70: Chapter 70 Desperate Defense Line

"Sentry Tower Seven has lost contact!"

"Shield Three energy is below five percent! Requesting support! Requesting support!"

The communication channel was filled with electrical static and the dying roars of soldiers.

Casualties were rapidly mounting on the western defense line of Jianghai Jianghai.

This place had already turned into a meat grinder.

The swarming beast tide, like a black tsunami, slammed against the crumbling light barrier wave after wave.

With every impact, the Jianghai wall trembled.

The Jianghai wall was covered in severed limbs and gore.

Third Battalion Captain Chen Gang leaned against a sandbag; the C-grade alloy combat blade in his hand was notched and even had a broken tip.

His left sleeve hung empty, with a tourniquet wrapped around the stump, blood still seeping out.

"Ammo! Where the hell is my ammo?"

Chen Gang roared at the communications soldier behind him.

The communications soldier was a rookie, his face covered in ash, looking desperate: "Captain, the logistics line is cut... A flying exotic beast just overturned the transport vehicle, and supplies can't get through."

"Damn it!"

Chen Gang slammed his fist hard against the ground.

Without spirit energy bullets, relying only on hand-to-hand combat, how were they, ordinary soldiers at most at the three-star martial artist level, supposed to stop those thick-skinned Ironclad Rhinoceroses outside?

"Boom!"

A crisp sound rang out.

The pale blue energy shield overhead finally collapsed under the strain, shattering into specks of light filling the sky.

A foul, bloody wind rushed into their faces.

An Ironclad Rhinoceros over five meters tall smashed through the fortifications, its massive horn sending two soldiers flying.

Despair.

Cold despair spread through the trenches.

Everyone gripped their broken weapons tightly, preparing to face their final death.

Just at that moment.

"Vroom~"

A roar of a violent engine drowned out even the roars of the exotic beasts.

The sound didn't come from the rear safe zone, but from the ruins on the flank.

Chen Gang turned his head instinctively.

He saw a heavily modified black off-road vehicle, like an out-of-control steel monster, smashing straight through the stone pillars blocking the way.

The vehicle drifted wildly on the rubble-filled road, its four wheels kicking up clouds of dust.

"Screech!"

A shrill sound of brakes rang out.

The off-road vehicle pulled a sharp drift, coming to a dead stop at the half-collapsed entrance of the logistics station.

The car door was kicked open.

Lin Fan jumped out of the car.

He wasn't wearing combat armor, still dressed in his slightly thin school uniform, looking completely out of place on the smoke-filled battlefield.

The fatty Zhang Hao followed closely behind, his face pale; clearly shaken by the wild ride, he started retching the moment he landed.

Lin Fan ignored the astonished gazes around him.

He stared at the mountain of exotic beast corpses piled up at the logistics station entrance, almost blocking the passageway.

These had been cleared during the previous battle, but because the transport line was cut, there was no time to transport them away for incineration.

At this moment, in Lin Fan's eyes.

Those weren't corpses.

They were resources, resources for the soldiers to sustain the war through fighting.

They were piles of raw materials for blind boxes.

"It's too tragic."

Lin Fan licked his somewhat chapped lips, a look of reluctance flashing in his eyes.

"What are you doing? This is a restricted military area!"

A logistics director covered in blood and grime rushed out, holding a pistol, his muzzle trembling as he aimed at Lin Fan, "Back off! Or I'll kill you right here!"

He was on the verge of a breakdown, and any anomaly would make him pull the trigger.

Lin Fan didn't even look at the pitch-black muzzle.

He flicked his wrist.

A golden token traced a parabola through the air, accurately hitting the logistics director's bulletproof vest.

"Clang!"

The token hit the ground.

It was engraved with the Jianghai Lord's Mansion seal and the words "Wartime Special Access".

"The Jianghai Lord's personal order."

Lin Fan strode forward, pushing the logistics director blocking his way aside with such force that the man staggered back three steps, "From now on, I am taking over the allocation of supplies here."

"You..."

The logistics director picked up the token, and upon seeing the seal on it, his pupils constricted.

It really was the Jianghai Lord's order.

"What are you standing there for?"

Lin Fan stood before the ten-meter-high mountain of corpses, turned around, and his voice, amplified by spirit energy, drowned out the surrounding noise, "Get everyone who isn't dead yet moving! Bring me all the exotic beast corpses around here, whether they're whole or in pieces!"

"No one is allowed to stop until I say so!"

The surrounding soldiers looked at each other in confusion.

What kind of situation is this?

The front line is about to collapse, and this guy wants to collect corpses?

"Execute the order!"

The fatty finally recovered, and although his legs were still trembling, he yelled at the top of his lungs, "If you want to live, listen to Brother Fan! Hurry!"

Perhaps the word "live" touched their nerves, or perhaps it was the unquestionable aura emanating from Lin Fan.

Several logistics soldiers started moving the corpses.

Lin Fan took a deep breath and slammed both hands onto the Ironclad Rhinoceros that had just died.

System, activate at full power.

[Detected large quantities of raw materials.]

[Batch production in progress...]

There were no complicated movements, no earth-shattering phenomena.

Only on the interface visible to Lin Fan himself did data streams scroll crazily.

Under the horrified gazes of the crowd.

The mountain of flesh and corpses actually began to "melt" at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Bones disintegrated, and flesh reorganized.

The nauseating smell of blood and rot quickly dissipated.

Replacing it was a strange, faint glow.

"Clatter!"

It was like magic.

The massive mountain of corpses disappeared.

Hundreds of neatly arranged boxes appeared in its place.

Red ones, blue ones, white ones.

There were even a few rare ones emitting a purple halo.

This scene completely overturned everyone's perception.

The exotic beasts that were trying to eat them a moment ago had turned into... blind boxes in the blink of an eye?

"What kind of talent is this?" The logistics director dropped his gun on the ground.

Lin Fan didn't explain.

He casually grabbed a red box, which was a "Firepower blind box" made from the corpse of a C-grade Flame Tiger.

"Fatty, get to work!"

Lin Fan threw the box to the fatty and pointed at the Myriad Treasures Pavilion employees arriving behind him, "Distribute these boxes to every soldier! Hurry!"

"Yes!"

The employees of the Myriad Treasures Pavilion were already familiar with the routine and rushed into the trenches with the boxes in their arms.

"Brother, take this, it's yours."

The fatty shoved a box into the arms of the one-armed captain Chen Gang.

Chen Gang looked at the cardboard box in his arms with a cartoon tiger pattern on it, completely stunned.

Although Lin Fan had already been providing blind boxes to the army, the time was too short; apart from Thunder Tiger's unit, which was somewhat familiar with the blind boxes, most other soldiers hadn't seen this stuff before.

"I need bullets, I need potions! What are you giving me a box for? Can this kill the enemy?"

Chen Gang angrily wanted to throw the box away.

This was simply an insult to soldiers!

"Don't throw it!"

Lin Fan's voice instantly spread across the entire battlefield through the battlefield loudspeaker.

He stood on the roof of the off-road vehicle, holding a loudspeaker, his posture straight, yet he was saying the most unbelievable things.

"Those without weapons, open them for weapons!"

"Those without health, open them for potions!"

"If you want to live, open the damn boxes!"

"That's an order!"

Chen Gang's hand froze in mid-air.

The front defense line was torn open again, and three Wind Wolves were lunging at a young soldier with their bloody mouths wide open.

The soldier's gun had long been empty.

He was about to die.
