197: Benefited a lot
As soon as Xu Ning finished speaking, he strode towards the door. Seeing this, Tang Ziwei hurriedly followed.
"Young man, where are you going?" Tang Ziwei asked, panting.
"Going to find Uncle Chao, he must have clues there," Xu Ning replied, his tone firm.
For this operation, Xu Ning had specifically brought Zhao Zhide as a helper. As the manager of North Sea Industry's Overseas Business Department, Zhao Zhide, with his fluent russian and English, was thriving in the business world.
The group headed straight for Beijing, arriving at Chen Dongchao's new office location.
After getting out of the car, Xu Ning pulled Zhao Zhide aside, whispered a few instructions, then patted his shoulder, signaling him to leave alone. Tang Ziwei saw all of this but said nothing.
As the two walked to the door of Chen Dongchao's office, a deafening roar came from inside.
"No matter who it is, that kid can't get on the plane, absolutely not."
"If I find out who let him through, the name Chen Dongchao won't be for nothing; I'll make him pay, even if I have to chase him to the ends of the earth."
"Get out."
Immediately after, there was the sound of something being thrown, followed by a young man in a clerk's uniform rushing out of the door in a panic. Seeing two people standing outside the door, he was startled for a moment, then recognized Tang Ziwei, but his gaze suddenly froze when it swept over Xu Ning, his face changing drastically.
"Have we met before?" Xu Ning asked curiously.
"No, no, I don't know you." The young man saluted them in a panic, turned around, and hurried away, leaving behind a puzzling figure.
"What's going on?" Tang Ziwei looked at Xu Ning, puzzled.
"Nothing special," Xu Ning replied lightly, then pushed open the door to Chen Dongchao's office.
"Didn't I tell you to get out?" Chen Dongchao glared angrily until he saw that the visitor was Xu Ning, and a look of surprise immediately appeared on his face.
"Why are you here?"
Xu Ning noticed the cigarette between Chen Dongchao's fingers and the lingering gloom on his face, his doubts growing stronger.
What on earth was making Uncle Chao so anxious?
And who was he not letting board the plane?
And who was this kid?
Although his heart was full of questions, Xu Ning suppressed them one by one; now was clearly not the time to get to the bottom of things.
"It's been a long time, and I've missed you very much, so I came to see you."
Chen Dongchao fiercely ground out the cigarette in his hand in the ashtray and glanced at Xu Ning with dissatisfaction. "Nonsense, did you see a ghost in Qingdao a few days ago?" He was clearly displeased.
"It makes me angry just thinking about it. I could have gone home earlier, but I was delayed for more than half a month because of your research," Chen Dongchao said helplessly.
At this moment, Xu Ning gently closed the office door, while Tang Ziwei wisely stayed outside, strolling leisurely in the corridor.
Xu Ning said with a playful smile, "Didn't you also admit that my class benefited you greatly?"
Chen Dongchao replied grumpily, "Kid, tell me, what is it? Didn't I ask Tang Ziwei to take you to Jiuquan? Why did you come to find me?"
Xu Ning replied, "I wanted to go too, but when I heard about Mr. General Manager Zhang Jianxia's matter..." His voice lowered.
Hearing this, Chen Dongchao's hand paused, "You know about his matter?"
"Somewhat. Was it Gu Cheng who did this good deed?" Although his memory of Gu Cheng was vague, the information he got from Tang Ziwei gave him the intuition that Gu Cheng was behind this.
Chen Dongchao was silent for a while, then said, "From the intelligence received, the possibility is very high."
"Let's not worry about that for now." Clearly, Chen Dongchao was unwilling to continue discussing this matter that had already happened. "The matter about the Eagle Country agent you dealt with over in Bear's territory has been handled."
Just then, the phone rang, interrupting their conversation, and Chen Dongchao quickly picked it up.
"Hello, this is Chen Dongchao, what is it?"
As the other party spoke, Chen Dongchao's eyes widened, looking at Xu Ning in disbelief, and then he asked into the phone, "Are you telling the truth?"
"Okay, I understand, I'll come over now."
After hanging up the phone, Chen Dongchao took a deep breath, his eyes full of surprise, looking at Xu Ning. "I just received some shocking news," he said. "A Tu-160 Bomber is flying towards us requesting asylum, and the pilot specifically asked to see you."
Xu Ning was so surprised his mouth couldn't close.
"What? Someone is flying a tu-160 here and specifically asked to see me? What's going on?" A series of questions popped up in Xu Ning's mind as he followed Chen Dongchao, feeling puzzled.
In his memory, Xu Ning had once glimpsed the secret base hidden in a remote corner, housing the tu-160 strategic bombers.
However, at that time, he had no chance to get close to those behemoths, let alone have any contact with the pilots. These memories lingered in his heart like a fog, bringing with them various puzzles.
Xu Ning, full of doubts, followed Chen Dongchao into an office at the airport.
Inside the room, a pilot was nervously holding a paper cup of water, his eyes revealing unconcealable panic.
At this instant, Xu Ning's mind suddenly became clear; this stranger in front of him was definitely not the face that had appeared in his memory.
This discovery not only did not solve the mystery but deepened the questions in his heart.
Chen Dongchao cast an inquiring look at the interrogator in the room: "Any progress?"
The answer he received was a negative shake of the head. "He won't speak unless he sees Xu Ning himself," the interrogator said helplessly.
"Me?" Xu Ning pointed to his nose in surprise, his gaze immediately turning to the pilot with the complex expression.
Realizing that the other party might not understand chinese, he switched to russian and tentatively asked, "I am Xu Ning, what do you need me for?"
The pilot responded cautiously, "How do you prove your identity?"
Faced with such questioning, Xu Ning couldn't help but laugh out loud, "I am Xu Ning, what more proof do you need?"
After some back and forth, it was finally learned that the other party's name was Garcia.
When asked if he knew Captain Golovdev, Xu Ning's expression became serious: "Of course I remember, we drank together."
Hearing this, Garcia seemed to relax a little and slowly began to tell the story behind it: The high-level decision-makers, in exchange for the support of a certain major power, actually decided to sacrifice the country's valuable assets, all the Tu-160 Bombers.
Upon learning the news, Golovdev was heartbroken, even staying by the plane all night crying. In despair, he gathered a few loyal subordinates and acted separately to try to save some of the precious assets.
Unfortunately, not everyone managed to escape the pursuit successfully.
Xu Ning learned that Garcia was one of the members sent to seek help. Although the journey was difficult, he fortunately arrived at his destination.
