Chapter 281: Cleaning Up The Devouring Petal Pavillion

The restaurant was enveloped in a deafening and unnatural silence.Blood fell from broken chairs, cracked tables, and bodies scattered across the floor. The wooden planks beneath Liam’s feet were painted red, and the smell of spilled blood mixed with the scent of cooked meat still lingering from earlier meals.

Half an hour. That was all it took to clean them all up. Tens of them had all rushed at him but he had taken them down with even a drop of blood of his clothe. This was even with the fact that they were all highly skilled.

Every assassin on the main floor lay dead. Some bodies were split cleanly in half. Some were missing limbs. Some had collapsed with their throats sliced open. Others had no wounds at all, but their necks were twisted at odd angles.

It looked like a small battlefield. Liam stood calmly in the center, with his sword lowered by his side. His steps were slow and steady as he walked through the scene.

He turned toward the second floor, where a group of figures stood behind the railing. Five men and one woman. The true executives of the Blackstone City branch of the Devouring Petal Pavilion.

They had been watching him fight the entire time.

They didn’t move. Neither did they speak. They simply watched him as he took down the assassins under them, while they all were unable to do anything to stop him.

Liam rested the flat side of his sword on his shoulder.

"You all saw everything," he said calmly, looking up at them. "So tell me... who sent you after me?"

One of the men stepped forward. His face was rough, his eyes cold, and his long coat was stained with dried poison. His voice was low.

"You really do deserve your name," he said. "Mad Demon."

Liam scoffed lightly. "Mad Demon this. Mad Demon that. Who gave me such a name?"

The man continued, "You killed the assassins downstairs like insects. Good skill. But you think that gives you the right to question us? You’re too young to understand what kind of place you just stepped into."

Liam tilted his head with a bored expression. "Are you going to answer my question, or are you just here to talk until I fall asleep?"

The room tensed up immediately. They had watched Liam fight and they saw how strong, and ruthless he is. But they felt that no matter how strong he is, he must be tired from fighting so many people.

But Liam’s confidence is telling them that maybe they are wrong.

The woman at the back shifted slightly. Her eyes narrowed in calculation. The other four men tightened their grip on their weapons.

The man in front sneered.

"You’re arrogant. You barged into the pavilion’s headquarters. You slaughtered our low-rank assassins. You act like you’re in control, but you don’t even know your situation. You’re the one in danger."

Liam lifted his sword off his shoulder.

"That so?" he asked. "Good. Then I won’t feel bad when I start breaking bones."

Before any of them could react, Liam vanished.

A gust of wind slammed into the railing and the entire structure shook.

The executives blinked, searching for him—but he was already behind the first man.

"You talk too much," Liam said quietly and his sword flashed once.

A clean cut ran across the man’s chest. The man screamed and flew back into the wall, crashing through wooden beams and landing in a heap.

The remaining five froze in shock.

"That was your strongest?" Liam asked, stepping forward.

They all knew that it was not a question. It was mockery.

The woman’s eyes widened as she realized how fast Liam was. She whispered, "He’s not at the level we expected."

The other four snapped out of their shock and rushed forward.

One came from the left with a curved dagger.

One jumped from above, aiming for Liam’s head. One threw poisoned needles in a wide spread. One rushed from the right, palm glowing with qi.

They moved together without shouting or signaling. Years of teamwork showed instantly.

They were fast, strong and deadly.

But Liam didn’t step back. He didn’t dodge and he didn’t defend.

He moved forward, straight into all of them at once.

The first man slashed at Liam’s throat. Liam caught the dagger with his fingers that had his telekinetic field wrapped around it and applying pressure, he crushed the blade. He spun and kicked the man across the room.

The second man landed above him but Liam raised his hand and grabbed his ankle mid-fall, slamming him face-first into the wooden floor.

The needles reached him next.

Liam flicked his fingers and the air trembled. The needles curved in another direction and struck the wall instead.

The man with glowing palms struck at Liam’s side. Liam stepped in and kneed him in the stomach. The man vomited blood instantly.

Liam didn’t give him a chance to fall.

He grabbed the man’s hair, lifted him like a sack of grain, and threw him into another executive.

Two bodies crashed into each other and hit the wall.

The woman took two steps back. Her fingers twitched near the hidden sleeve of her robe. A concealed weapon.

But she hesitated, A she knew he was waiting.

Liam turned slowly, eyes cold.

"That’s four down," he said. "Two left."

The one he had slashed earlier tried to stand, with shaky legs and blood dripping down his chest. He raised his sword and charged again with a scream.

Liam kicked off the ground and in the next heartbeat, he was behind the injured man, and he swung his sword once.

The man collapsed and the woman remained.

She backed away until her back hit the wall. Her breathing grew fast. Her hands trembled because she understood the danger she was in now.

She hadn’t just watched Liam defeated the five executives she would have problem fighting against if they grouped up against her. They were all late stage foundation establishment realm experts.

She had also watched him defeated the branch leader, a peak foundation establishment realm expert that’s on the verge of forming his own core, so easily.

She couldn’t believe how stupid they all were, thinking they could easily kill monstrous entity like Liam. It was just too stupid of them.

Liam wiped his sword on a tablecloth and she watched every motion.

"You’re the last one," he said. "You can talk now."

She didn’t answer. Her eyes darted toward the window behind her.

"Don’t," Liam said simply.

She froze.

He didn’t threaten her but something in his tone made her realize that if she tried to escape, he would end her before she took a single step.

Liam approached her slowly.

The broken bodies of her comrades were scattered around the second floor. The building creaked from the damage. Blood dripped down the walls.

He lowered himself to her height and asked, "now, tell me who put in the hit order?"
