129: The hunt begins.

Lu Fan opened the system's character panel, looking at the newly generated mission.

[Side Mission: Suppress the Bandits. Within one week, kill three japanese officers of the rank of Staff Officer or above.]

"Staff Officer..." Lu Fan frowned slightly, lost in thought.

According to the devil army's structure, only Regimental Commanders could be Staff Officers.

Currently, there was only one Division in the Pingjin Area.

At most, there were only seven or eight japanese of Staff Officer rank or above wandering around.

There wouldn't be more than four in the Beijing area, and he had already taken one out not long ago.

It seemed the targets would be hard to find, requiring him to go deep behind enemy lines or to important battlefields.

As he was contemplating how to proceed, a rush of footsteps interrupted his thoughts.

"Mr. Lu! Something's wrong!"

Lin Yanqiu ran into the side hall, her face anxious, sweat dampening her temples.

"Ah Fu... Ah Fu fainted, his body is burning hot, and his eyes... his eyes are glowing red."

Lu Fan's heart tightened, and he immediately got up and followed her to Ah Fu's room.

Ah Fu lay on a simple bed, his eyes tightly shut, his face unusually flushed, and his breathing rapid.

Li Zhenshan was applying a wet towel to his forehead, but it had little effect.

Lu Fan quickly stepped forward, squatted down, and his multifunctional glasses instantly switched to deep scan mode.

In his vision, Ah Fu's brain core region showed an abnormal temperature increase, and multiple neural nodes were signaling overload.

"You all go out!" Lu Fan said in a deep voice, "Old Li, guard the door."

A flicker of imperceptible worry crossed his eyes.

Soon, the multifunctional glasses provided a diagnostic report:

[Diagnosis: High-intensity continuous use of the Bionic Eye's overclocked detection function led to core processor overload; exposure to rain and cold induced high fever; risk of rejection reaction in the bio-mechanical fusion body (moderate).]

[Recommendation: Immediate cooling; use advanced Neural Stabilizer and Biological Harmonizer, recommended: Primary Intelligence Potion]

Without hesitation, Lu Fan's mind moved, and he retrieved the set of potions from his system space.

The recovery potion among them had already been used when Ah Fu was severely injured last time.

Without any reluctance, he directly gave the Primary Intelligence Potion to Ah Fu to drink.

Looking at the remaining few potions glowing with a faint blue light, he hardened his heart and fed them to him one by one.

Ah Fu was not only a powerful reconnaissance force but also his reliable partner.

A comprehensive supplement, no problem, right!

After more than ten minutes, Ah Fu's rapid breathing gradually calmed down, and the flush on his face began to recede.

The multifunctional glasses' scan showed that the overload alarm was cleared, the core temperature was steadily dropping, and the risk of rejection had decreased to low.

"He should be fine now, let him rest well." Lu Fan breathed a sigh of relief and got up to leave the room.

"Boss, how is Brother Fu?" Li Zhenshan asked anxiously when he saw Lu Fan come out.

"He's fine, the fever's gone down. You watch him, call me when he wakes up!" Lu Fan said, handing the potion bottle in his hand to Li Zhenshan.

Pointing at the residue on the bottle wall, he said, "Rinse it with some cool boiled water and drink it, it's a great tonic!"

Just as he was deliberately teasing Li Zhenshan, the door to the side hall was pushed open.

Zhang Tingshu, soaked and exuding cold, walked in, his face grim.

"Boss, I infiltrated Langfang and got definite news. General Zhao Dengyu is no longer in Langfang.

The japanese suddenly launched a fierce attack on Southern Camp, and the situation is critical!

Vice Army Commander Qin Yide sent an urgent telegram, ordering General Zhao to lead his troops to reinforce Southern Camp this morning!"

"Southern Camp?" Li Zhenshan slapped his forehead, looking regretful, "What the hell, there's a battle there. I wouldn't have come if I'd known."

Zhang Tingshu took the towel Lin Yanqiu handed him and wiped the rain from his face.

He was also impressed by Li Zhenshan's way of thinking.

Ever since this fellow got advanced weapons, all he could think about was fighting.

"Boss, Ah Fu also needs to recuperate now, and the brothers have been drenched in rain all day, they're all exhausted.

The students are at their wit's end, and several injured ones are still running a fever.

I suggest... we rest in the temple, let everyone recover their strength, and then set off when the rain lightens?"

Zhang Tingshu made his suggestion based on the actual situation.

In his opinion, their small team's strength completely crushed the devils, so there was no need to find Zhao Dengyu.

Besides, the team comes and goes like the wind, highly free, and acting alone would yield greater benefits.

Once they entered the regular army's ranks, being constrained by others would not be conducive to killing devils.

Lu Fan looked at his exhausted team members, then thought of Ah Fu's unconscious state and the students' haggard faces.

So he nodded and agreed to Zhang Tingshu's suggestion: "Okay, we'll do as you say. I'll be out for a few days, and then I'll go to Southern Camp when I return.

You're responsible for arranging patrols and personnel rest, and taking good care of the wounded and Ah Fu.

Old Li, you assist Tingshu."

"Yes, Boss!" Zhang Tingshu and Li Zhenshan responded in unison.

"And what about you?" Lin Yanqiu keenly caught the hidden meaning in Lu Fan's words.

Lu Fan stood up, walked to the window, and gazed at the still pouring rain outside, his eyes sharp as knives.

He didn't explain what he was going to do specifically, but the chilling killing intent seemed to lower the temperature in the room by several degrees.

The time limit for the side mission [Suppress the Bandits] was only one week.

The heads of three Staff Officers would not simply appear by waiting in the temple.

He needed to take the initiative and venture into danger.

And this heavy rain and night were the best cover.

"Boss, it's too dangerous for you to go out alone, I'll go with you!"

Li Zhenshan, smelling the killing intent, smiled and asked to accompany Lu Fan.

Zhang Tingshu also caught the scent of blood, but he knew he couldn't dissuade his boss.

So, for safety, he advised, "Boss, take Old Li and the others with you, it's good to have backup!"

"No need." Lu Fan's tone was unequivocal: "More people would just be a burden. You all guard this place, recover well, and wait for my return."

He took a deep breath and ordered: "Attention, everyone! During this time, the team will be fully commanded by Zhang Tingshu."

"Understood~~~" All personnel stood at attention and responded loudly.

With that, he said no more, pulled up his rain hood, silently pushed open the temple door, and headed straight for the mountain gate.

His figure, like a leopard merging into the rainy night, disappeared into the vast darkness and downpour.

After leaving the mountain gate, Lu Fan took out his Flight Backpack, and with the assistance of his multifunctional glasses, quickly learned how to use it.

Seeing that the energy could support a flight of 3,000 kilometers, he mentally locked onto the mission completion location: Harbin!

As the seat of the puppet regime in the Northeast, not only was the garrison the largest, but the Kwantung Army Headquarters was also located there.

Once he reached that place, taking a few Staff Officers' heads would be easy.

Killing a dozen generals wouldn't be difficult either.

He acted on his thoughts; once Lu Fan set his target, the Flight Backpack carried him straight towards the Northeast.

He completely disregarded the dangers ahead, because: If the bandits can go, so can I.

The next morning, he landed in Harbin. His goal was clear—the hunt had begun.
