228: Chapter 8 The Cause of My Uncle's Death

Facing Meng Li's ridicule, Li Qingluo did not respond immediately.

It wasn't that she didn't want to, but that she couldn't.

When Meng Li struck her acupoints just now, he had also struck her Mute Point.

Meng Li understood this, so he extended a finger and tapped the air, unblocking her Mute Point from a distance.

As soon as the point was unblocked, Li Qingluo asked with a trembling voice, "What Demonic Technique did you just use?!"

Meng Li gave a soft laugh. "Why don't you try it and find out?"

Li Qingluo wanted to refuse, but she couldn't.

A moment later, Meng Li obtained the answers he wanted from her mouth.

Then, he was somewhat speechless.

How should he describe the fate of his 'cheap' uncle in this life?

It confirmed a saying Meng Li had heard in his first life—a simp never comes to a good end!

That's right, his 'cheap' uncle was Li Qingluo's simp.

However, he ultimately came from a great clan like the Wang Family, so he didn't just simp brainlessly.

He married Li Qingluo for two reasons: first, he liked her and regarded her as his dream goddess; second, he was eyeing the heritage she possessed—specifically, the Martial Arts Secret Manuals from the Langhuan Blessed Land.

He knew about Li Qingluo's premarital pregnancy, but out of a simp's mentality towards his goddess, he generously chose to accept it.

His elder sister, Lady Wang, was resentful, but he even mediated the situation.

It was precisely because she had this husband protecting her that Li Qingluo was able to stay safely in the Wang Family at that time.

But before long, a disagreement arose between the two, the root of which was that Li Qingluo was still thinking of Duan Zhengchun and intended to remain chaste for him.

She wanted to remain as pure as jade, but Meng Li's 'cheap' uncle in this life was not happy about it.

Happily marrying a goddess and bringing her home, only to be allowed to look but not touch—any normal man would find that hard to accept.

It's true he was a simp, but he was still a scion of a prestigious family.

Even if Li Qingluo was as beautiful as a flower and he adored her, it was impossible for him to truly simp without any dignity.

Li Qingluo saw this and could only use her pregnancy to stall for time, but she knew it wasn't a long-term solution, so she sought advice from her adoptive father, Ding Chunqiu.

Initially, Li Qingluo didn't want to kill Meng Li's 'cheap' uncle; at most, she just wanted to make it impossible for him to touch her. After all, he was her husband in name, treated her very well, and with his protection, she could live peacefully.

But Ding Chunqiu disagreed with her.

Ding Chunqiu was a man and understood men better than Li Qingluo did.

For most men, losing the ability to touch women is harder to accept than death.

When the time came and the man became twisted and crazed, he might do anything.

Instead of that, it would be better to just kill him.

Li Qingluo thought it made sense, and with Ding Chunqiu's instigation, she agreed.

Meng Li's 'cheap' uncle was completely unaware and was invisibly poisoned to death after some time.

After this incident, to be safe, Li Qingluo and Ding Chunqiu rarely contacted each other.

Ding Chunqiu's visit to Manda Mountain Villa this time was at Li Qingluo's written invitation; her goal was to deal with Meng Li, but she didn't intend to kill him, only to intimidate him.

It wasn't that the two were soft-hearted, but rather that killing Meng Li would bring a lot of trouble.

Li Qingluo only wanted to lord it over others in Manda Mountain Villa and didn't want to cause trouble.

This was also the main reason she and Ding Chunqiu hadn't made their relationship public: the latter was notorious and had many enemies. If people knew she was his adoptive daughter, the number of people looking to cause her trouble or even kill her would surely multiply, and even the Murong Family and Wang Family combined might not be able to protect her.

Additionally, another point caught Meng Li's attention: Ding Chunqiu hadn't come alone this time; he had also brought a newly recruited disciple named A Zi.

Having understood the situation, Meng Li waved his hand, making Li Qingluo fall unconscious, and then began to think about how to handle the aftermath.

Before he could come to a conclusion, he sensed someone approaching.

After a brief thought, Meng Li carried the unconscious Ding Chunqiu and hid in the woods.

Then, he quickly pulled back and returned.

Just as he returned to his original spot, the approaching person arrived.

It was none other than Wang Yuyan, followed by a maidservant and a girl of similar age who looked quite quirky and clever.

"Cousin!" Upon seeing Meng Li, Wang Yuyan called out to him happily, then lifted her small skirt and jogged over.

As she got closer, she noticed that something was a bit off.

"Cousin, what's wrong with my mother?" she asked.

Meng Li smiled and said, "Your aunt drank too much. Have someone help her back to rest."

"Oh, okay." Wang Yuyan didn't doubt him and turned to tell the maidservant to call someone to help Li Qingluo back to her room.

At this moment, Meng Li looked at the quirky little girl and asked Wang Yuyan, "Is she a newly bought maid for the villa? I haven't seen her before."

Wang Yuyan explained, "Her name is 'A Zi'. She's not a maid; she came to the villa as a guest with her Master yesterday. I ran into her just now, and she said she was looking for her Master. I didn't know where her Master was, so I brought her here to find my mother."

Immediately, she introduced A Zi, "A Zi, this is my cousin, Murong Fu. He taught me my Martial Arts."

A Zi was sizing up her surroundings, her dark eyes darting around.

Hearing Wang Yuyan's words, she withdrew her gaze and obediently cupped her hands to Meng Li. "A Zi greets Young Master Murong."

Meng Li nodded slightly.

Before long, the maidservant found two sturdy women to support Li Qingluo and take her back to her room.

Seeing this, Meng Li took the opportunity to bid farewell. "It's about time; I should head back."

"Ah?" Wang Yuyan exclaimed in surprise, then said reluctantly, "Cousin, you're leaving already? Stay a little longer."

Meng Li tapped her forehead and said, between laughter and tears, "I have to go back and handle some matters. Go back to your own courtyard and practice hard; I'll be testing you tomorrow. If your progress doesn't satisfy me, I'm going to draw a turtle on your face."

"Ya?!" Wang Yuyan cried out, then refused without a second thought. "No!"

"Drawing a turtle on my face would be so ugly!"

"I don't want that!"

"I'm going back to practice right now!"

With that, she was about to leave, but after taking two steps, she turned back and said to Meng Li, "Cousin, let me see you off first."

Meng Li looked at her without speaking.

Wang Yuyan understood instantly and stuck out her tongue. "I'm going back to practice."

Then, she said to A Zi beside her, "A Zi, my mother has had too much to drink and probably won't wake up for a while. You go back first, and when she wakes up, I'll take you to ask her where your Master went."

"Okay." A Zi's eyes flickered slightly as she agreed with a smile. "Then I'll head back. Goodbye, Sister Yu Yan, Young Master Murong."

After A Zi left, Meng Li walked towards the exit.

Wang Yuyan immediately followed.

Meng Li glanced sideways at her.

The little girl grabbed his hand and shook it gently. "I'll see you to the door."

"Alright, as you wish."

After stepping out of Manda Mountain Villa, Wang Yuyan didn't leave immediately; she waited until Meng Li had boarded his boat before turning to go back.

Meng Li felt somewhat helpless.

This little girl is just too clingy!

Sighing inwardly, he rowed the boat to a corner and stopped, then used his Lightness Skill to go ashore, returning to the garden from earlier with familiarity.

This return was, of course, to deal with the hidden Ding Chunqiu.

However, upon arriving at the spot, Meng Li saw an unexpected scene.
