64: Announcement

On the other side of the city, Meng Yu, who had been guarding a specific node, saw the citizens who had turned into Monsters start attacking each other. She took out her white crystal and began to wait.

Ripples appeared in space, and a special mark emerged.

Once the mark appeared, Meng Yu guided the energy from the crystal into it. As she channeled the energy, the mark on the crystal gradually turned milky white, and finally, it silently faded into the air.

In an instant, tiny white specks of light appeared in the smog permeating the entire city, drifting like Fireflies and merging into the bodies of those violent Monsters.

The movements of the Monsters gradually slowed down, and their roars slowly weakened.

They looked around blankly, the blood-red light in their eyes gradually fading, replaced by fear and confusion.

Their twisted faces regained some human features, yet they remained hideous and terrifying.

Looking at their own grey-green skin, sharp claws, and other strange mutations on their bodies, terrified screams erupted one after another.

The home they once knew had turned into a living Hell, and they themselves had become Monsters.

Panic spread through the crowd, diffusing as rapidly as a plague.

Just then, a voice resounded in the minds of all the Monsters, like a great bell tolling, deafeningly loud.

"My fellow newborn Monsters, I am the Monster Emperor, the benefactor who granted you lowly humans rebirth and evolution, and I am your Emperor!" This voice carried an unquestionable majesty, proclaiming the rule of Mizuno Hiroshi.

"From now on, you shall all submit to me and become warriors fighting to create a truly beautiful world!"

The declaration of Mizuno Hiroshi was like pouring a basin of cold water into a boiling pot of oil, instantly inciting an even greater reaction.

Some Monsters stood stunned, seemingly still digesting the information, or perhaps quietly watching.

Others smiled, as if celebrating with joy.

Still others displayed strong feelings of resistance.

A muscular Monster resembling a rhinoceros roared at the sky: "Monster Emperor? Who the Hell do you think you are! You turned us into this ghostly state, and now you want to enslave us? Dream on!" He slammed a fist into the ground, causing the hard concrete to split instantly, with spiderweb-like cracks spreading out.

Another Monster with bat wings shrieked: "Exactly! Turn us back immediately! Otherwise, we'll make you taste our power!" He flapped his wings, whipping up a gale that sent surrounding debris flying everywhere.

More and more Monsters joined the ranks of the resistance, releasing angry roars to vent the dissatisfaction and fear in their hearts.

Under the agitation of these guys, the declaration of Mizuno Hiroshi seemed to turn into a farce...

Hearing the words of the Monsters who refused to buy into his act, Mizuno Hiroshi responded coldly in the minds of the Monsters: "You ungrateful lot, daring to attempt to resist me? Then I shall let you know the price of resistance."

His voice, like a cold wind from Hell, scraped across the consciousness of every Monster. Some cowardly Monsters began to tremble involuntarily; they wanted to stay away from the rebels, fearing they would be implicated, yet they dared not move a single step, as if nailed to the spot.

The air was filled with the scent of fear, suppressing the nerves of every Monster as if it were a physical weight.

Many Monsters heard this and were puzzled, but before they could react, bursts of exclamations and roars came from various urban districts.

They turned to look and saw some Monsters suddenly develop hollow eyes, their pupils dilated, as if they had lost their Soul. Exuding an aura of wildness, they lunged at the companions beside them; these were precisely the Monsters who had refused to buy into his act.

These mindless Monsters began their chaotic destruction and slaughter once again, leaving a trail of devastation wherever they went.

The sound of sharp claws tearing through flesh, the dull cracking of bones, and the agonizing wails intertwined into a symphony of horror, echoing over the city.

They tore at the flesh of their own kind, as crazed as beasts, with not a shred of reason to be found.

Some of the surrounding Monsters, who were already fearful, were so scared that they hid in corners, shivering. They curled up their bodies, trying to make themselves smaller and less conspicuous.

Some Monsters even began to cry, emitting strange whimpering sounds, like wounded beasts, desperate and helpless.

Severed limbs were scattered everywhere, blood stained the streets red, and the air was filled with a heavy, metallic scent of blood.

Some weak Monsters, on the verge of being killed by their mindless companions, could not help but let out the wails of a defeated dog.

"Why... why do this to us... why did I have to encounter such a thing?" A Monster covered in wounds knelt powerlessly on the ground, roaring at the sky, his voice filled with despair and indignation. "What exactly did we do wrong..."

The Monsters who were being attacked were initially at a loss, but soon, brave ones stood up and began to fight back against the mindless Monsters.

"Stop! Everyone stop!"

On the ruined streets, bloodied corpses piled up like mountains, and the air was thick with a nauseating stench of blood.

Some strong Monsters, such as one resembling an elephant, relied on brute force to tear their mindless counterparts into pieces.

A Monster resembling a large bird used its sharp wings, slicing through the mindless Monsters like blades, with every stroke accompanied by flying flesh and blood.

For a time, every district of Mingyu City was plunged into chaotic combat, with Monsters attacking one another in a truly gruesome scene.

On the streets, severed limbs were scattered everywhere, mixed with broken internal organs, forming a scene like a living Hell.

"Bang!" The elephant Monster smashed the head of a mindless Monster with one punch, brains splattering everywhere and spraying onto his face.

He wiped his face roughly, looked at the surrounding ruins, and felt his anger burning.

"Damn that Monster Emperor! He turned us into this ghostly state, and now he's making us kill each other! What the Hell does he want?!"

The large bird Monster landed on a towering ruin, overlooking the street below which resembled a slaughterhouse. Its sharp cry echoed in the night sky as the mindless Monsters clutched their heads, rolling on the ground in pain, before their bodies exploded.

After a fierce and brutal slaughter, all the ignorant ones were finally wiped out.

On the streets, severed limbs were scattered everywhere, mixed with broken internal organs, forming a scene like a living Hell.

Just then, the voice of Mizuno Hiroshi rang in their ears again: "You see now, this is the consequence of defying me. The reason you are still able to maintain your reason and think like humans is entirely due to the gift I have bestowed upon you. If you dare to resist again, be prepared to turn back into mindless beasts!"

Hearing the words of Mizuno Hiroshi, the Monsters recalled the crazed appearance of those mindless companions from before, and thought back to the stuporous state they themselves were in when they first became Monsters. Fear, like a cold viper, tightly coiled around their hearts.

They could not help but shudder in terror.
