13: Chapter 13 Concluding a Contract

Tang Ruan: "... Children really do have vivid imaginations."

Over the next few days, the Wolf Tribe was busy searching for suitable caves in the forest, and the Marmot Beastmen were also busy packing their belongings.

The prey given by the Wolf Tribe was simply too much.

Fruits could be dried into fruit jerky, but meat spoiled easily without being cured.

The air was already faintly filled with the smell of decay.

Tang Ruan decided to go to the Creek to find some salt and spices to make spiced meat jerky.

In the past, she only had five chickens and couldn't bear to eat them.

Now, she could finally say she had achieved freedom to eat meat.

As Tang Ruan walked, the steps for making meat jerky appeared in her mind.

Her Supernatural Ability could actually be used for cooking? It truly pleased "this Empress".

Tang Ruan arrived at the Creek and saw a giant brown wolf from afar.

Its front paws were on this side of the Creek, and its hind paws were braced on the other side, struggling to span the narrowest part of the stream.

With all its might, it propped itself up to form a bridge.

From time to time, wolf pups would jump onto his back.

"Ugh!" The brown wolf gave a muffled groan.

The pups ran across happily.

Tang Ruan: "..."

Lang Chi saw Tang Ruan and awkwardly squeezed out a smile.

"Hi! Little Female Beastman. Look, our Boss is punishing me!" He said, raising a front paw to greet her.

Immediately after, there was a splash.

Lang Chi fell into the water. In an instant, like an ant in a hot pan, he sprang out.

"So hot, so hot!"

"Hmph!" Tang Ruan curled the corners of her lips imperceptibly.

Lang Chi: "..."

"Serves you right..." Her voice was extremely soft as she turned and walked to the other side.

Little did she know, wolf beasts had excellent hearing.

Lang Chi: He had completely offended her.

Tang Ruan searched by the Creek for a while. Most of the spices she needed were gathered, except for one that wasn't enough in quantity.

She was just about to give up... "Do you want to go check the other side of the Creek?"

Tang Ruan looked up and met Lang Lie's ice-blue eyes.

For some reason, she remembered that dream before she transmigrated.

Her ears felt a bit hot.

"No need, it's almost enough."

"If you pick more at once, you can make fewer trips." He knew she hated them, but he couldn't help wanting to get closer.

Tang Ruan admitted he had a point, but... before she could get the words of refusal out.

Lang Lie had already transformed into a giant silver-gray wolf, his upper body crouching on the ground.

His wolf head rested on the ground, forming an angle suitable for climbing.

For a moment, all the Wolf Tribe Beastmen by the Creek looked at her.

Lang Chi was even more shocked, his mouth wide open.

Tang Ruan: "..." What is he doing!

He didn't need to do this; she could get up there on her own.

He had lowered his posture so much; if she didn't get on, it would seem like she was not giving the Wolf Tribe any face.

If she ended up being resented by someone... Tang Ruan had no choice but to climb up.

"You can hold onto my ears."

Tang Ruan: "Okay." Such a peculiar request.

Lang Lie leaped lightly and reached the other bank.

Lang Chi watched their retreating figures, taking a long time to manually close his mouth.

Has the Boss gone crazy? The etiquette he just showed the Little Female Beastman was clearly the etiquette for a Mistress.

Is he playing for real?

Just like last time, Tang Ruan gathered, and Lang Lie followed suit right beside her.

Before long, various herbs and spices were piled up to half her height again.

"These herbs, you didn't pick them last time; what are they used for?" Lang Lie pinched a small, bright red, strip-shaped fruit and sniffed it.

"Achoo!"

"Pfft!" Tang Ruan couldn't help but laugh.

"That is wild chili; I'm picking these to make meat jerky."

"Meat jerky?" Seeing Lang Lie's cold eyes suddenly become as clear as a college student's.

Tang Ruan explained, "Something delicious."

Remembering the delicious food she made not long ago, the fragrance had even drifted over to the Wolf Tribe's side.

Lang Lie swallowed his saliva subconsciously.

Tang Ruan: "When I succeed in making it, I'll share some with you." Just as a repayment for him bringing her over.

Hearing that she would share with him, Lang Lie immediately lost his composure and smiled exceptionally brightly.

"Really? You want to give me some to eat?"

"Yes, for you."

"You... you don't hate me?" He squatted down beside her and asked cautiously.

The obedient expression made Tang Ruan have the urge to pet his head for a moment.

How could such a fierce giant wolf show eyes like a puppy?

"I wouldn't say I hate you." Tang Ruan analyzed rationally, "If I were you, I would also do my best to secure survival for the tribe members.

Besides, these few incidents... were all done by Lang Chi."

Whether it was trying to bite them to death or ambushing them, that bastard did it all!

"On the whole, you are still a reasonable Beastman, you just can't control your subordinates."

Lang Lie nodded, like a student who had made a mistake.

He explained, "The old patriarch is Lang Chi's father. Lang Chi was injured in his childhood and lacked strength, so the old patriarch handed the position of patriarch to me.

But he still has some influence in the tribe. However, you are right; I will manage them strictly in the future."

Tang Ruan stopped pulling wild ginger and stared at him blankly.

What does his obedient expression mean? Did he take the wrong medicine?

Seeing she couldn't pull it out, Lang Lie reached out, gripped her hand, and gave a hard tug.

The wild ginger came out, and Tang Ruan also fell backward with the momentum.

His other hand appeared just right behind her, supporting her.

Tang Ruan: "Th... thank you."

"You don't need to say thank you to me."

He was too close to her, and he was still holding her hand. He smelled of sunshine, and Tang Ruan felt a bit hot again.

Why does it feel so ambiguous? This wolf, he wouldn't have taken a fancy to her, would he!

No, she must lock her heart and seal her love.

The Fortune Teller did say that this world is full of peach blossom tribulations, and none of them end well.

She pulled out her hand, stood up, and ran a little further away.

Lang Lie: "..."

Lang Lie looked at her retreating figure and laughed self-deprecatingly.

"She really doesn't remember anything."

On the night Tang Ruan was unconscious, he had transferred honey water to her using his mouth.

Suddenly, a bright light shone from her wrist.

A pale red wolf fang mark appeared on the inside of her wrist.

Just like that, she became his Mistress, and he became her Beast Husband.

Under normal circumstances, one can only form a bond by drinking the Male Beastman's blood during the ceremony.

But according to legend, there are also Beastmen who love each other and, under the blessing of the Beast God, successfully form a bond while skipping this step.

They actually encountered this one-in-ten-thousand probability.

However, the Beast God seems to have made a mistake.

She doesn't love, she even, hates him...

Lang Lie escorted Tang Ruan back. They ran head-on into Potato and Hongshu holding hands.

Potato suddenly became very busy, looking at the sky one moment and looking for something on the ground the next.

If it weren't for Hongshu standing there foolishly, she would have run away long ago.

Potato: Oh my! Why doesn't Mom let Tang Ruan know that she is already the Mistress of the Wolf Tribe leader?

No wonder Mom dared to let the Wolf Tribe stay.

The problem is that Lang Lie doesn't seem to have said anything either. Is he trying to hide it from Tang Ruan for a lifetime so he won't be manipulated?

And Tang Ruan... so stupid! It's one thing not to know what kind of beast she is, but to form a bond with someone and not even feel it!

Want to say it, want to say it right now! It's really suffocating her!

Tang Ruan saw Potato so anxious she looked like she was about to dig a hole. She thought she was still embarrassed about the "kissing" incident.

She turned and entered the cave.

"You can just leave the things at the entrance."

Lang Lie: "Okay."

"Potato! Call everyone to come and help; we are going to make something to eat."

"Okay!"

After Potato left, only Hongshu and Lang Lie were left looking at each other.

Hongshu suddenly felt a bit of sympathy for Lang Lie.

He had figured it out; Tang Ruan didn't like the Wolf Tribe leader at all.

However, this couldn't be blamed on her.

The Wolf Tribe leader was tall and fair, with such big eyes and such a high nose bridge; he wasn't good-looking at all.

He must be afraid of humiliating himself, which is why he didn't dare to tell Tang Ruan!

Hongshu walked over and patted Lang Lie's arm.

"Don't be afraid! An ugly husband will always have a day to meet his Mistress..."

Lang Lie: "..."

Tang Ruan and everyone worked hard for a whole day.

The meat was marinated, and she was also "marinated".

In the evening, she went to the spring to take a bath.

By the moonlight, she suddenly discovered a small triangular red dot on the inside of her wrist that wouldn't rub off no matter how hard she scrubbed...
