58: The Illuminati? (End of Volume 1)

Just as He Xianjie was about to handcuff Bo Yiqun and take him away, Bo Yiqun suddenly shouted, "Wait a moment!"

Everyone was confused by him.

Only He Xianjie sneered; he was already eager to take back this huge merit, which would earn him a promotion and a raise, for interrogation.

Wait for what?

It's not up to you, He Xianjie continued to take out the handcuffs.

Bo Yiqun stared intently at Jiang Chen and shouted, "I want to say a few words to Chairman Jiang."

"Wait a moment, Inspector He."

Jiang Chen stopped He Xianjie, who was about to control Bo Yiqun. He wanted to see what else Bo Yiqun could be hiding.

He Xianjie stopped his movements when he heard Jiang Chen's words, and could only put away the handcuffs and stare at Bo Yiqun.

Jiang Chen also stared at him in the same way.

Bo Yiqun looked around and laughed out loud, completely losing his previous deathly pale expression. He seemed to have come to terms with something.

He spoke, "Chairman Jiang? Jiang Chen?"

"I don't know how you managed to acquire 85% of Cathay Pacific Airways' shares."

"Based on my understanding, this is impossible."

Jiang Chen had already lit a cigarette. He exhaled a puff and said indifferently, "Nothing is impossible. Many things in this world are beyond your comprehension."

Bo Yiqun was stunned, then burst into laughter, "Right, right, right, there are many things in this world that I cannot comprehend."

After laughing, Bo Yiqun said no more. He actually picked up a pen from the table, signed his name, and affixed his thumbprint to the one-yuan share transfer agreement.

Once everything was done, Bo Yiqun calmly extended his hands, and He Xianjie immediately handcuffed him.

Just as Bo Yiqun was about to be led away, with his handcuffed hands, he smiled and made an All-Seeing Eye gesture to everyone.

Then he opened his mouth and said, "No matter what power stands behind you."

Bo Yiqun said, word by word, with a smile on his face:

"They will all come for you."

Then Bo Yiqun was led away without looking back.

Xie Yifa was also taken away because he was the one who provided the evidence and needed to return with them.

Before Xie Yifa left, he didn't forget to say to Jiang Chen, "Chairman Jiang, you must remember what you promised me. Don't forget you said you wouldn't pursue my responsibility."

Jiang Chen did not pursue his embezzlement of company funds, but he was prosecuted for: secretly filming and disseminating works. However, due to his meritorious whistleblowing, the judge only sentenced him to five years in prison.

Of course, that's a story for later, so let's not dwell on it for now.

——

Our attention returns to the protagonist.

Jiang Chen's hand, holding the cigarette, stopped moving as he listened to Bo Yiqun's last two sentences and observed the final gesture he made.

He was all too familiar with it; wasn't that the All-Seeing Eye gesture, representing the Illuminati, widely spread in conspiracy theories online?

Combining his earlier inexplicable words, and then his inexplicable signing of the share transfer agreement without saying anything… could the Illuminati really exist?

Jiang Chen thought to himself.

Ji Jun noticed Jiang Chen deep in thought. Bo Yiqun's words and that gesture had also caught his attention.

Because he had seen that gesture before.

He came to Jiang Chen's side and whispered, "Chairman Jiang? Chairman Jiang?"

"Hmm?"

Jiang Chen's thoughts were interrupted, and he came back to his senses. He looked at Ji Jun and asked, "What's wrong, President Ji?"

Ji Jun hesitated for a moment and asked, "Chairman Jiang, you're thinking about Bo Yiqun's last words and that gesture, right?"

Jiang Chen nodded, indicating yes.

Please, how could he not know the Illuminati's signature gesture, a conspiracy theory that was already so widespread online?

Jiang Chen continued to look at Ji Jun, waiting to see what he would say.

Ji Jun understood in his heart, thinking, Chairman Jiang indeed knows. Then he cautiously asked, "Then do you know about the Illuminati?"

Jiang Chen saw that Ji Jun clearly knew something, so he feigned profundity: "I know, but not much. President Ji, do you know a lot?"

Ji Jun shook his head, indicating, "I don't know much either..."

Then, with a serious expression, he continued to say to Jiang Chen, "But I think... we might have been targeted by the Illuminati."

Jiang Chen was shocked and felt a tingling sensation on his scalp.

No? The Illuminati really exists?

Of course, Jiang Chen wasn't scared; it was just an indescribable feeling he had when Ji Jun personally admitted that the Illuminati, which he originally thought was just made up by netizens, actually existed.

It was like... like, a feeling of understanding a bit of the world's truth?

Truth?

However, when Jiang Chen called out the system and looked at the panel that only he could see, this feeling had already diminished considerably.

His world already had an unscientific power like the system, so it was normal for a secret society like the Illuminati to exist, right?

And with the system, would he fear the Illuminati?

Jiang Chen expressed, "Give me some time. If the system opens up some military industrial enterprises, or if the system directly rewards him with private armed forces, I'll have someone launch a missile and blow them to smithereens."

His thoughts drifted back, and Jiang Chen calmly asked, "President Ji, how did you learn about the Illuminati?"

Ji Jun thought for a moment and said, "Chairman Jiang, I don't know how you acquired these 85% shares, but combining what Bo Yiqun just said, you must have a force behind you as well."

Ji Jun stated his analysis.

"You acquired Cathay Pacific Airways in a way he couldn't comprehend, and in the end, he signed the share transfer agreement without saying anything, as if he had come to terms with it. Does it feel a bit like 'the winner takes all'?"

You know, when Jiang Chen heard Ji Jun say that, he really felt there was a bit of that sentiment in it.

As for Bo Yiqun's last words, after Ji Jun's prompting, he knew what they meant without even thinking.

Bo Yiqun should be a member of the Illuminati. They should have some kind of plan for Cathay Pacific Airways, and Bo Yiqun should be their agent. However, Jiang Chen's sudden appearance disrupted something.

It could be some kind of plan, or it could just be Bo Yiqun bluffing.

Thinking this, Jiang Chen directly interrupted Ji Jun, who was about to continue speaking. He relied on the system, so why would he fear some Illuminati?

"Don't worry about it so much, President Ji. If anything happens, don't you still have me?"

Jiang Chen took out cigarettes, handed them to Ji Jun and Xu Minghao respectively, and said in a relaxed and mysterious tone, "Do you think I would be afraid of that Illuminati nonsense?"

Ji Jun and Xu Minghao exchanged glances and then both laughed easily.

Isn't our Chairman Jiang also unusually mysterious? He acquired Cathay Pacific Airways, which was supposedly controlled by the Illuminati, overnight.

When the sky falls, the tall ones bear the brunt. With Chairman Jiang, this great Buddha, in front, would they be afraid of that Illuminati hiding in the dark?

Their current vision was not gained by being timid and hesitant, but by real, hard-earned status and insight!

As the three smoked, Jiang Chen casually asked Ji Jun, "President Ji, where did you learn about the Illuminati?"

Ji Jun exhaled a long puff of smoke, as if reminiscing, and said:

"That was when I was a secretary by Old Xu's side, about ten years ago, I think. At that time, Old Xu told me that the Illuminati had sent him an invitation, wanting him to join."

Thinking of this, Ji Jun looked at Jiang Chen and suddenly laughed out loud. He said with a smile, "At that time, Old Xu said the same thing as you, Chairman Jiang."

"Guess what Old Xu said?"

The three looked at each other and, in unison, laughed and said, "Would I be afraid of that Illuminati nonsense?"
