Wei Xun had dug himself a new large hole several days ago.
Since his body had grown much larger after transforming into a Yao Beast, he also needed a new den.
However, similarly, it still had a three-room, one-hall structure inside.
Currently, his Cultivation Realm was still tens of thousands of points away from Breakthrough to the third level of the Yao Beast Realm. The most urgent task was to start Cultivating as soon as possible.
Although this encounter with humans didn’t put him in danger, it did make Wei Xun aware of a crisis.
His current Cultivation Realm was far from enough. Although he could intimidate these Spirit Beasts, facing humans who were a hundred times fiercer than Spirit Beasts, and those human Cultivators he might encounter in the future, would all be strong enemies.
Thinking of this, Wei Xun entered the cave, pulled a few ginseng whiskers from his Da Kou Space, and swallowed them, circulating the Spiritual Qi ingested into his body throughout his Meridians, in conjunction with the Demon Cultivation Mind Technique.
He aimed to Breakthrough to the third level of the Yao Beast Realm as soon as possible.
And not a day later, that group of human hunters, leading several hunting dogs, found the hunter’s body by the edge of a Forest.
And subsequently, they also discovered the remnants of another hunter’s body in another Forest, eaten until only scraps remained.
“There’s a Yao Beast in this vicinity!” One older hunter, a bit older, frowned as he looked at the scraps on the ground.
“Yao Beasts are not easy to deal with,” another middle-aged man said with some difficulty in his voice.
“But Yao Beasts are also worth more, aren’t they?” The old hunter smiled slightly, seemingly determined to get one.
