190: Lost my composure for a moment
We must detour around the Bay of Bengal to finally reach Great Xia. This journey is long and arduous, expected to take a full month. If our supplies are insufficient, it could affect our health.”
Upon hearing this, Xu Ning nodded slightly: “So you have already started preparing the necessary food?”
Xu Ning had been eager to set off quickly, taking his tank fleet away from this sea area, but he hadn't expected that sea voyages required such complex preparations.
Vokoso noticed the doubt on Xu Ning's face and said, “Mr., time is pressing. I only had time to prepare a few days' worth of food. Next, we must dock at a port to replenish supplies, which is why I showed you this list.”
He pointed to the series of ingredients listed on the list and said, “These are what we need to purchase.”
Sweat beaded on Xu Ning's forehead. Thinking of an aircraft carrier docked at a port for resupply, he couldn't help but feel it was risky. He asked anxiously, “Is there no other way?”
Vokoso smiled slightly, as if he had anticipated this: “Of course, there is another option, which is to purchase the necessary supplies from passing merchant ships. Usually, these merchant ships are well-stocked, and the route we plan to take is a busy one, so we won't have trouble finding trading partners.”
After hearing this, the heavy stone in Xu Ning's heart finally fell.
After all, feeding hundreds of people on board is not an easy task. If not for this, he really didn't know how difficult the coming days would be.
As the days passed, Xu Ning gradually adapted to the rhythm of the sea. Although the waves were rough, the massive aircraft carrier made the voyage relatively stable.
Apart from occasionally fishing and playing cards with his companions, most of the time Vokoso was responsible for handling daily affairs.
Until one day, when another ship appeared on the radar screen, everything changed.
Xu Ning immediately instructed to send a friendly signal and attempted to approach the other party.
However, to the cargo ship named “Jenny,” the scene before them was like something out of a science fiction movie – a moving island was slowly approaching.
In the operations room, First Mate Greens looked at the approaching giant figure in astonishment. He half-jokingly asked, “Captain, have you done something treasonous?”
Captain Jack Lowe's eyes widened, equally stunned by the sight before him, unable to speak: “I'd rather ask you, my friend.”
But as an experienced captain, he quickly regained his composure and immediately ordered to stop the propulsion, avoiding a potential collision.
On this vast and boundless sea, the two ships met in such a dramatic manner.
Under the clear blue sky, the sea breeze brushed across Captain Jack Lowe's face. He turned to First Mate Greens and said, “Come on, Greens, we should also go to the deck to welcome this unprecedented encounter. To be honest, I have never seen such a behemoth up close before.”
His eyes sparkled with excitement.
A surge of excitement welled up in Greens' heart. He replied, “After this journey, I'll have a new story to tell my little ones.”
However, a hint of worry flashed in Greens' eyes, “Captain, don't you think they might be hostile towards us?”
Jack Lowe heard this and couldn't help but laugh, “My old friend, what are you worried about? We are just a law-abiding cargo ship. How could they send an aircraft carrier to deal with us?
Stop overthinking. This is not something Somali pirates would do. Do you know? It's full of fighter jets. If they had any ill intentions, we wouldn't be seeing the sun tomorrow.”
Greens wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and nodded, “Yes, I was just scaring myself. It's just that this aircraft carrier is so magnificent, it made me lose my composure for a moment.”
He looked at the moving sea fortress in the distance, secretly envying it, “I really hope that one day, our Star Moon City can also possess such power.”
Jack Lowe patted Greens on the shoulder and said earnestly, “Don't take it too much to heart. National affairs are for the nation to worry about. As ordinary people, let's just do our part diligently.”
The two were silent and continued walking towards the deck. When they faced the majestic giant ship again, the shock in their hearts was even greater.
“It's like a tiny snail suddenly encountering a huge whale, and this whale is slowly approaching.” Jack Lowe sighed with emotion, and Greens also nodded in agreement.
At this moment, a speedboat slowly descended from the aircraft carrier and sailed towards them.
As the distance closed, the figures of Xu Ning, Vokoso, and the Hunter Vulture Squad gradually became visible.
Due to the enormous size of the aircraft carrier and the cargo ship, adjusting their course became extremely difficult.
To avoid the risk of collision, Vokoso decided to stop the aircraft carrier in advance and proposed making contact via a small boat.
With the two crew members rowing vigorously, the speedboat quickly approached the cargo ship. Jack Lowe and Greens immediately stepped forward to greet them.
Although he was curious about the identity of this group, Jack Lowe politely extended his hand, ready to shake hands with the other party.
After all, in his opinion, the white commander among this group of people likely represented the power behind this mysterious aircraft carrier.
On the clear blue sea, the cargo ship Jenny sailed quietly. Captain Jack Lowe stood on the deck, facing an uninvited guest.
He straightened his back and politely greeted, “Hello, I am the captain of this Jenny, Jack Lowe. May I ask what this officer is here for?”
Vokoso did not respond immediately but cleverly stepped aside, allowing a line of sight so that Xu Ning's figure could be revealed.
“You should shake hands with this Mr. instead,” he said, “He is the actual helmsman of this aircraft carrier.”
“Captain?” Jack Lowe's eyes showed surprise, and he looked at the young and kind-faced Asian man before him in disbelief.
In a moment of silence, Xu Ning smiled and extended his hand, saying gently like the warm sun in spring, “To be precise, I am the acting captain. Due to some special circumstances, I have temporarily taken on this responsibility.”
He hinted that his position was not stable.
Jack Lowe caught the implication and couldn't help but feel a bit of disdain in his heart, but he flattered, “Truly young and promising, taking on such a significant responsibility at such a young age.”
Xu Ning smiled humbly, and then got to the point: “We have an urgent matter to ask for help with this trip. I wonder if your ship's food reserves are sufficient?”
When food was mentioned, Jack Lowe glanced at the First Mate beside him in confusion. They exchanged a puzzled look. Then he turned to Xu Ning and asked, “You need to purchase food? What is the purpose of this?”
Xu Ning simply explained that it was due to some special need, without giving too many details.
