211: A partial understanding

Huang Hongzhang was overjoyed when he heard this.

He had originally worried that his plan wasn't direct enough, but he didn't expect Professor Liu Yuanbo to act so quickly and clarify the matter.

Huang Hongzhang guessed that Professor Liu must have severely criticized Xu Ning.

He couldn't help but laugh out loud, quickly turning his back to his roommates, afraid of being discovered in his triumph.

At this moment, Xu Ning noticed his roommates' misunderstanding, but then the dormitory door was knocked on again.

Liang Hao quickly tidied up the scattered playing cards, got up, and opened the door.

Standing outside the door was Yan Lu.

"Professor Liu Yuanbo is looking for Huang Hongzhang, is he here?" Yan Lu asked from the doorway.

"I am!" Huang Hongzhang practically leaped off his bed, "I'll change clothes and be right there!"

He thought that after Professor Liu learned about Xu Ning's situation, he was preparing to discuss the postgraduate recommendation with him.

When Yan Lu mentioned that she had retrieved her bicycle key, Huang Hongzhang was even more eager to express his willingness to ride over.

Before leaving, he even gave Xu Ning a provocative look, which left Xu Ning feeling utterly confused.

After handing the key to Huang Hongzhang, Yan Lu didn't leave immediately.

"Hey, Xu Ning, what exactly did Academician Du say to you this afternoon?" she suddenly asked.

At this question, the dormitory instantly became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Liang Hao's playing cards slipped from his hand and fell to the ground, but he didn't move, seemingly also drawn in by this sudden question.

"Academician Du?" Liu Ran, who was looking down and flipping through a magazine, raised his head in surprise.

Liu Ran was a member of the group and naturally knew what Huang Hongzhang had done that morning.

Although he hadn't directly intervened, he hadn't stopped him either.

Liu Ran came from an ordinary family and planned to work directly after graduation.

Following Huang Hongzhang was mainly to easily get good grades, so he would be more competitive when applying for jobs in the future.

Therefore, he had originally felt quite calm.

However, Yan Lu's single sentence shattered this calmness.

"That's right, Academician Du called to find Xu Ning this afternoon, and Professor Liu subsequently contacted Huang Hongzhang.

Your dorm is really something else."

Yan Lu was just the messenger and could only guess at the true intentions of the two Professors.

"Academician Du invited me to join his team to complete my graduation thesis," Xu Ning explained.

Although the matter of pursuing a doctorate hadn't been formally settled, those in the know understood what this meant: it wasn't that Professor Liu had given up on Xu Ning, but that Academician Du had gotten there first.

"Wow, Xu Ning, you're going to soar!" Liang Hao couldn't help but exclaim, his tone tinged with envy.

Being able to become a member of an Academician's team was itself an extremely glorious thing.

This time, Xu Ning had been personally invited by the Academician, a treatment that greatly surprised everyone around him.

Liu Ran lay on the upper bunk, recalling Huang Hongzhang's behavior that morning, and couldn't help but sigh and shake his head.

Clearly, their group leader's efforts were not only in vain but might have even helped someone else.

If Huang Hongzhang hadn't caused such a fuss, Professor Liu might not have specifically gone to find Academician Du.

"Hey, now you have to treat us to a meal!" The dormitory instantly became lively, and everyone started cheering.

There was an unwritten rule among the big group members that whenever someone encountered good news, such as finding a partner, winning an award, or getting recommended for postgraduate study, they had to treat their roommates to a meal to celebrate.

What they ate wasn't important; the key was the gesture.

"Don't worry, you won't be forgotten," Xu Ning waved his hand from the bed, his voice tinged with fatigue, "But I really want to rest for a while now."

On the other side, Huang Hongzhang's mood was very bad.

He had originally expected Advisor Liu Yuanbo to talk to him directly about postgraduate matters, but he didn't expect to be asked a series of questions about research and development as soon as he entered the office, and these questions seemed a bit strange.

For example, why develop a seaplane?

What was the initial inspiration?

What difficulties were encountered, and how were they overcome?

These questions seemed to have little to do with the actual research and development.

Fortunately, he was quite familiar with the development manual, so he was able to barely cope.

After about half an hour of awkward questions and answers, Liu Yuanbo finally let him leave.

After leaving the teaching building, Huang Hongzhang muttered to himself as he got on his bicycle: "Did this guy really not even look at our R&D plan?"

Because in the conversation just now, many questions had already been explained in detail in the R&D report, and he had to repeat the answers again.

Huang Hongzhang quickly found a reason that convinced himself: "Maybe he doesn't understand R&D at all, that's why he asked me for help."

In fact, Huang Hongzhang had always looked down on the advisors at Beijing Aviation University.

In his eyes, they only had a superficial understanding of aircraft research and development, so how could they teach the group members well?

He was only here to gain a better starting point for future overseas studies.

"Forget it, don't think about it," Huang Hongzhang quickly dismissed this thought.

After all, the threats from Xu Ning and Old Wei had been removed, and the department's postgraduate recommendation spot would definitely be his.

More than ten minutes later, when he returned Yan Lu's bicycle and came back to the dormitory, Liu Ran mysteriously pulled him to a corner of the corridor, "Brother Zhang, about Xu Ning..."

"Professor Du Yishan?" Huang Hongzhang frowned deeply, his eyes full of confusion.

He didn't understand; anyone with a discerning eye could see that the fighter jet R&D plan was definitely not from them, so why didn't Liu Yuanbo and Professor Du Yishan notice?

Clenching his fist, Huang Hongzhang punched the wall.

"Brother Zhang?" Liu Ran saw his friend lose control like this, and a hint of disappointment flashed in his eyes.

Compared to Xu Ning, who remained calm even when facing Academician Du's invitation, Huang Hongzhang's current performance seemed too agitated.

Originally, Liu Ran wanted to tell Huang Hongzhang that Xu Ning's group's R&D was solid, and there shouldn't be a rift between friends living in the same room because of this.

Unfortunately, Huang Hongzhang's mind was completely elsewhere.

Huang Hongzhang shook his head and muttered in a low voice: "These so-called scholars only know how to save face.

They clearly plagiarized something, but they pretend and don't even understand a seaplane R&D drawing."

Despite his dissatisfaction, he still planned to pursue postgraduate studies at Beijing Aviation University, so he could only complain a few words to the air, then left Liu Ran behind and returned to the dormitory alone with a depressed look.

Seeing this, Liu Ran sighed and shook his head helplessly.

At nine o'clock the next morning.

Professor Du Yishan was sitting in his office, with one hand propping his chin and the other holding a red pen.

In front of him was the draft of the thesis that Xu Ning had just submitted.

Although the content was generally the same as the previous R&D explanation, it was not easy to organize it into a standard thesis format within a short afternoon, let alone rewrite it.

Professor Du Yishan had originally thought that, as an undergraduate, Xu Ning might be a bit rusty in writing skills and would require a lot of corrections from him.

But that was not the case.
