56: I want to redeem myself from my crime and make meritorious service! I want to report Boyiqun!

“Haha.”

Bo Yiqun looked at the departing crowd and let out a cold laugh.

Jiang Chen’s attention was again drawn to Bo Yiqun, who had remained silent since entering and hadn’t lost his composure like the other shareholders.

The information Ji Jun had collected on him almost suggested that this person was as clean as could be; aside from tolerating his nephew in the company, there seemed to be nothing else.

He Xianjie had his men escort the Group away. He then approached Xu Minghao, giving him an inquiring look, while also glancing at Jiang Chen.

Xu Minghao nodded to He Xianjie, indicating he understood.

Jiang Chen noticed their interaction and looked at Xu Minghao, hoping for an explanation.

Xu Minghao quickly came over and whispered a few words into Jiang Chen’s ear.

Listening to Xu Minghao, Jiang Chen’s brows furrowed involuntarily.

“Well, well, I thought you were truly a good person, but what you’ve done is even more deserving of the guillotine than those scumbags!”

“Jinzhong, take the others out and have them assist Manager Li and Manager Yang.”

After hearing Xu Minghao’s words, Jiang Chen immediately had Xu Jinzhong clear the room, as the conversation that followed was not for them to hear.

“Yes, Chairman Jiang.”

Xu Jinzhong directed everyone to leave the conference room in an orderly fashion.

A young female intern responsible for taking meeting minutes quickly followed Xu Jinzhong out. She had almost been scared to death; the scene of Chairman Jiang coercing the directors of Cathay Pacific Airways was something she had only ever seen in movies and novels!

The other Xinghe Group employees also looked at Jiang Chen with expressions of admiration.

“Is this what business warfare is like?”

Just as they were about to discuss Chairman Jiang’s heroic display with their colleagues back at the Group, Xu Jinzhong turned around.

He smiled faintly and said to everyone, “Colleagues, what just happened, I hope all of you will have forgotten by the time you leave this conference room.”

After speaking, he scanned the room, as if trying to memorize each person’s face.

“Understand?”

Xu Jinzhong’s voice was soft and gentle, but everyone detected a different meaning.

“Understood, Secretary-General Xu!”

He nodded with satisfaction, then spoke to the young woman who had been taking meeting minutes.

“Give me your computer with the meeting minutes.”

What Jiang Chen did was ultimately not entirely good. To put it nicely, it was clearing out pests and acquiring shares; to put it less nicely, it was coercing them into signing that agreement, and then discarding them once they were no longer useful.

Whether in officialdom or the business world, there’s a saying: “killing a person doesn’t go beyond a nod of the head” (meaning, don’t overdo it).

So, what Xu Jinzhong did was to eliminate all possible risks, ensuring no factor would affect Jiang Chen and Xinghe Group.

Then he seemed to feel it wasn't secure enough.

Xu Jinzhong spoke again: “Each of you will come to me later to sign a non-disclosure agreement.”

“Yes, Secretary-General Xu!”

Facing Xu Jinzhong’s words, no one dared to disobey; he was the boss’s most trusted confidant.

By the way, because Xu Jinzhong’s abilities were truly exceptional, Jiang Chen had already promoted him to Secretary-General of the Board of Directors Office, which is a position of real power within Xinghe Group, only slightly lower than Xu Minghao.

Jiang Chen had told Ji Jun more than once that Xu Jinzhong’s previous role as a private butler was a waste of his talent, and he was glad that he, Jiang Chen, had the discerning eye to discover Xu Jinzhong.

Whenever Jiang Chen and Ji Jun discussed this, Ji Jun would always chuckle. Xu Jinzhong’s abilities were indeed evident to all, and even he couldn’t find any fault with them.

Back to the main topic.

Inside the conference room, after Xu Jinzhong led the Group out, only Jiang Chen, Ji Jun, Xu Minghao, and the two bodyguards Li Zha and Zheng Yan, who were responsible for Jiang Chen’s safety, remained, along with Bo Yiqun, who was still seated, and several people from the Economic Crime Investigation Department.

After everyone had left and it was confirmed there were no outsiders, Xu Minghao recounted what Xie Yifa had said during his interrogation and the possibility of Bo Yiqun’s treason.

After listening, Jiang Chen spoke to He Xianjie: “Inspector He, why did that Xie Yifa insist on seeing me?”

He Xianjie gave a wry smile. He had initially thought Xie Yifa was an easy target, but unexpectedly, after demanding to see Jiang Chen yesterday, Xie Yifa refused to speak, no matter what methods they used.

He said he would reveal everything, and even provide evidence, proving Bo Yiqun’s collusion with outside forces, only after he had met Jiang Chen.

This was also why Bo Yiqun was able to come downstairs to greet Jiang Chen earlier and why he was still sitting there now.

Based solely on Xie Yifa’s word, and without any evidence, they could only keep a close watch on him. One could say that everything they did was irregular, but He Xianjie was eager for a meritorious service, and with superiors backing him, his actions this time were almost reckless.

“Chairman Jiang, there’s no other way. Xie Yifa is adamant that he will only submit evidence proving Bo Yiqun’s crimes after he has seen you.”

“That’s why I asked Mr. Xu to speak to you, to see if you could help us with this.”

As He Xianjie said this, Bo Yiqun began to tremble in his chair.

Bo Yiqun still believed he had left absolutely no trace, and he couldn’t believe that useless nephew of his would know about his secretive actions.

“Don’t move!”

The two police officers behind him noticed Bo Yiqun’s movement, thinking he was about to do something, and quickly held him down, preventing any action.

As for why he wasn’t handcuffed, it was because there was no evidence yet to prove whether Bo Yiqun was as Xie Yifa described.

Bo Yiqun felt the force on his shoulders. He reminded himself that he couldn't have been exposed. Suppressing the shivers running through his body, he no longer allowed himself to show any more emotion.

He knew that as long as he didn’t say anything, these police officers wouldn’t be able to produce evidence and would release him before long.

Jiang Chen smiled and said to He Xianjie: “Inspector He, you’ve helped us so much, I definitely have to help with this small matter.”

Xu Minghao had also mentioned He Xianjie to him—he was a person sent by Xu Minghao’s old classmate to help him. Since He Xianjie had helped Jiang Chen so much, he would certainly agree to He Xianjie’s request, especially since he also wanted to see if this Bo Yiqun was truly a traitor.

Thinking this.

Jiang Chen planned to express his gratitude to Zheng Guoqiang, whom Xu Minghao had mentioned, after the matter was resolved. If it weren’t for his help, things would certainly not have gone so smoothly.

At the same time, he didn’t forget Xu Minghao, the great contributor, as this was his personal connection. He had already thought about how to properly reward Xu Minghao.

He Xianjie was overjoyed when he heard this. “Thank you, Chairman Jiang. Please wait a moment, I will have Xie Yifa brought over now.”

Jiang Chen smiled and nodded.

A moment later, He Xianjie returned with Xie Yifa, who was handcuffed and had his arms held by two police officers.

At this moment, his once carefully styled hair, set with mousse, hung down in strands. His face was pale, and he had heavy dark circles under his eyes.

He Xianjie had kept him awake all night, and Xie Yifa was now on the verge of a mental breakdown.

When he saw Xu Minghao in the conference room, clearly deferring to the young man seated at the head of the conference table, Xie Yifa knew this young man was Chairman Jiang, who had turned Cathay Pacific Airways upside down.

He became agitated, and from somewhere, he found the strength to struggle violently, shouting loudly: “Chairman Jiang! Chairman Jiang!”

The two officers holding him tightly restrained him.

“Don’t move!”

But Xie Yifa continued to struggle, and finally, with a thud, he knelt before Jiang Chen, and the two officers couldn’t pull him up no matter how hard they tried.

This startled Jiang Chen. In his life, he had never encountered anyone who would kneel before him; this was the first.

“Chairman Jiang, save me! No! Chairman Jiang, spare me! As long as you don’t pursue my embezzlement of company funds, I will immediately reveal the evidence of Bo Yiqun’s collusion with outside forces!”

“I want to atone for my crimes by rendering meritorious service! I want to expose Bo Yiqun!!!”

Xie Yifa shouted loudly at Jiang Chen.

Bo Yiqun listened to his nephew’s words and watched his current actions, his heart also wavering. He roared frantically in his mind:

“Impossible! How could this useless person know about my affairs!!!”
