Opening the scroll and seeing an agreement with twelve trade companies willing to pay a 18% profit tax and their yearly profit, which is fine. I can't bleed out the trade companies, as once I take over the whole land. They will improve my people's lives. If I tax the crop out of them, then no one would want to do the job.

The rest of the agreement was that the city taxes on goods would be kept at reasonable levels. They are paying slightly more than when they were under the kingdom's rule. But their profit tax was cut in half.
