198: Chapter 198 Professor Status Acquired

Kyoto's southern suburbs, New Martial Arts Special Strategy Department.

Afternoon sunlight spilled into the office through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows.

Lin Fan sat behind the desk made of a solid piece of S-Rank memory metal, toying with the document that had just arrived. The smile on his face grew wider and wider, until the corners of his mouth almost reached his ears.

It was an official document with a red header, stamped with the dual seals of the Ministry of Education and Kyoto University; the bright red ink carried an inviolable majesty.

"This is to appoint Major General Lin Fan as an Honorary Professor at the Practical Combat Academy of Kyoto University, responsible for teaching the two elective courses 'Battlefield Resource Studies' and 'Special Item Application,' enjoying the treatment of a full professor and campus access privileges."

Lin Fan flicked the thin piece of paper with his finger, producing a crisp sound.

This was more than just an appointment letter.

It was an entry ticket that would allow him, this Shrewd Merchant, to legitimately enter Kyoto University, a sheep pen full of fat sheep.

"Tsk tsk, that old man Wang Wenyuan is actually quite efficient."

Lin Fan threw the appointment letter onto the desk, leaned back comfortably, and let out a satisfied sigh, "I thought it would be delayed for a few days, didn't expect it to arrive the very next day."

Qin Feng, standing opposite the desk, leaned over to take a look and immediately gasped.

"Brother Fan, are you really going to be a professor at Kyoto University?"

Qin Feng's expression was a bit strange, as if he was holding back laughter, or perhaps mourning for those future students, "If those old pedants at Kyoto University knew you were treating their ivory tower like a wet market, they'd probably be so angry they'd jump out of their coffins."

Kyoto University was a holy land in the hearts of countless students in China.

Which of its professors wasn't a highly respected, learned senior?

Even the instructors at the Practical Combat Academy were iron-blooded soldiers who had fought their way out of mountains of corpses and seas of blood, each one as serious as a stone.

Letting a Shrewd Merchant like Lin Fan, who was full of the stench of copper and constantly talked about harvesting leeks and selling blind boxes, become a professor?

The picture was too beautiful; Qin Feng couldn't even imagine it.

"Superficial."

Lin Fan rolled his eyes at him, picked up his teacup and took a sip, "What do you mean by 'wet market'? I'm going there to spread advanced battlefield survival concepts."

"Think about it, do those proud sons of heaven who grew up in greenhouses know what maximizing resource utilization means? Do they know what equivalent exchange in life-and-death combat means?"

"They don't!"

Lin Fan slammed his teacup down, his voice rising a few notches, "They only know how to cultivate by the book, only know how to use resources given by their parents to stack up their cultivation realms. Once they hit the Ten Thousand Races Battlefield, these kinds of people die the fastest."

"And I am going to teach them how to survive, and by the way... collect some tuition fees."

When he said the words "tuition fees," the light in Lin Fan's eyes flickered again.

Qin Feng couldn't help but shiver; he was too familiar with that look in Lin Fan's eyes. Back at the Tianjiao Camp, he hadn't harvested few leeks from the students.

However, the students had indeed gained a lot of benefits, so they were willing to be harvested.

Now, it was Kyoto University's turn.

"Brother Fan, how do you plan to teach?"

Qin Feng asked cautiously, "The students at Kyoto University are not like those rogue cultivators outside; they are all very arrogant and have deep backgrounds. If you just sell blind boxes directly, they might not buy it."

"Who said I was going to sell them directly?"

Lin Fan shook a finger, a mysterious smile appearing on his face, "The highest level of marketing is to make the customer feel like they are taking advantage of you, even begging you to sell to them."

"What do Kyoto University students lack?"

"Money? No, most of them don't lack money. Resources? The school has a points exchange center, they don't lack that either."

"What they lack is stimulation, the thrill of breaking conventions, that illusion of betting big to turn a bicycle into a motorcycle."

Lin Fan stood up, walked to the holographic map by the window, and drew a circle around the location of Kyoto University.

"Blind boxes are the art of selling hope and probability."

"I want to turn my classroom into the biggest casino in all of Kyoto... oh no, the biggest practical combat simulation field."

"I will make them understand that in my class, as long as you are lucky, an F-Rank Talent can also counterattack an S-Rank genius; as long as you dare to gamble, a pauper can instantly possess divine weapons."

"Of course, if you're unlucky..."

Lin Fan shrugged, smiling like a fox that had stolen a chicken, "Then you can only blame yourself for having bad luck, and by the way, contribute to my business empire."

Qin Feng was dumbfounded.

He suddenly felt that if Lin Fan didn't go into pyramid schemes, it would be a waste of talent.

After this whole theory, let alone those students who hadn't seen much of the world, even he, a victim who had been scammed several times, felt his blood boiling just listening, wanting to open a couple of blind boxes right now to test his luck.

"By the way, how is that guy Mo Yu doing?"

Lin Fan's tone suddenly shifted, the fanaticism in his eyes instantly receding, replaced by a cold, clear-headedness.

Qin Feng hurriedly put away his thoughts and said solemnly, "Still in the archives. According to your instructions, no one has had contact with him these past few days except for the person delivering food. I also had people monitor the archives' surveillance twenty-four hours a day, and didn't find anything unusual."

"No abnormality is the biggest abnormality."

Lin Fan sneered, "A master with the cultivation of a martial artist and a mysterious background, willing to organize waste paper in the basement."

"This person's self-control is even stronger than I imagined."

"However, since he likes to pretend, let him pretend to his heart's content."

Lin Fan walked back to the desk, picked up the appointment letter, and tapped it gently.

"I don't have time to deal with this little mouse right now. Once I take over Kyoto University, and have time, I'll slowly deal with him."

"Notify Qian Duoduo and have him prepare a batch of special teaching aids."

"Since it's a class, there must be some welcome gifts."

"I want that kind of blind box that looks unremarkable, but can blind you the moment you open it. No need for many, a hundred is enough."

"Also, find all those scrapped standard longswords and broken armor we salvaged from the military warehouse before."

Qin Feng was stunned: "Brother Fan, what do you want with that junk? Not even scrap metal dealers want them."

"Scrap metal?"

Lin Fan raised an eyebrow, picked up a pen from the table, and gestured in the air, "In the eyes of mediocre people, it's scrap metal. In my hands, they are antique teaching aids full of battlefield vicissitudes and containing the will of martyrs."

"Don't Kyoto University students like sentimentality? I'll sell them sentimentality."

"Repackage these things, use some aging techniques, and invent a few touching stories."

"For example, this broken sword was snapped by some nameless hero while killing an alien lord; this heart protector once blocked a fatal blow from an Abyss Demon General..."

"The more tragic the story, the better; the more passionate, the better."

"Then, put these things into blind boxes as hidden items."

Qin Feng was stunned, and in the end, could only give a thumbs up, squeezing out a sentence: "Brother Fan, you are really... too shameless."

"Thanks for the compliment."

Lin Fan accepted this evaluation without hesitation.

He looked at the base under heated construction outside the window, the ambition in his eyes released without reservation at this moment.

The professor status was just the first step.

His goal was to plant the flag of Myriad Treasures Pavilion in every corner of Kyoto.

To let those high-and-mighty aristocratic descendants, those self-proclaimed geniuses, all eventually become laborers under his blind box system.

And all of this would start from this "first lesson" about to begin.
