10: Chapter 10 Only the Beastman Can Touch

Tang Ruan raised her hand, gripping the hand that was strangling her throat, and managed to force out a single syllable with difficulty.

"Let..."

The hand suddenly loosened, as if pricked by something.

Before she could even catch her breath, someone grabbed her shoulders and slammed her back against the wall.

Her back hit the stone wall hard, and a sharp pain shot up her spine to her throat.

Her vision blurred with tears from the pain, and in the darkness, she could only see a pair of tawny eyes.

"Lang Chi?"

"Do you think that my Wolf Tribe dare not kill you all?" he said in a hurried voice.

Dare not?

Tang Ruan was so angry she laughed.

They had driven all the Marmot Beastmen into water that was as hot as fifty degrees.

Causing many of the Beastmen to suffer from heatstroke and low-temperature burns.

The blisters on their bodies still hadn't faded.

They had tried to bite them to death several times, and even threatened to eat them!

How could she possibly think they wouldn't dare?

It was the Marmot Tribe who were too naive, thinking that if they just gave up their territory, the Wolf Tribe would let them go.

They didn't expect them to launch a sneak attack!

How truly despicable and shameless!

Seeing the mockery in Tang Ruan's eyes.

Lang Chi's gaze flickered, as if he were deep in thought.

Then, his eyes widened with rage as he glared at her.

It really was her who poisoned them!

In the evening, he had taken the food she gave him back and shared it with his sister's cub, Xingxing.

Xingxing had voluntarily shared some with the father of Lang Yu next door.

By midnight, both Xingxing and Lang Yu's father had been struck by fire poison.

Not even sparing a cub or an old beast, how vicious!

Lang Chi formed his hand into a claw and swiped at Tang Ruan's throat.

Suddenly, a scream from Tudou came from outside the cave.

"Let go of my mother! Hongshu! You let go of Hongshu!"

Tang Ruan, finding courage from somewhere, roared at Lang Chi: "What are you doing?"

"What am I doing?"

Lang Chi laughed evilly, dragged her out of the cave, and threw her onto the ground.

"Whatever I'm doing, it's not as vicious as you poisoning them!"

Poisoning?

Tang Ruan lay on the ground and looked up.

"Tang Ruan, are you okay?"

"We already gave the cave to you, what else do you want?"

"How can you be sure it was us who poisoned them?"

The voices of the Marmot Beastmen reached her ears.

Tang Ruan realized suddenly: "What poison? Who poisoned someone?"

She looked anxiously at Lang Chi.

"Tang Ruan! To wipe us all out, this pack of wolves insists that you poisoned them! We ate the snake meat too! If it were poisonous, wouldn't we all be dead by now?" said a Marmot Beastman.

Tang Ruan understood.

She looked at Lang Chi again.

"Someone from the Wolf Tribe ate the food I gave them and had a problem?"

"Hah!"

Lang Chi squatted down and pinched Tang Ruan's chin.

Forcing her to meet his gaze.

"The boss was right; you really are a descendant of a Witch Doctor."

"Witch Doctors are not only good at healing, but also good at poisoning."

They had seen her manipulate heavenly fire in the forest that day.

If a Witch Doctor could even manipulate heavenly fire, what was poisoning to her?

They had been too careless.

Tang Ruan looked around.

Lang Mo and Lang Feng had surrounded the Marmot Beastmen.

Lang Yu was under a tree, and all the capable Male Beastmen of the Marmot Tribe were hanging from the tree.

It was planned and premeditated; it looked like Lang Lie had authorized it.

And she had once thought he was a reasonable tribe leader...

"Let them go, and I can save him."

Tang Ruan knew that trying to prove her innocence now was meaningless; she just needed to save the people first, then they could talk.

"Admitting it now?" Lang Chi said viciously, "I won't give you another chance to get close to my family!"

Lang Yu looked over, "Lang Chi, my father..."

Lang Chi instantly transformed into his Beast Form and let out a low growl.

Lang Yu didn't continue.

Lang Chi turned back into human form and squatted in front of Tang Ruan.

Suddenly, Tang Ruan noticed that the place where Lang Chi had been bitten by the poisonous insect seemed to be festering...

A flash of inspiration struck her.

Could the fire poison he mentioned actually be a fever?

An allergic reaction caused by insect bites could also cause a fever.

She was just about to tell Lang Chi this idea.

He stood up, walked quickly to the Marmot Beastmen, pulled out a younger male beast, and threw him in front of Tang Ruan.

"I will cut this cub. If you cannot save my family before he bleeds out,"

"I will make you all pay with your lives!" he said, baring his sharp claws.

The little Male Beastman was so scared he instantly turned into his Beast Form.

Tang Ruan instinctively lunged forward, and at the same time, Lang Chi swung his sharp claws.

The claws sliced off a lock of Tang Ruan's long hair.

Lang Chi's eyes widened in disbelief.

In an instant, a gust of wind struck, and Lang Chi was knocked to the ground.

As the ground trembled, Tang Ruan's severed hair slowly drifted to the ground.

A giant silver-gray wolf stood in front of her.

The bright moonlight fell on his silky, silver-gray fur.

His ice-blue eyes were like eternal glaciers.

"What are you doing?"

His voice was deeper than in his human form, and Tang Ruan recognized it—it was Lang Lie!

He didn't know about Lang Chi and the others' actions?

Great!

There was still room for reconciliation.

"Boss," Lang Yu stepped forward, "this Female Beastman poisoned Xingxing and my father with fire poison."

Lang Lie looked at Tang Ruan.

Tang Ruan was slumped on the ground, holding a Marmot Beastman, her large, watery eyes full of fear.

"I didn't, you have to believe me!" her voice trembled.

She pointed at Lang Chi, her fingertips trembling uncontrollably, "He has bite marks from poisonous insects on him; he might have brought the poisonous insects back. Some people have allergic reactions after being bitten, leading to high, persistent fevers."

"It's fever! Burning up! Coma!"

She didn't know if Lang Lie understood her, but she had to seize the opportunity to explain everything clearly at once.

He was the only one who could save them now.

"But didn't you give us the insect-repellent belt?" Lang Lie asked in return.

Tang Ruan was stunned; she didn't understand why the insect-repellent belt had suddenly stopped working either.

Lang Chi suddenly thought of something and walked back in front of Tang Ruan.

Lang Lie's gaze followed him, fearing that he would attack the little Female Beastman again.

"So, you gave us fake belts on purpose to kill us?"

Tang Ruan shook her head desperately.

"I really don't know, but I am certain that poisonous insects do cause fevers, and I have a way to treat it."

"I don't—"

"Let her try." Lang Lie interrupted Lang Chi.

"Boss, you can't let her go, she's too dangerous! Have you forgotten? She can use heavenly fire! Our territory was destroyed by heavenly fire! She is a terrifying Witch Doctor!"

Tang Ruan didn't know what Lang Lie had told them.

But it was obvious that in the eyes of the Wolf Tribe, she was just an old witch.

"Unless..." Lang Chi's gaze fell again on the trembling little Marmot Beastman in Tang Ruan's arms.

Tang Ruan stared at him nervously.

Suddenly, two faint "buzzing" sounds interrupted her train of thought.

She looked down.

She discovered a wasp by her feet.

She narrowed her eyes slightly, grabbed the wasp, and pressed it against her own arm.

"Hiss..."

The wasp drove its stinger into her flesh.

The pain almost made Tang Ruan jump up.

Only a few seconds later, her skin swelled up as if it had been injected with water.

"Poisonous insects live on blood, and the insect-repellent belt reduces their desire to feed."

"But if they are provoked, they will still attack."

Tang Ruan moved her palm away; the tender white arm beneath her palm was already red and swollen.

The wasp had been crushed into pieces by her, so it was impossible to tell if it was the same type of poisonous insect that had "bitten" them.

Seeing the shock in Lang Lie's eyes.

Tang Ruan pulled his wolf paw and placed it on her slender arm.

The scalding heat transferred from her skin to his palm.

The inside of the arm is the softest part of a Female Beastman's body, which only a Beast Husband can touch; how could she...
