165: brigade commander's resolute

After Lu Fan gave the orders, four tanks quickly gathered around him, forming a line of steel defense.

On the other side, Li Zhenshan and the others began to cut loose completely.

Like a pack of hungry wolves, they plunged headlong into the japanese ranks.

While eliminating the devils, they created the space and time for the Friendly Forces to evacuate safely.

"Brigade Commander Huang! We're here to back you up, get in!"

Lu Fan called out through the loudspeaker to the soldiers outside, who were nearly dazed by the sight.

After a brief moment of shock, Brigade Commander Huang Meixin snapped out of it and climbed onto the tank's outer hull.

Lu Fan quickly ordered Li Zhenshan, "Rejoin the unit immediately! Retreat!"

As the tanks crossed Bazi Bridge to the west, a sharp whistling sound echoed from the sky.

The devils' retaliatory artillery fire carpeted their former position.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The violent explosions instantly engulfed and destroyed Brigade Commander Huang Meixin's former command post.

Ten minutes later, Lu Fan and his team retreated to the 264th Brigade's defense zone.

Just then, the system's notification sound rang out in Lu Fan's mind.

[Side quest completed. Reward: 10,000 points, one random supply card.]

[Task completion: 160%. Evaluation: S. Reward: 10,000 points, one random potion card.]

He casually opened the blind box cards: [10,000 Garand rifles], [One set of Intermediate Strengthening Mixtures].

Lu Fan took out the [One set of Intermediate Strengthening Mixtures].

From the six potions, he accurately picked out the Wisdom Mixture for brain enhancement.

He handed it to the weary-looking A-Fu and instructed, "Drink it!"

Then Lu Fan opened the hatch and jumped out of the tank.

Brigade Commander Huang Meixin, who had been waiting nearby, immediately stepped forward and gripped Lu Fan's hand tightly. "Sir..."

"If not for you leading these heavenly troops to descend today, I would already be a pile of dry bones. Please accept my bow for saving my life!"

"Yes! We cannot repay you enough for saving our lives. Please accept our bow!"

The rescued people were emotional, and the Security Team Members bowed in salute as they spoke.

Lu Fan quickly supported him. "Brigade Commander Huang, you're being too polite. As fellow Chinese, resisting foreign aggression is our duty."

Brigade Commander Huang Meixin waved his hand and instructed the Chief of Staff beside him, "Deng Guang, contact the brigade headquarters."

"Bring out our best food and medicine to entertain this gentleman and these brave warriors."

"Also, immediately allocate fuel to resupply the gentleman's tanks!"

He looked with burning eyes at those twenty powerful type 80 tanks.

Images of these steel beasts wreaking havoc on the devils' positions kept flashing through his mind.

In an instant, he realized that this armored army had already helped tear through the japanese defense lines.

Now was the perfect time to press the advantage and expand their gains.

That's right; as long as they committed their active forces now, they could definitely break into the heart of the devils' positions.

"Signalman, immediately order all officers and soldiers in the defense zone to assemble. Have the reserves move to the front line as quickly as possible and prepare for battle."

Keenly capturing opportunities and acting with swift decisiveness was always Brigade Commander Huang Meixin's style.

The fire of war was rekindled in his eyes, as if he could already see the vision of victory.

Hearing this, Chief of Staff Deng Guang's eyes gleamed again, filled with fighting spirit.

He shouted, "Brothers, assemble! Let's strike straight at the heart and avenge our fallen comrades!"

For a moment, morale soared, and the officers and soldiers in the defense zone were eager to strike back.

However, just then...

A signalman rushed forward and presented a telegram to Huang Meixing with both hands. "Brigade Commander! Urgent telegram from Jinling!"

Brigade Commander Huang Meixin took the telegram and scanned it quickly.

Instantly, the excitement and passion on his face froze.

It was replaced by extreme shock and confusion, which finally turned into overwhelming rage.

His hands shook violently with rage; that thin slip of paper felt as heavy as a mountain.

"Hold the defense zone and stay put? ... What... what kind of order is this? How are we supposed to fight this war?"

He snapped his head up, eyes bloodshot, and roared at the sky, his voice filled with grief, indignation, and resentment.

"The opportunity is fleeting! My brothers are almost all gone just to create this chance!"

"Now, with a mere piece of paper, you want us to watch the devils reorganize their defenses?"

"How can we face our fallen brothers like this!"

"What kind of muddled war is this anyway!!"

At the height of his grief and anger, he suddenly grabbed his military cap and slammed it onto the ground. "This uniform isn't worth wearing!"

"I, Huang, will resist this absurd order! Anyone willing to follow Old Huang, come with me!"

"Brigade Commander!" Chief of Staff Deng Guang stepped forward, his face also filled with resentment. "Wherever you go, Deng Guang follows."

"We will follow the Brigade Commander to the death!" The soldiers of the Signal Platoon nearby also shouted in unison, their emotions running high.

"Brigade Commander Huang, you've got guts! Old Li respects you as a real man!"

Li Zhenshan jumped off the tank and pounded his chest with his fist to show his respect to Brigade Commander Huang Meixin.

Hearing this ridiculous order, the Security Team Members all had angry expressions.

But they were unanimous in their praise for Brigade Commander Huang Meixin: "Brigade Commander Huang has spirit; he's a real man!"

Lu Fan, who had witnessed the entire scene, remained calm and composed.

He had long known this would be the outcome. It was no exaggeration to say that if not for the reckless orders from the one in Jinling...

...with the officers and soldiers united and charging forward without fear of death...

...there would have been several opportunities to crush the devils in the Shanghai at the start of the war.

Looking at the grief-stricken Brigade Commander Huang Meixin, who was about to defy military orders and attack, Lu Fan spoke calmly, "Brigade Commander Huang, perhaps I can fulfill your wish for you."

As soon as he said this, before Brigade Commander Huang Meixin could react, Li Zhenshan was the first to jump out and roar excitedly, "Boss!"

"I've been waiting for you to say that! The brothers and their gear have been waiting; we can't wait any longer!"

"Let's f*ck them up!"

"Avenge our fallen compatriots!"

The Security Team Members immediately erupted in a warm response, quickly assembling and checking their equipment with swift movements and high morale.

Brigade Commander Huang Meixin looked at this private force that had no official designation, was unimaginably well-equipped, and possessed such high morale.

Comparing them to that cold piece of paper, he made a decision in an instant.

The hesitation and grief in his eyes turned into an incredibly firm resolve as he looked at Lu Fan with piercing eyes.

"Boss... if you don't mind me being a burden, please take me with you."

"I don't want this position of Brigade Commander anymore. I only ask to be a soldier who can truly kill the devils."

Before Lu Fan could speak, Li Zhenshan spoke up first, "Brigade Commander Huang, you carry the big picture. We'll handle the charging and fighting!"

What was meant as kind protection sounded so harsh in Huang Meixin's ears at this moment.

He neatly ripped off his shoulder straps, clutching them tightly in his palm one second...

...and resolutely letting go the next, allowing the golden shoulder straps to fall to the ground.

He took a deep breath and said in a low voice to the signalman beside him, "Send a telegram to headquarters:"

"In today's battle to attack the japanese Naval Headquarters, Brigade Commander Huang Meixin fought bravely and died for his country."

This decisive abandonment of his status as Brigade Commander.

These powerful, resonant words.

All of it declared: He, Brigade Commander Huang Meixin, would rather remain in the historical record under the name of 'killed in action'...

...than live a cowardly life and miss this chance to strike the invaders and serve his country by killing the enemy.

Before the signalman could react, another forceful voice rang out, "Add my name too!"
