138: Jiang Chen's perfect image

As soon as Xiao Jiayuan ran to the roadside, she saw the motorcade approaching from a distance.

The first thing that caught her eye was a sleek black Maybach Pullman, its body gleaming coldly in the evening afterglow.

Three solemn black extended range rovers followed closely behind, forming a compact and imposing motorcade, slowly parking on the roadside in front of Xiao Jiayuan, outside the coffee shop.

In the outdoor seating area of the coffee shop, the three fashionable women, who had originally been chatting and discussing, were now all stunned.

“Oh my god… this display…” Su Xiao, the girl in the white dress, instinctively covered her mouth, her eyes wide with shock as she said, “This must be a motorcade worth tens of millions, right? What exactly is Jiayuan’s boyfriend’s background?”

Lin Wei, with her chestnut curly hair, tightly clutched the coffee cup in her hand, her fingertips slightly white.

She thought with mixed emotions: This aura… it feels like the kind of display only business tycoons in TV dramas have, even more impressive than my dad… I used to think that what Xiao Jiayuan said about her perfect boyfriend might have been a bit of a ‘love filter,’ after all, we’d only known each other for a month and didn’t know each other very well. Now I realize she wasn’t exaggerating at all; my horizons were just too narrow.

Zhao Man, the one on the far right wearing sunglasses, unconsciously straightened up a bit.

She had originally planned to secretly compare herself once Xiao Jiayuan’s boyfriend arrived, but now she only felt an invisible pressure washing over her.

“I didn’t believe Jiayuan when she said her boyfriend was so busy he barely touched the ground, but now it seems… his status and position are indeed beyond our imagination.”

The three women’s gazes were fixed on the Maybach, and they unconsciously softened their breathing.

They could feel that passing pedestrians were also attracted by the display, stopping to watch and whispering.

Just then, the rear door of the Maybach was respectfully opened by Li Zha, and a foot clad in a custom black leather shoe stepped out first, followed by Jiang Chen’s figure slowly appearing before everyone’s eyes.

“Husband~”

As soon as Jiang Chen got out of the car, a fragrant breeze swept towards him, accompanied by a soft embrace; it was Xiao Jiayuan, unable to suppress her longing for Jiang Chen during this time, throwing herself into his arms.

“I missed you so much—”

Xiao Jiayuan hugged Jiang Chen tightly, burying her small face deep into his chest, greedily inhaling the familiar and comforting scent on him—a scent that captivated her more than any expensive perfume.

It was as if she wanted to release all the waiting and longing of the past month through this one embrace.

At this moment, with the real touch and warmth in her arms, Xiao Jiayuan felt that all the longing and waiting had been worth it.

Jiang Chen smiled, wrapping his arm around her waist, and with his other hand on her back, he gently patted her, his voice laced with amusement and a hint of helplessness: “There are a lot of people here.”

No sooner had Jiang Chen’s words fallen than he felt Xiao Jiayuan in his arms stiffen slightly, then, as if just realizing, she raised her head from his embrace, a little embarrassed, her small face flushed, but her eyes sparkling.

Only then did she notice that pedestrians on the roadside were all watching them, and not far away, in the outdoor seating area of her coffee shop, her three friends were also looking straight at them.

“Oh dear…”

Xiao Jiayuan stuck out her tongue, realizing only then that she still had three friends waiting in the shop.

She took Jiang Chen’s hand and said, a little embarrassed, “Husband, I almost forgot, I have a few friends waiting for me.”

She looked up, her small face sparkling, “Since you’re here, let’s go over and say hello, and you can also get to know my new friends.”

Jiang Chen, of course, had no objections; it was a good thing for Xiao Jiayuan to make new friends, and this coffee shop was opened precisely so she wouldn’t be bored.

He said with a smile, “No problem, let’s go in then.”

“Mhm, mhm.” Xiao Jiayuan nodded her small face lightly, then pulled Jiang Chen towards the coffee shop.

Jiang Chen followed her lead.

Walking into the outdoor seating area of the coffee shop, Jiang Chen immediately saw three women with different temperaments, who were also curiously looking their way.

Xiao Jiayuan, holding Jiang Chen’s hand, walked to the table and, with a generous yet undeniable sense of pride, said to the three of them, “Let me introduce you, this is my boyfriend, Jiang Chen, whom I’ve told you about.”

“Hello everyone, I’m Jiang Chen.”

He walked to the table and took the initiative to greet them, a gentle and appropriate smile on his face, his voice clear and pleasant, with just the right amount of politeness.

Jiang Chen was tall and well-built, with deep-set features, dressed in a well-tailored dark custom suit that accentuated his distinguished demeanor; every gesture exuded a calm and reserved aura.

Lin Wei, Su Xiao, and Zhao Man were instantly captivated.

They had seen handsome men before, but the aura about Jiang Chen was completely different from anyone they usually encountered.

It was the kind of composure only those in high positions possess, yet without any sense of oppression, instead making people feel very comfortable.

More importantly, he was even… more handsome than Xiao Jiayuan had described.

“H-hello! We are Jiayuan’s friends!” Su Xiao was the first to recover, responding a little stammeringly, her cheeks involuntarily flushing.

Jiang Chen discreetly sized her up.

This girl named Su Xiao was wearing an exquisitely tailored white dress, with light makeup, and her demeanor carried a hint of the shyness and reserve of a well-bred young lady.

Although her jewelry wasn't extensive, it was clearly high-quality, branded pieces.

Her family background should be good, and she seemed like a pure and kind girl.

Lin Wei also quickly composed herself.

She stood up, extended her hand, and offered a professional smile: “Mr. Jiang, hello, I’m Lin Wei, it’s a pleasure to meet you. Jiayuan hasn’t stopped praising you in front of us lately.”

Jiang Chen reached out and briefly clasped her hand, the temperature of his fingertips just right, and his grip appropriate.

His gaze lingered briefly on Lin Wei.

Her chestnut curly hair was meticulously styled, and her suit was a new-season Chanel; her words and actions were capable and proper, carrying a hint of a shrewd career woman.

Clearly, she also came from a privileged background and had seen a bit of the world.

Zhao Man, however, waved her hand casually, her eyes scanning Jiang Chen up and down as if verifying something: “Why are you calling him Mr. Jiang, so formal? We’re good sisters with Jiayuan, and you’re Jiayuan’s boyfriend, so I’ll just call you Jiang Chen. I’m Zhao Man. I’ve heard Jiayuan rave about you endlessly, and today I finally get to see the real person.”

Although her words were direct, there was no malice in her tone, but rather a frank closeness.

Jiang Chen smiled, not minding her scrutiny, and instead played along with her words: “Oh? What has Jiayuan told you about me? Hopefully, it wasn’t all bad things?”

His gaze at Zhao Man held a hint of playfulness.

She wore stylish sunglasses, and her trendy brand clothing was perfectly coordinated; her whole demeanor exuded an untamed aura.

She was probably the type of tomboy with a privileged background and a straightforward personality.

“Not at all!” Xiao Jiayuan immediately interjected, tightening her grip on Jiang Chen’s arm, her small face tilted up, looking utterly proud.

“I told them my husband is the best husband in the world! He’s handsome, gentle, and he dotes on me especially!”

Watching Xiao Jiayuan’s “my husband is the best” expression, the smile in Jiang Chen’s eyes deepened.

These three new friends of Xiao Jiayuan, though each with different personalities, Jiang Chen could tell now that their natures were not bad, and their family backgrounds seemed quite good.

It was also good that they got along with Xiao Jiayuan.

And as Lin Wei and the other two watched this scene, the last bit of their suspicion about “whether Xiao Jiayuan’s love filter was too thick” completely vanished.

The Jiang Chen before them, whether in appearance, temperament, or his manner of dealing with people, perfectly matched the image of the divine boyfriend Xiao Jiayuan had described.

In fact… he was even better than described.

Zhao Man quietly nudged Lin Wei with her elbow, lowering her voice and saying, “I take back what I said before; how is Jiayuan love-struck? She’s clearly found a treasure! They’ve only known each other for a month, and she really kept it under wraps, didn’t spill a single word!”

Lin Wei nodded in deep agreement, her eyes filled with sincere blessings as she looked at Jiang Chen and Xiao Jiayuan.

Su Xiao, meanwhile, propped her chin on her hand, looking at them with an envious expression, secretly thinking: So, there really is such perfect love. I wish I had a boyfriend like that.
