7: Liberty City Street Rush
Under the night sky of Free City, the sound of sirens wailed like wild beasts.
They grew denser and more piercing.
The alternating red and blue police lights tore through the darkness, pouring in from all directions, latching onto the desperate, speeding motorcycle convoy, tightening the encirclement.
A dozen, two dozen!
The number of police cars kept increasing, surging like a tide, blocking every possible escape route.
"Damn it! There are more and more cops! Ford! That idiot hacker you found is truly useless!" Pan roared into his communicator while struggling to control his heavy motorcycle.
No one responded.
The atmosphere in the team was tense to the extreme; everyone had the throttle pinned, focused only on fleeing for their lives.
Bullets rained down like hail.
They struck the vehicles and the road with a series of pops, sending sparks flying.
One slight mistake would mean death and destruction.
Viktor's eyes were cold, a hint of ruthlessness sweeping across his lips.
He abruptly shifted his aim, no longer targeting the pursuing police cars, but instead pointing his gun at a large container truck driving normally in the adjacent lane!
"Bang! Bang!"
Two gunshots rang out, and the bullets precisely pierced the windshield of the cabin, striking the unsuspecting truck driver!
The driver's body slumped over, and the steering wheel instantly went out of control.
The massive container truck, like a wild horse breaking free from its reins, let out a piercing screech of tires and swerved violently to the right!
Boom!
With a deafening crash, the truck slammed hard into the wall of a roadside building. The front of the truck was severely deformed, and the massive trailer lay across the road, instantly blocking the entire street!
Lin Fei, following behind Viktor, had no time to react!
The massive object suddenly appearing before him made his pupils shrink.
"Fuck!"
Lin Fei cursed angrily, slamming on the brakes and attempting to swerve.
But the motorcycle, traveling at high speed, could not complete such an abrupt turn!
The tires let out a sharp screech against the ground, and it uncontrollably slammed into the concrete curb on the side of the road!
A tremendous impact hit him, and Lin Fei felt as if he had been violently thrown by an invisible giant hand!
His body soared into the air, tracing a perilous arc.
Fortunately, there happened to be a patch of municipal lawn behind the curb.
He landed heavily on the soft grass, rolling several times before coming to a stop.
Intense pain radiated from all over his body, especially his shoulders and back; it burned, as if his bones were about to fall apart.
But he couldn't spare the time to check his injuries and struggled to stand up.
Just then, the piercing sound of a motorcycle engine approached from afar.
It was Pan!
The tall Black man wore a hideous grin as he rode his motorcycle up to Lin Fei.
As he passed by, he leaned to one side and reached out, precisely grabbing the backpack that Lin Fei had just dropped on the lawn. That backpack filled with jewelry worth millions of dollars!
"Hehe! Thanks, kid!" Pan's smug, weird laughter drifted in the night wind. He twisted the throttle hard, and the motorcycle spewed a cloud of black smoke as he sped away.
Leaving Lin Fei lying alone on the lawn, his eyes splitting with rage!
"Bastard!"
Lin Fei was so angry he shook as if a stone giant were causing an earthquake.
He slammed his fist into the ground.
The movement aggravated his wounds, making him wince in pain.
He instantly understood that this had all been calculated!
Viktor had deliberately caused the accident, not just to block the police, but to stop him and make it easier for Pan to snatch the massive fortune in his backpack!
These two bastards had ill intentions from the very beginning!
The motorcycle was gone, the backpack had been stolen, and the sirens behind him were getting closer.
Was his first trial going to end in failure in such a frustrating way?
A strong sense of unwillingness and anger welled up in Lin Fei's heart.
"Mr. Lin Fei! Are you okay?" A slightly anxious and timid female voice rang out.
Lin Fei struggled to lift his head and saw Park Soo-ah parked on a motorcycle at the edge of the lawn.
She was still wearing a gas mask, so her expression was unclear, but the concern in her voice was very genuine.
"Quick! Get on!" Park Soo-ah reached out toward Lin Fei.
Lin Fei froze for a moment, then reacted, a trace of warmth welling up in his heart.
He ignored the pain, struggled to get up, stumbled to the motorcycle, and climbed onto the back seat.
"Hold on tight!" Park Soo-ah reminded him and twisted the throttle hard.
The motorcycle let out a roar, carrying the two of them as they shot off.
She was clearly not as much of a novice as the students who had died earlier; although she was still a bit nervous, her driving skills were quite steady.
On the motorcycle's dashboard was a simple electronic map, marked with a flashing red dot.
That was the final rendezvous and extraction point set by the System. It was located at the entrance of an abandoned subway station on the edge of the city.
Following the map's instructions, Park Soo-ah took many turns, avoiding the main police blockade, and finally drove into a vehicle tunnel leading underground.
The lights in the tunnel were dim, and the air was filled with a damp, moldy smell.
Only the two of them were traveling through the underground, lonely and fast.
"Thank you." Lin Fei said, panting, enduring the pain in his back.
"N-no need to thank me. We... we are on the same team." Park Soo-ah's voice was still trembling a little, but her tone was firm.
"Was it Viktor and Pan who stole your things? They are too detestable!"
"Yeah, they were plotting against us from the start." Lin Fei's eyes were cold.
"Park Soo-ah, when we get close to the rendezvous point later, find a place to park the bike first, and we'll walk the rest of the way. I feel like things aren't that simple."
Since Viktor and Pan could betray him without hesitation, they could just as easily harm others.
Although Park Soo-ah was a bit confused, she nodded: "Okay, I'll listen to you."
A few minutes later, according to the map, they were less than 500 meters from the rendezvous point.
Park Soo-ah parked the motorcycle next to an abandoned ventilation shaft.
The two got off the bike and cautiously crept toward the rendezvous point.
The abandoned subway station entrance was hidden in an area overgrown with weeds, and the surroundings were deathly silent.
Approaching the entrance, a strong smell of blood assailed their noses, making Lin Fei and Park Soo-ah's hearts sink.
They lightened their footsteps, hid behind a huge, graffiti-covered concrete pillar, and peeked into the subway station entrance.
The scene before them confirmed Lin Fei's worst guess!
Lying scattered on the open ground at the entrance were several corpses! It was exactly Ford and his remaining men!
Everyone had obvious gunshot wounds, blood stained the ground, and the scene was horrific.
Viktor and Pan were standing in the middle of the corpses, with greedy and cruel smiles on their faces, looting all the jewelry from Ford and his men's backpacks and stuffing it into their own bags.
"Haha! Boss Viktor, you're still the best! Now all the treasures are ours! We can earn the most killing coins! One step ahead, and we'll be ahead every step of the way!" Pan laughed excitedly, stuffing a diamond necklace into his pocket.
Viktor appeared much calmer. He checked the ammunition in his pistol and said coldly: "Stop talking nonsense, clean it up quickly, grab Irina's jewelry, and we'll leave. Maybe the police will find this place in a little while."
In the corner, Irina leaned against a filthy wall.
There was an obvious gunshot wound on her abdomen, and blood was continuously seeping out from between her fingers, staining her black leather jacket.
Her face was pale as paper, but her eyes were full of unwillingness.
She had obviously just gone through a battle, but she had ultimately lost and was injured.
"Tsk tsk, what a tenacious woman."
Seeing that Irina was not dead yet, Pan wore a malicious smile and walked toward her with his gun, "Hand over your bag too, maybe if I'm in a good mood, I'll give you a quick death!"
Just as Pan was grinning and approaching Irina, preparing to take her last spoils and perhaps even commit an atrocity, a cold light flashed in Lin Fei's eyes behind the concrete pillar, and he suddenly raised the Glock pistol he had purchased earlier!
He didn't hesitate at all and pulled the trigger on Viktor, who was looting the corpses!
"Bang!" The gunshot echoed in the empty subway station entrance, and the bullet whistled out!
However, after all, this was Lin Fei's first time firing in actual combat; lacking training, he couldn't control his aim at all.
This shot missed completely; the bullet hit the concrete floor not far from Viktor's feet with a "ding," sending up a spray of debris!
Lin Fei cursed inwardly, this wasn't like what they showed in the movies! It was too hard to control the aim of this thing.
The sudden gunshot startled both Viktor and Pan!
Viktor reacted extremely quickly, instantly rolling behind another pillar, while simultaneously raising his gun and vigilantly scanning the direction where Lin Fei was hiding.
"Who?!"
Pan was also startled; he subconsciously raised his gun and pointed it at Irina, but then realized the gunshot came from elsewhere and immediately turned to look for the target.
"Damn! There are still survivors?"
Just in that flash of a second, Park Soo-ah, who had been hiding beside Lin Fei, moved!
She took a deep breath, and her originally nervous and timid eyes instantly became sharp and focused!
She steadily raised that small and delicate-looking Ruger Mark IV pistol with both hands, aiming at Pan, who had just exposed his body.
"Bang! Bang!" Two crisp and rapid gunshots rang out.
Unlike the muffled sound of the Glock, the .22 caliber gunshots sounded a bit thin, but they were still clearly audible in the silent underground space!
The first bullet precisely hit Pan's wrist that was holding the gun!
"Ah!" Pan let out a scream, his pistol slipped from his hand and fell to the ground!
He looked at his spurting wrist in disbelief!
Immediately after, the second bullet, as if it had eyes, precisely drilled into the center of his forehead the moment he screamed in agony.
The expression on Pan's face instantly froze, his body swayed, and then he fell straight backward.
With a "thud," he hit the ground, and blood and white brain matter continuously gushed from the small bullet hole in his forehead; he died instantly!
This sudden turn of events stunned everyone!
Viktor, hiding behind the pillar, never expected that the enemy would have such a precise shooter! He hadn't even seen who fired the shots just now!
Irina was also stunned; she struggled to lift her head and looked in the direction of Lin Fei and Park Soo-ah, her eyes filled with shock.
Lin Fei was even more dumbfounded!
He looked at Park Soo-ah beside him, holding the gun, her little face still a bit pale, but her eyes exceptionally firm, and he simply couldn't believe his eyes!
This girl, who looked so weak and had been nervous the whole way, was actually a hidden sharpshooter?!
Two shots! Just two shots to take down the fierce Pan!
