116: Chapter 116 You've Arrived Just in Time

"Dad, Meng Li, what are you two chatting about?"

Just as Chang Bai Cao and Meng Li finished their "man-to-man" talk, Su Ying's voice suddenly drifted over.

Chang Bai Cao immediately shot Meng Li a look, his expression shifting as he waved a hand. "Nothing, just chatting. I have things to do, you two talk."

With that, he turned and left.

Seeing this, Su Ying keenly felt something was off, but Chang Bai Cao walked quickly. She couldn't press him, so she turned her gaze toward Meng Li.

Meng Li smiled and said, "My father-in-law was asking me for a guarantee."

Su Ying's brows furrowed, her expressive eyes filled with a mix of shyness and joy. "Father-in-law?"

Meng Li took her hand, gently stroking it in his own, his eyes crinkling with a smile. "Your father just agreed to our relationship. All that's left is a ceremony we can hold anytime. Isn't it only right that I call him 'father-in-law'?"

Su Ying gave him a playful glare but didn't refute him, instead following the topic. "What kind of guarantee did he want?"

Meng Li replied, "He wanted me to guarantee that I'll treat you well in the future and never let you down."

The corners of Su Ying's lips curled up slightly. "And did you give it?"

"Of course, I even swore an oath."

"Though I may not be devoted to only one, I will never be heartless or unfaithful. For the rest of my life, I will certainly not fail you."

"If I do, may heaven strike—"

Before he could finish the oath, Su Ying covered his mouth with her hand.

Seeing this, Meng Li reached out and pulled her into his embrace.

Su Ying's cheeks turned slightly red. She guiltily glanced around and only relaxed when she saw no one was there, hugging him back.

"I missed you so much." After embracing for a moment, Meng Li whispered his longing into Su Ying's ear, his warm breath tickling her.

Su Ying felt her ears heating up, but she retorted, "Liar. You've clearly been stuck to Jiang Yu Feng like glue these past few days."

Meng Li's expression stiffened, and he said indignantly, "Who said that? I'm going to sue her for slander!"

Just as he finished speaking, a voice rang out: "It seems I've come at a bad time."

Su Ying, like a startled rabbit, instinctively tried to pull away, but Meng Li held her down.

Then, Meng Li looked toward Jiang Yu Feng. His heart stirred, and he solemnly reenacted an iconic scene: "No, you've come at just the right time."

After saying that, he opened his other arm to her.

Jiang Yu Feng pursed her lips and didn't fall into his embrace. Instead, she pulled Su Ying away.

Then, seeing Meng Li's stunned expression, she couldn't help but chuckle softly. "Wanting to have one on each arm before we're even married? Dream on!"

"I'm not Yu Yan, Xinlan, or Xiao Xiao; I won't spoil you."

With that, she pulled the giggling Su Ying along and left.

Meng Li withdrew his gesture and pouted. He wasn't truly angry, but he made a mental note to settle the score when they were alone.

But whether it was out of caution or some agreement they had reached, for the rest of the time, Jiang Yu Feng stayed with Su Ying, Tie Xinlan, Jiang Yuyan, and Xiao Xiao. She even slept with Jiang Yuyan at night.

Meng Li couldn't find an opportunity, so he had to postpone that debt and turned to browsing the books collected by Chang Bai Cao and Su Rushi.

As a guest, he didn't need to worry about the wedding arrangements for Xiao Yuer and Mu Rong Xian.

Tie Xinlan and the others just enjoyed being part of the excitement.

Soon, the day after tomorrow arrived.

Early in the morning, a group of people arrived at Poison King Valley. They were unexpected yet made sense: Murong Wudi, his two sons Murong Zhong and Murong Zheng, and some servants from the Murong Family carrying gifts.

They were unexpected because the Murong Family didn't really approve of Xiao Yuer as a son-in-law.

As for why it made sense...

Regardless, Mu Rong Xian was a member of the Murong Family, their most pampered pearl.

Now that she was getting married and the Murong Family knew, it was impossible for them not to send someone.

In the original story, no one came because they were all dead.

Now that Liu Xi had been killed off early by Meng Li, the Murong Family hadn't suffered any persecution. With Xiao Yuer having allies like Yan Nantian and Hua Wuchuan, even if Murong Wudi still found this brat Xiao Yuer an eyesore, he wouldn't miss his daughter's big day.

However, although they came, their expressions weren't very pleasant.

They were only slightly better toward Yan Nantian, Chang Bai Cao, and Su Rushi—fellow members of the Martial Forest with extraordinary reputations.

Toward everyone else, they mostly kept a stern Face.

As for the two protagonists of the day...

It was a complete display of shifting moods!

Toward Mu Rong Xian, there was helplessness mixed with doting.

When it came to Xiao Yuer, he was looked upon with total disdain.

Xiao Yuer, however, kept a forced smile.

Because of the changes brought by Meng Li, the timing of his infiltration into the Murong Family had changed. He hadn't heard about Murong Wudi helping Liu Xi besiege Tie Ruyun as in the original story, so he naturally had no grounds to mock his father-in-law for being a hypocrite.

It was understandable that the other party didn't want him to be with Mu Rong Xian.

Therefore, regarding the matter of eloping with Mu Rong Xian, Xiao Yuer was the one in the wrong.

The fact that Murong Wudi could even show up today was already considered giving Face.

Yan Nantian, Hua Wuchuan, and the others also knew this, so they couldn't say much and could only turn a blind eye to Murong Wudi's cold treatment of Xiao Yuer.

Seeing Xiao Yuer acting all humble and subservient, Meng Li laughed inwardly.

That's what you get for being the brat who ran off with someone's daughter. Now you're getting your karma!

Unexpectedly, while Murong Wudi's Face was still stern, he walked over to him. "You are Tie Ruyun's son-in-law?"

Meng Li replied neither humbly nor arrogantly, "I am."

"I heard that you once heavily injured the Beggars Sect Leader with a single palm at the Huangshan Gathering Hall. It seems your Raging Lion Iron Palm has received Tie Ruyun's true inheritance. Today happens to be a good opportunity; why don't you let me see how many levels of Tie Ruyun's power you possess."

Meng Li's eyes narrowed slightly. "Today is your daughter's big day. It's not quite appropriate to fight now."

"No matter. It's not yet the auspicious hour. We'll stop when the point is made; it'll only take a few moves."

Meng Li looked toward Xiao Yuer.

Murong Wudi immediately frowned. "Why are you looking at him! Don't tell me you need to check his expression for such a small matter? Or are you afraid?"

What do you mean "check Xiao Yuer's expression"? It's called following the host's lead!

He came to drink wedding wine, not to be a nuisance. If he was going to fight, he naturally had to ask for the host's opinion.

Meng Li complained in his heart, thinking that Murong Wudi's reputation for having an eccentric personality was indeed true.

Seeing this, Xiao Yuer made a pleading gesture to Meng Li.

Meng Li smiled slightly. "Since Senior is interested, I shall accompany you."

Murong Wudi stroked his beard with satisfaction and turned to walk toward the courtyard.

Meng Li followed closely.

In a short while, the two of them stood ready in the courtyard.

Murong Wudi didn't stand on ceremony and directly attacked Meng Li with the opening stance of the Raging Dragon Palm.

The Raging Dragon Palm was a peerless technique that could rival the Raging Lion Iron Palm and was quite famous in the Martial Forest. Murong Wudi's Martial Arts were not bad in the Jianghu, at least much stronger than those of the Sect Head level. As he made his move, it was not only accompanied by a low dragon's roar but also carried an invisible wild wind, appearing extremely powerful.

E Tongtian, Xiao Yuer, the Five Great Villains, and others with low or average Martial Arts were instantly intimidated.

Tie Xinlan, Yu Yan, and Xiao Xiao, however, remained calm.

First, they had been taught by Meng Li and their Martial Arts were already extraordinary. Second, they had heard from Meng Li and even Tie Ruyun that Murong Wudi couldn't hurt him.

In the eyes of Hua Wuchuan and Yan Nantian, the strength Murong Wudi displayed could only be described as decent.

But in Meng Li's eyes...
