65: Chapter 65: Masters Clash, Victory Decided in a Second
Two days later, the "Ghost" team's plan entered its second phase.
Relying on the surveillance data stolen by "Witch," they had figured out most of the situation regarding Dongfang Shuo's "security team."
"Boss, this is very strange." In the hotel room, "Witch" pointed at the screen and said to "Snake Eye," "This group of security guards, twenty-two people in total, are split into pairs, covering eleven spots. They don't rotate shifts; they are there twenty-four hours a day. They don't eat, don't drink, and don't even go to the bathroom."
"No eating, no drinking, no sleeping?" The "Doctor" in the team shook his head upon hearing this. "Impossible, humans aren't machines. Unless they are robots."
"Thermal imaging shows they are living people." "Chameleon" chimed in. "And I discovered that during their patrol breaks, they sit perfectly still for about ten minutes each time. During those moments, their heart rates and breathing are extremely slow, but the electrical activity on the surface of their bodies is very strong."
"Snake Eye" stared at the thermal imaging of Dongfang Shuo and his group "meditating," remaining silent.
This state was somewhat like monks meditating. But the data showed that when they sat like this, their bodies seemed to be recharging, recovering extremely quickly.
"A high-efficiency physical recovery technique we aren't aware of." "Snake Eye" concluded. "The Xia people might have come up with something new in biotechnology."
This discovery made him even more interested.
"They are guarding very tightly, with no loopholes." "Witch" continued. "The patrol routes look fixed, but they change slightly every hour. They pass through any corner not captured by surveillance at least twice every five minutes. Sneaking in without being discovered is simply impossible."
"If there are no loopholes, then we'll create one for them." "Snake Eye's" eyes were filled with a cold aura.
He turned to "Chameleon": "It's your turn. Go and have a run-in with them. You don't need to succeed; I just need you to get close enough so that the micro-sensors on your body can record their physical data and fighting style."
"For real?" "Chameleon" smiled with a somewhat frightening expression; his specialties were disguise and close-quarters combat.
"Remember, you are going there to record, not to kill. Once you get it, withdraw immediately." "Snake Eye" reminded him.
"Got it."
That afternoon, People's Park.
A young man wearing a food delivery uniform, riding an electric scooter, rushed hurriedly toward the construction site hoarding in the park.
As if trying to take a shortcut, he was riding very fast.
Dongfang Shuo and Junior Disciple, who were on patrol, spotted him.
"Stop! You aren't allowed to pass here!" Junior Disciple stepped forward and reached out to block him.
"Sorry, sorry, I'm in a rush to deliver food, and the navigation brought me here." The "delivery guy" was sweating profusely from anxiety, apologizing incessantly.
This "delivery guy" was "Chameleon" in disguise.
He was acting too convincingly; his expression, tone, and that cheap delivery uniform soaked in sweat were no different from a real delivery worker.
Just as Junior Disciple was about to tell him to take a detour, Dongfang Shuo, standing beside him, suddenly furrowed his brows.
He felt something off about this "delivery guy."
It wasn't the smell, nor his appearance, but a kind of... "Qi."
To those who practiced martial arts like them, the "Qi" of an ordinary person was scattered. But this person in front of him—his "Qi" was restrained, yet hidden underneath was a beast-like aggression.
This guy was very dangerous.
"Where are you delivering this food to?" Dongfang Shuo asked calmly.
"Oh, delivering... to that residential compound next door." "Chameleon" casually rattled off an address.
"Is that so?" Dongfang Shuo's gaze suddenly became sharp. "But your scooter came from the direction of that residential compound."
"Chameleon's" heart skipped a beat.
He didn't expect the opponent to have such sharp eyes. To speed up his approach earlier, he had indeed detoured from that direction.
This one small flaw was enough to make the opponent suspicious.
He realized he couldn't wait any longer.
The moment Dongfang Shuo finished speaking, "Chameleon" moved.
He sprang off the electric scooter, his whole body tensed as he launched himself at Dongfang Shuo. A dagger had appeared in his hand at some unknown moment, a cold glint flashing as it headed straight for Dongfang Shuo's throat.
This strike was terrifyingly fast; ordinary people's eyes couldn't even keep up.
That Junior Disciple only had time to let out an "Ah."
But he had run into Dongfang Shuo.
At the same time "Chameleon" moved, Dongfang Shuo also moved. Instead of retreating, he advanced, turning his body to the side at an odd angle to dodge that lethal blade.
Simultaneously, he reached out his palm, grabbing for "Chameleon's" wrist that held the knife.
"Chameleon" was startled. This move of his integrated several fighting styles and was both fast and tricky; it had never failed before. How could the opponent dodge it so easily?
He twisted his wrist, the dagger slashing back toward Dongfang Shuo's palm.
But Dongfang Shuo's palm drew a small circle in the air, a soft yet sticky force wrapping around his wrist.
This was Taiji's "Coiling Silk Force."
"Chameleon" only felt his wrist sink into something, and all his strength and speed became unusable. The dagger in his hand was also deflected by a clever force, unable to reach Dongfang Shuo at all.
Not good! A master!
"Chameleon's" brain set off alarm bells. He immediately let go of the dagger, throwing a punch with his other hand at Dongfang Shuo's face, intending to use the force to retreat.
Dongfang Shuo huffed, and the hand gripping his wrist gave a sudden shake.
The inch power of "Rushing Thunder Fist" exploded!
"Chameleon" only felt a jolt of electricity rush from his wrist through his entire body; his body went numb, and the punch he threw went limp. He couldn't stand steady, staggering back several steps.
The sensors on his body had already finished recording the data.
Mission accomplished!
"Chameleon" didn't want to stay a moment longer. Using the momentum of his retreat, he rolled into the nearby bushes, disappearing after a few flickers of movement. He ran extremely fast, vanishing in the blink of an eye.
That Junior Disciple stared, dumbfounded, only recovering after a long while: "Senior Brother, he... he ran away! Should we chase him?"
"No need." Dongfang Shuo watched the direction where "Chameleon" had disappeared, his expression very serious.
He picked up the strangely shaped dagger from the ground; the steel was excellent, military-grade.
The exchange had only lasted a few seconds, but he could already tell that the opponent was a well-trained top-tier assassin. His speed, strength, and reflexes were all stronger than any opponent he had encountered before.
But what made him feel most unnerved was that there wasn't a shred of "Internal Breath" in the opponent's moves; it was purely physical strength and technique.
Yet, it was precisely this pure technique that had such terrifying lethality.
"This person came for us." Dongfang Shuo's voice was deep. "Report this immediately! An enemy has snuck over here!"
