39: Three agents
Back in the room, Lu Fan casually handed out two packs of Huazi cigarettes to each person.
After puffing away for a bit, he officially broached the subject: "I actually have a path here."
"Due to business needs, I need an overseas agent."
"I wonder if you're interested, Old Third."
Facing this olive branch, Lin Tianrong looked up sharply: "Brother Fan, what exactly do you want me to do?"
"Be my overseas agent!"
Lu Fan said steadily, "I have some business in Britain, and the profits are quite substantial."
"Capital controls are very strict now. Bringing it back directly is risky, and the British side is unwilling to transfer funds to the Far East."
"I'm thinking of having this money take a trip to the Eagle Nation and turning it into..."
"Understood, Brother Fan. I get it."
Lin Tianrong raised his hand to signal there was no need to say more. "I'll register a company as soon as I get to the Eagle Nation. I'm at your disposal anytime."
Lu Fan nodded in satisfaction; talking to smart people really saved time and effort.
Giving this guy a hand was definitely the right move!
These words left Tang Jifeng confused. "If you're doing trade, just do trade. Why all the secrecy?"
Lin Tianrong rolled his eyes at his friend. This man was good in every way except for his lack of business sense.
He lowered his voice and explained, "The Eagle Nation is Britain's staunch ally and currently the world's largest supermarket."
"From Thompson submachine guns to Sherman tanks, from aviation aluminum to field rations."
"From basic daily necessities to high-end industrial products."
"From needles and thread to cars and yachts. Everything has a clear price; as long as you have money, you can buy anything."
"Brother Fan wants me to be a 'white glove,' helping him launder funds and bring back all sorts of supplies."
Tang Jifeng's breathing quickened noticeably upon hearing this. "All sorts of supplies? Does that include arms?"
Lin Tianrong patted Tang Jifeng's tense back. "Old Fourth, is this really necessary?"
Compared to Lin Tianrong's nonchalance, Tang Jifeng bristled, rebuking him with a face full of worry: "Is it necessary? Yes!"
"Old Third, when did your courage grow so large that you'd dare touch arms? Do you want to die?"
"Old Fourth, keep your voice down!"
Lin Tianrong pulled Tang Jifeng back down into his seat and reassured him, "Rest assured, Brother Fan won't hurt me."
"Brother Fan provides legitimate funds. Even if it's arms, I'll be purchasing them from a proper arms company."
"Signing contracts, paying deposits, shipping, customs clearance... every step is by the book, legitimate, and without any risk."
"As for where the goods end up in the end, what does that have to do with me?"
"Even if the sky falls, it won't hit my head!"
Lin Tianrong described the whole process calmly; he was very familiar with the role of a "white glove."
Lu Fan couldn't help but look at Lin Tianrong with new respect; scions of prestigious families truly had their own depth.
"In just this short time, you've arranged everything so clearly. You guys are amazing!"
Hearing there was no risk, Tang Jifeng's heart settled back into his chest, but then another question arose:
"By the way, Brother Fan, what do you need arms for?"
"I was just about to ask you about that. Do you have any acquaintances in Yangcheng? Someone absolutely reliable."
"Of course. That's where my eldest brother got his start. But for someone absolutely reliable, there's only Zheng Qunxiang of Huangsha Port."
"He used to be my brother's guard back then..."
Before he could finish, Tang Jifeng keenly sensed the intention: "You want to transport weapons back into the country?"
Just as the words left his mouth, a knock sounded at the door, giving Tang Jifeng a fright.
We're talking about a matter that could cost us our heads!
"Who is it! Which blind fool..."
He ran to the door in a rage, but when he saw who it was, he immediately humbled himself.
He swallowed the rest of his sentence and forced a smile, changing his tune: "Seventh Miss Sheng, why are you here?"
"Do I need to report my coming and going to you?" Sheng Aiyi rolled her eyes at Tang Jifeng as she entered. "Close the door."
With that, she walked briskly over to Lu Fan and handed him the documents in her hand. "The company is already registered."
"This is the dividend agreement I've drafted. Read it carefully and sign."
"Oh..."
Seeing that Sheng Aiyi clearly hadn't cooled down yet, Lu Fan didn't dare to be reckless.
He stood up, took the documents, and responded mechanically.
"Miss Seven, please sit and talk!"
Facing the powerful aura of the young mistress, Lin Tianrong quickly gave up his seat.
"Smoke, smoke, smoke. You don't even know to open a window while smoking. Aren't you afraid of choking to death!"
Sheng Aiyi didn't appreciate the gesture. She glared at them while opening the window, her powerful aura instantly intimidating the three men.
After reviewing the documents, the dividend ratio was perfectly fine, so Lu Fan picked up a pen and signed his name.
Then he said to Lin Tianrong, "Once you register the company in the Eagle Nation, coordinate directly with Seventh Miss Sheng."
"I will pay you the initial startup capital through Seventh Miss Sheng."
"Once trade begins, ordinary supplies will go through Shanghai, and Seventh Miss Sheng will be fully responsible for sales."
Since everyone was here, Lu Fan didn't hide anything and laid things out in front of them.
All of them were old hands who had weathered the business world for years; with just a few words, everyone understood their respective roles.
The domestic white glove was Seventh Miss Sheng, the overseas white glove was Lin Tianrong, and the financial backer was Lu Fan.
"No problem!" Sheng Aiyi was the first to speak, her response crisp and without a hint of hesitation.
Learning that Sheng Aiyi was also a member of the "white glove" team, Lin Tianrong let go of his last bit of concern. "No problem on my end either."
"Good. As the saying goes, words are fleeting, but writing remains."
Lu Fan pulled a stack of agency contracts from his bag. "Since no one has any objections, please sign."
Sheng Aiyi scanned the contract and signed her name in a bold, flowing script.
Lin Tianrong, on the other hand, was much more cautious. After carefully reading the terms, he solemnly signed his name.
Lu Fan glanced at Tang Jifeng. "What are you looking at? Come over and sign."
"Me, do business? Brother Fan, are you all right?"
Tang Jifeng had a lot of self-awareness. He knew a little bit about everything, except for business, which he just couldn't grasp.
The silver dollars he had lost in business in his early years were roughly equal to the amount Lu Fan had generously provided last night.
"Counting on you? Only if pigs can fly." Sheng Aiyi rolled her eyes and said crossly, "I've already talked to Xu Lai."
"She will set up a company in Yangcheng to handle overseas procurement through the convenient traffic between Yangcheng and Hong Kong Island."
"Now that Old Third Lin is going to the Eagle Nation for procurement, the Yangcheng line can be freed up specifically to handle high-profit goods."
Lin Tianrong's eyes lit up. "Exactly, Old Fourth. With your family's connections and your status, who would dare investigate?"
Sheng Aiyi clarified further, "You don't need to involve yourself in business matters; just wait for your dividends."
"But if anyone comes looking for trouble, you must settle it for me."
Tang Jifeng understood; this was asking him to provide protection. "Seventh Miss Sheng, you always give me the most tiring jobs!"
"What, not satisfied? Or can I no longer order you around?"
Sheng Aiyi glared at him, her aura in full force. "With your habit of spending money like water, you'll be left with nothing but the wind to eat if anything changes."
"If you don't find a way to earn some money while you have the chance, how will you live in the future?"
"Now come over and sign. What are you waiting for?"
