51: Unknown fate

The next day, David Weigel, a reporter from the Washington Post from Eagle Country, complained while enjoying breakfast at the hotel: "The food here is terrible, can't they make something decent?"

His companion, Joakim from the New York Times, reminded him: "Lower your voice, David, the pay for this report is three thousand dollars. If you get kicked out, don't expect me to help you."

"Haha, it's fine, I found that they don't understand what I'm saying at all." David said with a smile, "Even if I call them idiots, they will still smile at me."

Although he inwardly looked down on races other than Caucasians, if it weren't for the generous remuneration, he wouldn't have come to this place. Compared to here, he would rather serve in Iraq.

Taking photos of those begging him for mercy. However, due to the CIA and the Washington Post's strong interest in this place and their promise of additional pay, he decided to come.

Joakim, on the other hand, was quite interested in this place, but he knew that his old friend was actually only fond of Eastern women. He had traveled to Japan many times, at least dozens of times.

"Let's go, David, the exhibition should be starting." Joakim cleared the dishes from the table and urged.

"Let's go there early, finish taking photos, and then we can go back early to collect the money."

"Hmph." David threw his fork heavily into the soup bowl and stood up very reluctantly.

"I hope the equipment for this mission is more reliable, otherwise I won't bother picking up the camera." He said as he got up and followed Joakim to the special vehicle arranged by Xu Ning for the foreign reporters.

"Please drive a little faster, thank you." After getting in the car, David said a word of thanks to the driver, knowing that the driver might only understand the last phrase.

As the vehicle started, David found a seat, sat down, and closed his eyes to rest because he hadn't slept well last night.

He quickly fell asleep. In his dream, he seemed to be in a war zone, with the roar of helicopters in his ears, missiles exploding beside him, and even the ground shaking.

Wait... shaking?

Just as he was wondering, the car suddenly shook violently. The strong feeling of weightlessness immediately woke him up. He opened his eyes and saw several old tanks burning outside the car window, and the sound of helicopter propellers in the sky was deafening.

"What happened?" He quickly asked Joakim, who had also just woken up beside him. Seeing the burning tanks outside, Joakim was also shocked.

"Is this a war zone?" he muttered to himself, "I don't want to die, Mom, come save me."

Although David had been to some conflict areas, he had never experienced such a realistic battle scene. Another loud bang came, and he looked out the window.

He saw several missiles rushing towards a Zhi-5 helicopter. The anti-aircraft missile quickly hit the target, and the helicopter exploded in the air and then crashed.

The helicopter fell not far away, and the sparks that flew up illuminated the surroundings. Several small sparks landed on the car window, making popping sounds, which made David tremble with fright. Suddenly, he felt a chill coming from his trouser leg. It turned out he had wet himself out of fear.

The car stopped abruptly, and there was chaos inside. Everyone was terrified, as if they had already foreseen the scene of the car door being opened and terrorists rushing in. Several religious reporters had already started praying.

A dead silence fell over the car. Everyone held their breath, waiting for their unknown fate.

The bus door slowly opened.

An unexpected scene appeared: a young man in a neat Zhongshan suit calmly walked up.

Facing the reporters in the car, he showed a professional smile, and then said in fluent English: "Hello everyone, I am Xu Ning, the head of the 316 Military Factory."

"The exploding tanks and crashing helicopter you just saw from inside the car were a special demonstration I specifically arranged for everyone."

"I believe everyone is familiar with these weapons."

"Yes, those that were quickly destroyed are some of our country's old equipment from the past."

"And what destroyed them is the new generation of weapons we are showcasing today!"

Before he finished speaking, the roar of armed helicopters came from the air again, causing the reporters inside the car to panic.

"Please rest assured, the sound you hear comes from our Longhai Group's latest developed armed helicopter, the 'Zhan Ying BH90'. They are performing an exciting flight demonstration."

"Now, please follow me off the bus, and I will take everyone to see our new weapons one by one."

Having finished speaking, he was the first to get off, leaving behind a bus full of reporters looking at each other.

Perhaps realizing they were safe, a reporter who had regained composure covered his nose with his hand and said, "Oh my god, who wet their pants? Why is there a strange smell?"

"Hmm... I smell it too, it's disgusting."

"How useless, being a military reporter with such little courage..."

All the reporters pinched their noses and walked towards the car door.

David also flushed, covered his nose, and prepared to leave. However, Joakim beside him seemed to have discovered something and was looking at him strangely.

Feeling uncomfortable from being stared at, David said discontentedly, "Why are you looking at me? Hurry up and get off."

"Damn guys, if this were in Japan, they should kneel down and apologize!"

"But this is their territory." Another reporter behind him responded in fluent English, pointing to David's wet trouser leg, "And, it looks like you wet your pants."

"..."

David glared fiercely at the other person and stopped talking.

As he got off the bus, Joakim in front suddenly stopped, causing him to almost bump into him.

"Joakim, what are you doing now?"

He pushed Joakim, but found that Joakim wasn't angry, but was staring blankly and pointing forward.

Following the direction he was pointing, David's eyes and mouth gradually widened, and shock filled his mind.

Ahead was a red carpet that had been laid out, with uniquely designed tanks lined up on both sides, their cannons slightly raised, as if welcoming guests.

At this moment, the Zhan Ying formation just flew back, sweeping across the sky and performing "S" shaped aerial acrobatics.

The strong wind stirred up by the propellers felt oppressive, and at the same time, it pulled everyone's thoughts back to the scene before them.

Out of professional habit, flashbulbs went off one after another. Reporters picked up their cameras to record this moment, which was destined to become an unforgettable scene in their careers.

It should have been a military industry exhibition, but the scene before them was like a grand military parade. The majestic tanks and the advanced armed helicopters soaring in the sky seemed to be displaying the nation's strength. Xu Ning's voice, holding a loudspeaker, came at the right time:

"Currently performing the flight demonstration are the Longhai Group's latest developed BH90 armed helicopters."

"Click, click," the sound of camera shutters was constant.

"And displayed on the road are our latest BH90 tanks."
