6: 0 Yuan Purchase Time
The night was as dark as ink, pressing heavily over the sky of Free City.
A box truck with the words "Urban Pest Control Center" printed on it was driving down the empty streets.
Inside the truck, the atmosphere was somewhat stifling, like the calm before a storm.
Viktor's expression was calm, his fingers rhythmically tapping against his knees.
Pan, on the other hand, seemed somewhat agitated, constantly adjusting the gray work uniform that clearly didn't fit him.
"What kind of crappy clothes are these? They're practically sticking to my skin. You didn't buy some cheap knockoffs, did you?"
"You damn ape, do you want to get your head blown off along with your bitch mother?!" Irina, possessing a fiery temper, cursed directly.
"What are you saying! You crazy woman!"
"If you don't want to wear it, take it off and go back to being a bare-assed caveman!" Irina continued her barrage.
"Are you asking for death!"
"Enough, both of you stop!" Ford shouted angrily.
They hadn't even gone to rob the jewelry store yet, and the team was already having internal conflict.
What the hell!
In the back of the truck, Lin Fei, Park Soo-ah, and the few Asian students were also wearing heavy industrial protective suits and gas masks.
The stuffy air mixed with the smell of rubber truly made it feel difficult to breathe.
Park Soo-ah clenched her hands tightly, her body trembling slightly; it was clearly her first time experiencing such a scene.
Irina appeared relatively calm; she crossed her arms, stopped cursing at him, and instead leaned against the truck wall, closing her eyes to rest.
Out of sight, out of mind.
Lin Fei, meanwhile, would occasionally weigh the burger box in his backpack.
This thing tasted amazing; he had to take it back for his sister to try.
The vehicle slowly pulled up near the side entrance of the building housing the "Brightest Star" jewelry store, where the staff and freight entrance was located.
Viktor took a deep breath, straightened his collar, and pushed open the truck door to step out.
Pan, wearing the same uniform, immediately grabbed his toolbox and followed him off the truck.
The two walked toward the security guard post at the entrance.
The security personnel in the booth seemed a bit drowsy; seeing their uniforms, he just asked a few casual questions.
"What are you here for?"
"Routine extermination. I need to go up to the rooftop ventilation shaft."
"What are you doing going to the rooftop?"
"Your building isn't open for business at night, so I need to spray the insecticide from above; it'll diffuse perfectly through the central air conditioning.
In one night, all the mosquitoes and flies will be wiped out.
Rest assured, we have safety certificates from thirteen Advanced laboratories in the country." Viktor explained in a flat tone, simultaneously handing over a forged work order.
The security guard glanced at the work order, looked at the reasonably decent uniforms the two were wearing, and without much suspicion, muttered a word.
"What a hassle in the middle of the night."
Then he took out his magnetic card and swiped it to open the access door to the internal elevator for them.
Viktor and Pan exchanged a glance, a glint of success flashing in their eyes, and they quickly walked into the elevator.
The elevator rose steadily, the numbers ticking upward.
In the cramped space, there was only the faint noise of the elevator running.
Pan opened the toolbox; inside were not screwdrivers or wrenches, but several cylindrical metal canisters with danger warning labels printed on them.
Viktor looked down at the watch on his wrist, calculating the time.
"You remember the rooftop layout, right? Don't make a mistake about the location of the main ventilation shaft," Viktor reminded him in a low voice.
Pan nodded, "Don't worry, Boss, I could find it with my eyes closed."
The elevator "dinged" as it reached the top floor, and the doors slowly slid open.
The rooftop was empty and deserted, with only the whistling wind and the distant clamor of the city.
The two found the entrance to the main ventilation duct with ease; it was a huge square opening covered by a metal grille.
Pan pried open the grille and, without hesitation, threw several sleeping gas canisters inside.
The metal canisters made a slight sound as they collided with the duct walls, and shortly after, a colorless, odorless gas spread rapidly into the interior of the building, carried by the powerful airflow.
After finishing this, Viktor and Pan quickly went downstairs.
Ten minutes later, the dense sleeping gas, like an invisible tide, flowed along the intricate ventilation ducts.
It silently spread to every corner of the building, especially the security monitoring room and the main passageways.
In the monitoring room, several security guards who had originally been chatting or dozing off found their eyelids becoming heavy at almost the same time; their heads lolled to the side, and they fell into a deep sleep, their walkie-talkies sliding to the floor.
The security guards patrolling the corridors also collapsed limply, as if all their strength had been drained from them.
The entire security System was completely paralyzed within a few minutes.
Even the staff in the jewelry hall on the first floor fell to the ground, sprawled out and fast asleep.
Almost at the same time, the back door of the box truck parked outside the building swung open violently.
Lin Fei, Irina, Park Soo-ah, as well as Ford and his remaining subordinates, filed out like agile cheetahs.
They were all wearing heavy industrial protective suits and gas masks on their faces.
"Quick, quick, quick! Our Genius hacker says he only has one minute to block the electronic security System!"
"After one minute, the alarm will start howling like a rabid dog that's been screwed!"
One of Ford's subordinates shouted anxiously.
"Damn it! One minute?!" Ford was furious upon hearing this, cursing while spitting, "Fox! The hacker I paid a fortune to hire only gives me a damn minute?"
"Did he graduate from kindergarten?"
"Does he not even know how to install antivirus software? Damn!"
"One minute! Hell!"
"I bet his dad only spent a minute making him!" Irina also cursed.
Despite the anger, the action could not be delayed.
Ford kicked open the heavy glass door of the jewelry store; the glass shattered in response, making a harsh crashing sound.
Everyone swarmed in; under the blinding lights, the jewelry was truly tempting!
"Stop looking, damn it! Smash it!"
"Smash it hard for me! Take as much as you can!"
Ford roared, taking the lead by smashing a display counter for diamond necklaces with the butt of his gun.
Others followed suit, frantically destroying the display cases with the crowbars, hammers, and gun butts they had brought.
Clatter, crash!
Glass shards flew everywhere, and the countdown to the alarm appeared before every player's eyes.
Lin Fei's movements were fast as lightning; his eyes precisely locked onto the most valuable exhibits, his hands sweeping over them like phantoms.
This was a skill he had practiced back when he was a child, scrambling for relief food.
If he didn't grab enough, he and the other children in the orphanage would go hungry, so Lin Fei had trained inhuman hand speed and eyesight.
Bang, bang, bang!
One cabinet after another was smashed by Lin Fei.
The gem rings and diamond necklaces inside were grabbed by him and stuffed into his bag.
"Awesome!"
"Is this the thrill of a 'Zero-Dollar Purchase'!" Irina laughed.
The System notification sound rang continuously in Lin Fei's mind:
【Obtained 'Tears of Eternity' diamond necklace, value $888,800! Accumulated amount: $893,500!】
...
【Obtained 'Heart of Crimson Flame' ruby ring, value $288,800! Accumulated amount: $1,757,500!】
...
【Obtained 'Deep Sea Star' sapphire earrings, value $158,800! Accumulated amount: $2,893,500!】
Lin Fei's efficiency was astonishing; in just a few dozen seconds, twelve of the twenty most eye-catching top-tier jewelry pieces in the entire store had been pocketed by him, with the total value instantly breaking through three million dollars!
"This kid is so fast!" Viktor glared.
"This must be the hand speed of someone who's been single for eighty years!" Pan also said with surprise.
While talking, the others weren't idle either, each grabbing valuable jewelry.
Park Soo-ah and the few students seemed somewhat flustered, mostly picking up the small accessories scattered on the floor.
"Time's almost up! Thirty seconds!" Ford's subordinate warned again.
"Twenty seconds!"
"Ten seconds!"
"Retreat! Retreat quickly!" Ford roared, grabbing a final handful of diamond fragments, stuffing them into his pocket, and charging out first.
The others didn't bother to loot anymore, each shouldering their heavy backpacks and running wildly outside.
After all, having Transmigrated here, all of this was real; if they were a few steps too slow, they would definitely get caught!
Rushing out of the building, the night breeze blew on their faces, slightly dispelling the stuffiness brought by the protective suits.
Lin Fei could see that the amount in front of him was $4.75 million.
If only this could be taken back to reality and exchanged for real money.
Lin Fei thought to himself.
Across the street, several high-horsepower motorcycles were ready, with the keys already in the ignition.
This was part of the plan to facilitate a quick escape.
Everyone scrambled onto the motorcycles, twisted the throttles, and the engines roared loudly.
"Go!"
Ford took the lead, charging out along the planned route.
Lin Fei followed closely behind, and Irina, Viktor, and the others followed suit.
The motorcycles, like ghosts in the night, sped wildly down the empty streets.
However, accidents always happen when you least expect them.
Just after rushing past the first street corner, a male student at the end of the line—clearly driving such a high-horsepower heavy motorcycle for the first time, combined with extreme nervousness—made an operational error, and the front of his bike swerved violently, crashing straight into a concrete flowerbed on the side of the road!
"Oh, shit!"
Bang!
A dull, loud noise!
The motorcycle rolled and flew out, parts scattering everywhere.
The male student was thrown out violently like a broken ragdoll, hit the edge of the flowerbed, and then collapsed limp on the ground, motionless, his life or death unknown.
Hearing the commotion, the few people in front subconsciously looked back, including Lin Fei.
He saw the figure lying on the ground, along with the jewelry scattered all over the place and the broken helmet.
But no one stopped, and no one even said a word.
"Unlucky bastard!"
Ford just glanced back and continued accelerating without looking back.
Viktor and Irina didn't even slow down.
A flash of reluctance flickered in Park Soo-ah's eyes, but looking at the indifferent companions around her and the approaching siren sounds behind them, she could only grit her teeth and continue to follow.
In this cruel game, sympathy is the cheapest thing.
No one would sacrifice their own chance of survival for a stranger who fell behind.
"Woo—woo—woo—"
The sharp, piercing sound of sirens came from far to near, quickly surrounding them from all directions.
The alternating red and blue police lights flickered and jumped in the night, piercing through the darkness.
Dozens of police cars, like hounds that had caught the scent of blood, were biting at their tails.
"Vehicle ahead, stop immediately! Repeat!"
"Pull over and stop for inspection immediately!" A severe warning came from the loudspeaker on the police car.
But the motorcycle team had no intention of slowing down at all; instead, they twisted the throttles to the max, attempting to shake off the pursuit.
"Warning ineffective! Preparing to use force!" The voice in the loudspeaker became cold.
The next second,
"Bang! Bang, bang!"
Crisp gunshots rang out!
Bullets whistled past their ears, striking the road surface and sparking strings of fire!
"Fuck! They're shooting!" someone in the team screamed in terror.
Chaos and fear began to spread.
Another male student, likely scared out of his wits by the gunshots, jerked the handlebars, attempting to turn into an alley.
But because of the excessive speed, he lost control, crashing into a wall with the bike, making a loud noise and following in the footsteps of the first victim.
"Argh!"
One of Ford's subordinates let out a scream, his body shook violently, and blood spurted from his back.
He weakly released the throttle, the motorcycle slid crookedly for a distance, and finally tipped over on the ground.
"Kill them!"
Irina, however, erupted with a morbid excitement in this extremely dangerous situation!
She twisted her body violently, steering the motorcycle with one hand, while pulling out the Glock pistol from her waist with the other, firing repeatedly at a police car that was in hot pursuit!
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The bullets accurately hit the police car's windshield, and spiderweb-like cracks spread rapidly.
"Hit it! Haha! So satisfying!"
She shouted excitedly, her long golden hair dancing wildly in the wind, her face beaming with a crazy smile,
"This is even more exciting than playing GTA! So awesome!"
Viktor also pulled out his pistol, calmly shooting backward, trying to suppress the police car's firepower.
The gunshots, the roaring engines, the sirens, and the shouting were all mixed together.
It could be said to be deafening.
Lin Fei frowned; he didn't shoot back, as he didn't know how and hadn't been trained.
He focused all his attention on controlling the motorcycle while closely monitoring the System panel.
Lin Fei had long noticed that a marker similar to a game's wanted level had appeared before his eyes.
After they opened fire, the police star rating instantly soared from two stars to three stars!
This meant that the police would deploy more forces, and might even use heavy weapons and air support!
