112: Seat-giving controversy

Jieyin and his companion entered Zixiao Palace and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

If they had missed the Saint's lecture because of repairing the Earth Veins, it would have truly been a loss outweighing the gain.

Then, looking around, the entire hall was already filled with Innate Sacred Beings.

They originally thought of just sitting in the very back.

"Brother, there are still seats ahead!"

Discovering there were still vacancies in front, the two were overjoyed and immediately walked forward.

Seeing more vacancies further ahead, they moved forward again.

Just like that, the two walked all the way to the front row and discovered those six special Prayer Mats.

The thick Heavenly Dao Laws upon them exerted a strong attraction.

But the six Prayer Mats already had owners, which inevitably left them with some regret.

Resigning themselves to their bad luck once more, they were about to sit in a position near the front.

Suddenly, Hong Yun, who was in front, felt something and turned back to meet their gaze.

This glance was all it took for the two to pause their movements again.

The sorrow in their hearts instantly poured out, and the two immediately began to cry.

"My brother and I have suffered so much! Just because we were repairing the Western Earth Veins, we were delayed and almost failed to catch the Saint's lecture."

"With great difficulty, we entered the Saint's Dao field, but we didn't expect to not even have a Prayer Mat to sit on."

"We came here to seek a method of revival for the sentient beings of the West, but we never expected to have no fate with the Saint."

"How bitter!!!"

The two lamented and wailed for quite a while, making everyone feel irritated.

Among the Three Pure Ones, Taiqing naturally ignored them, and Tongtian was also in the midst of comprehending the mysteries of the Heavenly Dao Prayer Mat.

Yuanshi frowned slightly, feeling somewhat dissatisfied with this kind of weeping trickery.

But hearing that they were doing it for the greater good of all sentient beings, he didn't say anything.

The rest of the crowd also adopted an attitude of staying out of what didn't concern them.

Their eyes were tightly closed, but their ears were pricked up, wanting to hear just how long the two could keep up the scene.

Fortunately, the Ancestral Witches were already fast asleep and wouldn't be easily woken; otherwise, the two might have been beaten up.

However, Hong Yun actually took it to heart. Learning they were acting for the righteousness of sentient beings, he immediately felt a bit of pity.

He and Zhenyuanzi had traveled across the Western Continent and naturally knew the suffering of the Western creatures.

When Zhenyuanzi saw his old friend making a move, he immediately wanted to stop him, but it was already too late.

Hong Yun had already stood up and proactively spoke: "Fellow Daoists, please do not be like this!"

"I know your hearts for the sentient beings of the West. Today, I shall yield this seat of mine to you."

As soon as Hong Yun finished speaking, Jieyin took the opportunity to sit down, repeatedly thanking him: "Many thanks to Fellow Daoist Hong Yun for giving up your seat. We shall remember your kindness on behalf of all the sentient beings of the West."

By representing the sentient beings of the West, Jieyin managed to distribute much of this Karma.

Hong Yun shook his head and sighed, giving the two a slight cupped-fist salute.

He then walked over to the spot next to Zhenyuanzi and sat down.

Zhenyuanzi felt a sharp pang of heartache, feeling it wasn't worth it for his old friend.

But things had already reached this point; whatever he said now would be too late.

The other Innate Sacred Beings, seeing this scene, all turned their noses up at the behavior of the Western Duo.

As fellow Innate Sacred Beings, to vent their joys and sorrows so wantonly—what kind of Dao had they truly cultivated?

But at the same time, they couldn't help but feel a bit envious. A good cry could actually trade for a Prayer Mat seat; if they had known, they also... but the show was not yet over, as the Western Duo were still contending.

Although they had obtained one Prayer Mat by pleading their hardships, Zhunti was still standing.

Since they had reached this step, it wouldn't do for only one person to sit on a Prayer Mat. With a bit more effort, perhaps both of them could have a seat.

Sitting on the Prayer Mat, Jieyin first looked ahead. Sitting at the very front were the Three Pure Ones.

These three were known as the Pangus Legitimate Successors, with profound strength and a unified front; they recognized that they couldn't afford to provoke them.

He then shifted his gaze to Nuwa, who was nearby.

Before Nuwa could say anything, Fuxi, who was beside her, stared at them with a warning expression.

If anyone dared to snatch Nuwa's seat, he, as her elder brother, would be the first to refuse.

It seemed Fuxi and Nuwa were also somewhat untouchable.

The two shook their heads again and looked toward Kunpeng nearby.

This one should be no problem.

Against the Three Pure Ones or Nuwa, they lacked the advantage in numbers and naturally had no confidence.

Kunpeng was a lone soul and surely wouldn't be their match.

The two then nodded to each other; he was the one.

But they still had to try being polite before resorting to force, to see if this Kunpeng knew what was good for him.

Clearing his throat, Jieyin spoke: "Fellow Daoist Kunpeng, Fellow Daoist Hong Yun has already yielded his seat. Why don't you also perform a noble deed and let my brother have a turn?"

"I thank you in advance on behalf of the sentient beings of the West."

Kunpeng, who was in the middle of comprehending the mysteries of the Prayer Mat, suddenly opened his eyes. Meeting the gazes of Jieyin and Zhunti, his expression changed drastically.

These two shameless scoundrels were truly pushing their luck. Getting one wasn't enough; they actually dared to set their sights on him.

Kunpeng immediately couldn't bear it and started cursing directly.

"What the hell are you looking at? What do the sentient beings of the West have to do with me?"

"Hong Yun yielding his seat was his own stupidity. With just the two of you weeping and wailing, you think you can make me yield my seat?"

"Look at yourselves—you're nothing but a joke."

This, however, enraged Jieyin and his companion.

Jieyin retorted: "Fellow Daoist, why do you speak like this? We spoke to you kindly; why do you insult us so?"

Zhunti also chimed in from behind: "Calling you Fellow Daoist is out of respect for this being the Saint's Dao field and the fact that we share the fate of hearing the Dao. Don't be ungrateful when given face."

Kunpeng was not afraid at all. "What's wrong with cursing you? I have even harsher words that I haven't pulled out for you to experience yet."

"You..." Seeing Kunpeng so rude, Jieyin and Zhunti also wanted to strike.

At this moment, Yuanshi, whose focus on comprehending the Prayer Mat's mysteries had been disrupted by Kunpeng's crude language, blurted out: "The Saint's lecture is a matter of fate and Law. How can a creature of fur and horns like you sit in the same rank as us!"

As soon as these words were spoken, the entire Zixiao Palace fell silent.

Although they knew Yuanshi was scolding Kunpeng, why did it feel like a blanket insult to everyone else too?

But the Three Pure Ones were a single entity, and no one spoke up to oppose what Yuanshi had said.

"Brother Yuanshi is right. You are but a creature of fur and horns, yet you dare to sit in this rank."

"Get up and leave at once!"

Seeing the opportunity, Jieyin and Zhunti pressed their advantage, repeatedly striking at Kunpeng's weak point with their insults.

Scanning the crowd, Kunpeng saw that not a single person stood on his side. He knew that he could no longer hold this position.

"Good, good, good! Remember this for me."

Throwing out a harsh word, Kunpeng stood up to leave, not forgetting to glare at the culprit who started this dispute, Hong Yun.

As well as the silent crowd.

"You also remember this for me!"

"And all of you!"

After making sure everyone would remember him, Kunpeng dejectedly walked to a corner and sat down.

Seeing their goal achieved, Zhunti didn't waste any more words and sat down directly.

Looking up, a figure had appeared on the Cloud Bed at some unknown time.

The Saint had appeared.
