124: Chapter 4 Lu Chengfeng
Taihu Lake, Guiyun Village.
Lu Chengfeng was watching his son, Lu Guanying, practice Martial Arts.
After watching for a short while, he couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
Lu Chengfeng was a Disciple of Peach Blossom Island, one of the six Disciples under Medicine Master Huang, and possessed impressive Martial Arts. Unfortunately, implicated by Mei Chaofeng and Chen Xuanfeng, his hamstrings were severed by Medicine Master Huang and he was expelled from the sect, eventually establishing Guiyun Village near Taihu Lake.
Logically, as father and son, he should have passed the Peach Blossom Island Martial Arts to Lu Guanying.
But Lu Chengfeng didn't do that; instead, he had Lu Guanying study under Monk Kumu, an external Martial Arts expert of the Xianxia Sect, a branch of the Shaolin Monastery.
Because he had been expelled from the sect, without Medicine Master Huang's permission, he did not dare to pass on the Peach Blossom Island Martial Arts to outsiders.
Even if Lu Guanying wasn't considered an outsider.
Consequently, Lu Guanying's Martial Arts were somewhat mediocre.
This was because although Monk Kumu had some reputation, the Martial Arts he taught could not compare to the direct lineage of Peach Blossom Island.
Thus, every time Lu Chengfeng watched his son practice, he couldn't help but feel emotional.
A moment later, Lu Guanying finished his demonstration.
Lu Chengfeng provided some corrections based on his own knowledge.
Just as Lu Guanying was absorbing the advice and preparing to practice again, a servant suddenly approached to report: "Village Master, Young Village Master, two people have arrived at the gate, saying they have business with the Village Master, and it concerns an old friend of yours."
Lu Chengfeng was slightly startled. Concerns an old friend of mine?
Soon, he met the visitors in the front hall; they were none other than Meng Li and Silly Aunt.
Lu Chengfeng looked them over and realized he didn't recognize them, feeling curious: "I am Lu Chengfeng, and this is my son Lu Guanying. May I ask who you two are?"
Meng Li cupped his hands and said, "I am Meng Li, and this is Silly Aunt."
Lu Chengfeng thought for a moment, certain he hadn't heard these names before, so he got straight to the point: "Young Hero Meng, I heard from my servant that you have business with me concerning an old friend. I wonder which old friend you are referring to?"
Meng Li said: "Qu Lingfeng."
"Senior Brother Qu?" Lu Chengfeng was shocked and immediately asked: "Where is he now? Is he well?"
Meng Li spoke bluntly: "He died ten years ago. I recently found his remains by chance and buried him in Niu Family Village of Linan Prefecture."
Lu Chengfeng was stunned, then said in disbelief: "Senior Brother Qu had the highest Martial Arts among us and was the most favored by our Master. I am still alive, how could he have passed away so young?"
Meng Li didn't explain much; he took out Qu Lingfeng's last letter from his robe and flicked it to Lu Chengfeng with a clever use of force.
Lu Chengfeng took it and opened it to read carefully.
After finishing it, he couldn't help but sigh.
He already believed seventy to eighty percent of the news regarding Qu Lingfeng's death. He recognized Qu Lingfeng's handwriting and understood his character. Even he had always thought of returning to Medicine Master Huang's sect; the most favored Qu Lingfeng would naturally be no exception. Given his personality, going to the Imperial Palace to steal treasures for that purpose was indeed something he would do.
After thinking, Lu Chengfeng looked at Silly Aunt and asked Meng Li, "Is she Senior Brother Qu's daughter?"
"Correct," Meng Li confirmed.
Lu Chengfeng pondered for a moment and asked, "How can it be proven?"
Actually, he believed it to some extent but didn't dare to be completely certain.
Meng Li said: "You'll know if you let the Young Village Master trade a few blows with her."
Lu Chengfeng understood instantly; Silly Aunt must have learned Peach Blossom Island's Martial Arts. He inwardly thought Senior Brother Qu was truly bold to dare teach the sect's Martial Arts without the Master's permission. Then, thinking of his actions, he felt relieved.
Someone who dared to steal treasures from the Imperial Palace would naturally be bold.
Moreover, now that he was gone, even if Medicine Master Huang wanted to hold him accountable, there was nothing he could do.
He couldn't possibly kill the only orphaned child of his favorite Disciple, could he?"
Thinking of this, Lu Chengfeng said to Lu Guanying: "Guanying, go exchange a few blows with this young lady. Be mindful of your strength and don't hurt her."
"Yes."
Lu Guanying agreed, walked forward a few steps, and stood in an open space.
Meng Li pointed at Lu Guanying and said to Silly Aunt: "Silly Aunt, hit him. If you win, I'll buy you something delicious."
Hearing this, Silly Aunt immediately put down the pastry in her hand, clapped her hands, walked up to Lu Guanying, and swung her palm at him.
Lu Guanying was prepared and easily dodged.
Seeing her strike miss, Silly Aunt immediately attacked again.
Lu Guanying countered the moves.
Within just two or three rounds, Lu Chengfeng saw the technique and let out a light exclamation: "Bibo Palm Technique?"
Now he believed it completely.
Although the Bibo Palm Technique was only an introductory martial art of Peach Blossom Island, it wasn't something just anyone would know.
Seeing this, Meng Li called a halt in time: "Silly Aunt, stop."
Silly Aunt stopped immediately.
Lu Guanying also withdrew and returned to Lu Chengfeng's side.
Then, Lu Chengfeng asked: "Young Hero, why have you brought my niece here?"
Meng Li said directly: "I want to settle her here in Guiyun Village."
Lu Chengfeng realized and then readily agreed: "That is no problem."
"She is Senior Brother Qu's daughter. Now that Senior Brother Qu is gone, as her Junior Martial Uncle, I should naturally look after her."
He meant these words sincerely.
Before the incident of being expelled from the sect occurred, the relationship between their fellow Disciples was, if not better than siblings, at least not bad.
After the expulsion, the only ones he hated were Chen Xuanfeng and Mei Chaofeng.
After all, he was doing perfectly fine and had done nothing wrong, yet he was suddenly caught in the crossfire—not to mention having his legs broken and hamstrings severed, he was even expelled from the sect.
Any normal person would feel hatred!
As for his senior and junior brothers Qu Lingfeng, Wu Mianfeng, and Feng Mofeng, Lu Chengfeng did not hate them; instead, because they shared the same fate, he felt a sense of shared suffering.
Now learning that Qu Lingfeng was dead and only an orphaned daughter remained who needed care, he was truly willing to take her in.
Guiyun Village was not considered a top-tier power, but supporting one more person was not an issue at all.
Meng Li smiled: "In that case, I will leave Silly Aunt in Village Master Lu's care from now on."
Then, as if remembering something, he changed the subject: "Has there been any improvement in Village Master Lu's legs?"
Lu Chengfeng's expression stiffened, and then he shook his head.
Meng Li said: "I know a bit of the Art of Medicine. If the Village Master trusts me, why not let me take a look? Perhaps there is a way to treat them."
"Truly?" It was Lu Guanying who spoke.
A ripple of emotion also rose in Lu Chengfeng's heart, but it subsided in an instant.
Because Meng Li was too young!
Although some things cannot be judged by age, medical skills truly require accumulation.
Meng Li smiled: "Whether it can be treated or not, I can only be certain after I have examined the situation."
Lu Guanying immediately looked at Lu Chengfeng: "Father."
Lu Chengfeng thought for a moment; it was just an examination, no harm would come of it.
Even if Meng Li wanted to do something, he was confident he could handle it.
So, Lu Chengfeng said: "Then I shall trouble you, Young Hero."
Seeing this, Lu Guanying hurriedly helped Lu Chengfeng take off his shoes and socks and rolled his trouser legs up above his knees.
Meng Li walked over, looked at the injuries, pressed them with his hand, and used True Qi to seep in and investigate the internal condition.
Lu Chengfeng sensed this and was incredibly surprised.
What was the background of this person? To have such profound cultivation at such a young age!
And how did he and Silly Aunt know each other?
After about the time it takes for half a stick of incense to burn, Meng Li withdrew his hand.
"Young Hero, can it be treated?"
"It can, but..."
