64: Killing someone is nothing more than a head falling to the ground.

Five, a full five small targets, a long string of zeros burned like red-hot branding irons into their eyes.

Time seemed to have been paused at this moment.

The cold, venomous, triumphant curve on Zhou Wei's face froze completely the instant she saw that string of numbers.

Her lips, painted with expensive lipstick, gaped wide enough to fit two eggs.

All her schemes, cunning, malice, and ruthlessness were utterly shattered at this moment.

She sat back in her chair, utterly lost, her eyes filled with endless confusion.

The twisted, triumphant sneer on Li Jun's face instantly cracked and fell apart.

The meticulously planned killing move he had painstakingly devised was casually dismantled.

Unwilling to accept it, he staggered backward a few steps with a "thump, thump, thump" and collapsed into a chair, his face ashen.

He stared fixedly at Liu Zhicheng's phone screen, his eyes quickly filling with a spiderweb of blood vessels, shaking his head in disbelief.

He denied it outright: "Impossible, completely impossible!"

"All the relevant units in Hangzhou that could mobilize 5 small targets have already been notified..."

Just as his words trailed off, his gaze suddenly fell on the transfer time in the information.

8:37

In that instant, his eyes lit up as if he had discovered an important clue.

He seemed to have grabbed a lifeline, becoming excited.

"Lu Fan, oh Lu Fan, you almost fooled me," Li Jun exclaimed excitedly. "Your forgery is too realistic."

"If I hadn't seen the transfer time, I might have really been fooled."

"Tell me, which bank would process such a large transaction at 8:30 in the morning?"

Zhou Wei suddenly woke up. Even with clear remittance intentions and instructions for such a large amount of funds,

final transfers still require layer upon layer of signatures and confirmations, taking at least an hour to complete.

Under normal circumstances, such transfers are fastest after 9:30.

Then she gently patted her chest and let out a long sigh: "Exactly, Lu Fan, your acting is too impressive."

"You went to great lengths to deceive us. What a pity~~ you were still one step short in the end."

"Lu Fan, at this point, you're still playing mind games."

"I'll make you understand what it means to be haunted by a malicious ghost and experience what it's like to wish you were dead."

Li Jun, having regained his momentum, issued a blatant threat.

As soon as his words fell, Zhou Wei's phone rang—it was a call from the Bank President.

She answered the phone, but before she could even utter a greeting, she was met with a torrent of scolding.

"Zhou Wei~~ you have some nerve, daring to bypass me and freeze Lu Fan's account without authorization."

"Do you know his company just received 5 targets this morning?"

"Do you know this money was transferred from Shanghai across banks, arriving at 8:37? Do you know what that means?"

Zhou Wei stood up and tried to squeeze in a forced defense: "President, I..."

The president gave her no chance to speak, continuing to berate her: "You dare to mess with a company with such substantial resources."

"Do you have any respect for me? Is there any law? Any justice? You're committing a crime."

"Now they've already filed a real-name complaint with the Banking Regulatory Commission. I don't care where you are or what you're doing."

"If you can't get Lu Fan's forgiveness before lunch, you'll be waiting to step on a sewing machine!"

Under the Gatling-like barrage of scolding, Zhou Wei's body began to shake violently.

The sharp, knife-like high heels that once made her feel superior could no longer support her weight.

"Clang—!"

Her designer briefcase slipped from her hand and hit the ground.

As if all her strength had been drained, her knees gave way, and with a "thud," she knelt straight down on the cold, hard floor.

The sharp pain from her knees hitting the ground was completely drowned out by the phrase "step on a sewing machine" echoing in her mind.

"Weiwei..." Li Jun was about to comfort her when his phone rang at an inopportune moment.

Seeing it was his underling Scarface Wang calling, he frowned: "Scarface, what's up?"

"Boss, it's bad!" Scarface Wang's voice was urgent on the other end. "We've monitored that the accounts we acquired are starting to receive compensation one after another!"

Li Jun's heart tightened, and he quickly asked: "What's going on?"

Scarface Wang's voice grew more urgent: "Boss, the compensation money went directly into those accounts."

"For the batch purchases, it's manageable—we have agreements to pursue them."

"But for those scattered accounts, we're powerless since we don't know their backgrounds."

Li Jun's face instantly turned grave as he realized the severity of the situation.

He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, and asked: "How many are scattered?"

Scarface Wang fell silent. After a commotion on the other end, he responded: "About 20% of the total amount."

Upon hearing the news, Li Jun's world collapsed. 20% conservatively estimated at 10 million, plus the acquisition costs.

This loss would definitely exceed 15 million.

The worst part wasn't just that. Whether it was the funds for acquiring suppliers or consumers, they were all borrowed.

If they couldn't be recovered in time, interest would inevitably pile up over time—after all, every industry has its rules.

He would be dragged into an endless vortex, and bankruptcy could happen in minutes.

Even more terrifying, if he couldn't repay, those people were capable of anything. He might even be sold to Northern Myanmar.

Thinking of this, Li Jun's face turned pale, his lips trembled violently, his eyes completely glazed over as he stared blankly ahead.

As if he had lost all skeletal support, he instantly collapsed to the ground like mud.

For a moment, deathly silence filled the office.

"Heaven's retribution can be survived; self-inflicted retribution cannot!"

Lu Fan slowly stood up, calmly glanced at the two of them, left a remark, and walked straight out of the office.

He would not forgive, nor would he show leniency.

In the adult world, you only screen, not educate; you only choose, not change.

If you make a mistake, you must accept punishment; if you're beaten, you stand straight. People must pay for their actions.

However, as an old acquaintance of many years, he still left them with a final shred of dignity.

His departure cut off any thoughts they had of kneeling and begging for mercy, playing the victim to gain sympathy and forgiveness.

Killing is just a matter of a nod; settle scores and grievances, but beyond that, it's unnecessary.

As Lu Fan stepped out, he ran into Liu Zhicheng, who was clearly keeping an eye on the situation.

Liu Zhicheng, with a face full of indignation, kindly reminded him: "President Lu, you mustn't soften your heart and let them off easily."

Lu Fan gently patted Liu Zhicheng's shoulder: "Uncle Liu, don't worry, I won't soften my heart."

"They'll be dealt with as they should be; they must pay for their mistakes."

"But keep an eye on them, don't let anything happen to them at the company."

Liu Zhicheng breathed a slight sigh of relief, then said solemnly: "Understood, I'll have Old Sun from the Security Team come over!"

"You handle it," Lu Fan said, then headed straight for the meeting room. "Uncle Liu, be quick, don't be late for the meeting."
