64: Chapter 64: Battles Rise in the East China Sea, the Invisible Battlefield

Jiang Ning stood before the sand table, tracing her finger through the air.

Following her movement, countless golden lines instantly connected the 108 points on the sand table, forming a complex array diagram.

This was the prototype of the "Spirit-Drawing Array."

"Chief Engineer Wang, did you see that clearly?" Jiang Ning asked.

Chief Engineer Wang Jianguo and his team of young engineers were wearing special AR glasses, staring intently at the sand table.

In their eyes, those golden lines had turned into strings of incomprehensible models and data.

"I... I saw it clearly." Chief Engineer Wang took off his glasses and rubbed his swollen eyes, his tone filled with both shock and confusion. "Engineer Jiang, I still don't understand. There are no physical connections between these points, no fiber optic cables, no pipes. How exactly do they transmit energy and information?"

This question had been tormenting him for several days.

His team of PhDs and Masters students had nearly worn out the blueprints Jiang Ning provided, yet they still couldn't find any explanation within known physics.

This was too metaphysical.

Yet, they had seen the miracles created by this "metaphysics" with their own eyes during the desert project.

"You don't need to understand," Jiang Ning's reply was characteristically simple and direct. "You just need to follow the blueprints and ensure the precision of each point is flawless."

She paused, and seeing the confusion still on his face, added, "Think of 'spiritual energy' as a special kind of wave. These array points are 'antennas' that connect through resonance, not wires."

"Resonance..." Chief Engineer Wang muttered the word, still not quite understanding, but at least he had a direction to ponder.

"Alright, the construction plan for the first phase must be finished by the end of the day." Jiang Ning gave the order. "Tomorrow morning, all 108 points must begin construction simultaneously."

"Yes!" Chief Engineer Wang immediately straightened his back and responded loudly. He now had one hundred percent compliance with Jiang Ning's orders.

He turned and roared at his team: "Did you all hear that! Engineer Jiang's orders! Nobody is sleeping tonight! Even if you have to pull an all-nighter, get that plan done for me!"

The entire command center instantly began operating at high speed.

Meanwhile, the Kunlun Engineering Team led by Dongfang Shuo also began their work.

They worked in pairs, scattered throughout the city, guarding the marked array points.

Dongfang Shuo and his Junior Disciple were responsible for the point at the People's Park in the city center.

People were coming and going, making security extremely difficult.

The array point was on the large lawn in the center of the park, already cordoned off by the construction team with tall fencing, with signs hanging outside reading "Municipal Landscaping Upgrade and Renovation."

Dongfang Shuo and his Junior Disciple were wearing security uniforms, patrolling back and forth outside the fence.

"Senior Brother, I still feel a bit awkward." The Junior Disciple whispered as they walked. "Since when have disciples of the Kunlun Mountains done this kind of work? We're being watched like performing monkeys."

The elderly people in the park were indeed full of curiosity about these two handsome security guards, pointing and whispering.

"If your heart is not still, how can you seek the Dao?" Dongfang Shuo looked straight ahead, his voice steady. "The Immortal Master let us be here, so naturally, she has her reasons. Do you think this is just guarding a door? Calm your heart and feel it."

Upon hearing this, the Junior Disciple closed his eyes, calmed his mind, and began circulating his internal cultivation method.

A few minutes later, he opened his eyes abruptly, full of astonishment.

"Senior Brother! Here... the energy here is more active than in other places!"

He could feel something indescribable in the air being slowly drawn toward the ground beneath their feet. Although weak, those of them who practiced Qi could clearly distinguish it.

"Felt it?" Dongfang Shuo's lips curled upward. "This is just the beginning. The Immortal Master has laid out a grand array, and we are guarding the foundation points. This place will become the most concentrated location for spiritual energy in all of Donghai City. Being able to cultivate here is a tremendous blessing. Do you still think this is just guarding a door?"

The Junior Disciple's face turned red instantly, and he lowered his head in shame. "I was too foolish. Thank you for your guidance, Senior Brother."

The awkwardness in his heart vanished instantly. He immediately straightened his back and scanned his surroundings with sharp eyes, making anyone who approached the fence feel a chill in their hearts.

Similar scenes were playing out at every array point in the city.

These geniuses from Kunlun, under Dongfang Shuo's "ideological work" and personal experience, quickly completed the shift in mindset from "ancient martial arts disciples" to "Dharma-protecting security guards."

Each of them treated this job as a test and a reward, working more diligently than anyone else.

Night fell.

Chameleon, who had disguised himself as an "environmental expert," parked a rented car on a small road near the People's Park.

He observed the fenced-off construction site in the park through binoculars.

"Chameleon, how is it on your end?" He asked into his headset.

"Boss, I checked the other three points. They are all the same, surrounded by fencing, with security patrolling outside. These security guards... are a bit strange." Chameleon's voice came through the headset.

"How are they strange?"

"They stand too straight, and their gazes are too sharp; they don't look like ordinary security guards. Their patrol routes and frequency are completely up to military anti-reconnaissance standards. I tried to get close twice, but they forced me back just by looking at me." Chameleon's tone was very grave. "I feel that if I get any closer, they won't hesitate to take action."

Snake Eye frowned.

Military standards? That wasn't surprising; the Xia Kingdom liked to use retired soldiers as security.

But being able to force back the experienced Chameleon just by their gaze was something ordinary retired soldiers couldn't do.

He focused the lens of his binoculars on Dongfang Shuo, who was patrolling outside the fence.

Through the thermal imaging mode, he saw that the heat distribution in Dongfang Shuo's body was far more uniform and powerful than an ordinary person's, and his blood flow was faster. This represented extremely strong physical fitness and explosive power.

"The target is not an ordinary person." Snake Eye made his judgment. "Physical fitness is at least at the Olympic champion level. And they have received special combat training."

"Boss, what should we do? Should we find a chance to knock one out and bring him back to study?" The eager voice of Rhino came through the headset.

"No, don't act rashly." Snake Eye immediately vetoed. "The opponent's security level exceeds our expectations. Any active attack before we figure out their background is foolish."

He lowered his binoculars and leaned back in his seat, his brain racing.

These mysterious "super security guards" were guarding these mysterious "exploration points."

There must be a connection between the two.

"Witch, invade the urban surveillance system of Donghai City. I want the 24-hour surveillance footage around all these exploration points. I want to analyze the shift patterns and behavioral patterns of these security guards to find their vulnerabilities."

"Boss, the Xia Kingdom's Skynet system has a strong anti-intrusion mechanism. Forcing an entry will lead to being tracked."

"Then use our latest 'Leech' program. Only read, don't write, and quietly absorb the data."

"Understood. It will take some time."

Snake Eye looked at the fence illuminated by lights in the distance, his gaze deep.

He had a premonition that something he wanted was definitely hidden inside that fence.

What he needed now was patience.
