688: Chapter 99 Blood Pool, Wolf Prime Minister

Stepping across the entrance to the second level and entering, Meng Li, Hong Kui, and Lan Kui were instantly hit by a pungent smell of blood. Looking closer, they discovered a massive blood pool in the space, surrounded by giant stone sculptures of broken swords and ferocious snake-shaped stone sculptures.

Meng Li frowned and said, "Why is there a blood pool here?"

Hong Kui shook her head, "I'm not sure. The lower levels are occupied by the Heavenly Demon Emperor, and I haven't been down here."

Lan Kui guessed, "Perhaps they specifically created this to perform some sort of evil sorcery, with the goal of increasing their strength or breaking the Seal."

Meng Li nodded slightly, "It's possible."

He had just probed with his Divine Thought and confirmed that the blood pool did indeed contain a source of power. However, it looked like it had already been absorbed by someone; what remained was the residue settled at the bottom, not easily visible on the surface.

Not only that, but many Yin Spirits were hidden within the blood pool and the surrounding walls.

In just a short while, those Yin Spirits seemed to have noticed the trio and began crawling out from the blood pool and the walls.

They looked similar to the Yin Spirits from the ninth level before—grotesque heads and serpentine bodies, entirely misty, with ferocious faces and carrying heavy resentment.

Combining the scene, Meng Li felt that the birth of these Yin Spirits was inseparable from the blood pool. They were likely monsters who were thrown into the blood pool for sacrifice, and their lingering resentment caused their souls not to dissipate, turning them into Yin Spirits.

Therefore, he stopped Hong Kui and Lan Kui, who were about to attack, and extended his hand toward the charging Yin Spirits.

Restraining Spirits and Dispatching Generals!

Instantly, all the Yin Spirits froze; no matter how much they struggled, they could not move.

Then, Meng Li spoke, "Every wrong has its perpetrator; go find whoever harmed you."

Upon hearing this, the Yin Spirits on the scene simultaneously turned around and charged toward the stone door on the other side.

Soon, movement could be heard from outside that stone door.

"Idiots! Your target is the people who broke into the Blood Pool, not us!"

"Damn it!"

"Are you insane? You dare attack us!"

"Rebellion! Rebellion!"

"You're courting death!"

Immediately following were sounds of fighting and the roars of wild beasts.

But the commotion soon subsided. Then the stone door opened, and several figures walked in.

To call them figures was generous; one look confirmed they were monsters.

This was because their transformation was incomplete, retaining some obvious bestial features.

It was clear that those Yin Spirits were not strong enough and had been annihilated by these monsters.

Among these monsters, the leader was a wolf demon.

As soon as they met, it flung a rope glowing green light toward Meng Li, Hong Kui, and Lan Kui.

Once released, the rope seemed to gain life, pouncing like a spiritual snake, attempting to entangle and bind the trio.

Hong Kui and Lan Kui subconsciously backed away to dodge.

Meng Li, however, neither dodged nor avoided. As the light rope flew near, he directly activated Divine Mechanism Hundred Refinements.

Empowered by his formidable cultivation, in the blink of an eye, he completed the refinement of the light rope, then pointed a finger.

The light rope immediately turned against its master, binding the wolf demon and its subordinate monsters tightly, much to the wolf demon's astonished expression.

A nearby dog demon looked utterly bewildered, "Wolf Vizier, why did you tie us up? Shouldn't you be tying up those three opposite us!"

"Exactly."

"Lord Wolf Vizier, did you make a mistake!"

"Hurry up and untie it."

...Several surrounding monsters also clamored.

The wolf demon, called the "Wolf Vizier," quickly muttered an incantation, attempting to undo the rope, only to find it useless.

Instantly, it realized it hadn't made a mistake; the Magic Treasure must have malfunctioned, likely because Meng Li had tampered with it.

Realizing this, the Wolf Vizier immediately roared at Meng Li, "Human Race, what did you do to my treasure?"

"I'll tell you, we are the trusted subordinates of the Heavenly Demon Emperor."

"You quickly release us, return my treasure, and then come with me to plead guilty before the Great King."

"Otherwise..."

Before the words were finished, Meng Li struck across the void with a slap.

With a crisp crack, the Wolf Vizier was sent flying, landing with a splash into the nearby blood pool.

In that instant, it was as if it encountered torture, letting out an astonishing, tragic howl.

Correspondingly, the blood pool seemed to undergo some kind of chemical reaction, bubbling fiercely.

Concurrently, the Wolf Vizier dissolved at a speed visible to the naked eye, instantly turning into a pool of bloody water and merging into the Blood Pool.

The light rope also snapped off a section due to the melting.

The dog demon bound closest to the Wolf Vizier was directly stunned into silence by fear.

The other monsters also looked horrified, their hearts pounding with lingering fear.

Hong Kui and Lan Kui were equally startled.

Even Meng Li felt surprised.

He had guessed that this blood pool was no good thing, most likely used for sacrifices or similar purposes, but he hadn't expected the efficiency to be so high.

At this moment, a Yin Spirit crawled out of the blood pool. Judging by its face, it was the recently deceased Wolf Vizier.

It scanned its surroundings, then lunged toward Meng Li filled with resentment.

Meng Li raised his hand and shot out a Five Thunder Talisman, striking it until its Soul Flying Away and Spirit Scattering, then asked the monsters, "What is this blood pool used for?"

Seeing Meng Li's ruthless action, the nearest dog demon shivered, intending to answer honestly.

But before it could speak, a voice preempted, "Why don't you go down and try it, and then you'll know."

Hearing this voice, the monsters felt both shock and delight. They turned toward the source of the sound and shouted in unison, "Great King!"
