Chapter 58: Unwanted Attention

Liam got out of the car and walked to the garage’s interior door, pulled it open and walked into the mansion.

He walked to the living room and sank into a sofa, letting out a deep sigh. He enjoyed the drive he had just taken.

The thrill he felt when the car was going at its top speed of 255mph was mind blowing. The amazing feeling as he felt from the rush of adrenaline as he did those sharp turns and watched his surroundings flash by in a blur.

It was a really addictive feeling. Like a junkie finally getting his fix. Only now did he truly understand why boys loved drag racing so much, and why movies with top-tier racing scenes never failed to sell.

He enjoyed everything but there was one thing he didn’t enjoy. The attention. When he received the car, he knew that it was something amazing but he had no idea that it will blow up this much, and people would tail him.

The tailing started immediately when he pulled back onto Rodeo Drive. At first, it wasn’t noticeable due to the fact there were other cars around but he started noticing when he pulled into the quieter and more secluded streets of Beverly Hills.

The followed him and only seem to stop a some distance away as he pulled in into Bellemere.

Seems like this is something I will have to get used to if I want to continue driving the LM-X around, Liam sighed.

He sank further into the sofa as he decided to relax for a while, as he think of what to do next.

As his thoughts were drifting, he heard a notification sound from his phone and he looked at it.

"What the hell?" He frowned slightly, as he picked up his phone.

Harper had sent a message to the group chat and had tagged him. And the content of the message was a screenshot of the bold headline of an online article from a popular site. And under the message was the site’s link.

The headline of the article reads:

P1 LM VARIANT PULLED INTO BELLEMERE MANSION. IS THE NEW OWNER THE SAME PERSON?

Liam clicked on the link and he was immediately taken to the site. And the first thing he saw was the bold headline. He didn’t bother with it, as he scrolled down, reading the content of the article.

"How was many minutes has it been and they have already put out such an article with detailed information? What the hell?" Liam chuckled dryly.

He actually has no idea how to feel right now or what he was feeling exactly. He felt amused, surprised and even scared.

For someone to be able to put together an article with so much information as this in less than five minutes... Liam really has no idea what to say.

It wasn’t just the article but also the images that were attached to it. It was image of the car from different angles. Not only that, but there was an aerial view image of the mansion.

"This people... They are crazy..." Liam muttered slowly, as he took another look at the article.

He noticed that the parts Bellemere Mansion was mentioned were in blue font. He clicked on it and he was taken to another article, and it bold headline reads:

$70M BELLEMERE MANSION PURCHASED BY TEENAGER

"What the...?" Liam muttered slowly, as he started going through the article.

A couple seconds later, he sighed and exited the site. He didn’t want to read anymore as there was nothing for him to see there.

Beside the fact that his name was in the article, the rest of it was just it describing the mansion and its history.

I see... So, that’s why the news about the property sales blew up the way it did.

Liam had no idea that Bellemere Mansion was never up for sale and the previous owner had rejected all the previous offers he received.

Well, that has never been any of my business, has it?

He decided to stop thinking about unnecessary things and focus on the present. But as if fate was against him, his phone buzzed with another notification.

He took a look at it and he saw that he was tagged by Elise in a message she sent in the group chat.

"You got mentioned by Bloomberg!!!" She captioned the message.

The content of the message was an article ran by Bloomberg and its headlines reads:

MYSTERY BUYER OF $70M+ BELLEMERE MANSION SPOTTED DRIVING UNKNOWN MCLAREN HYPERCAR.

Give me a break!, Liam sighed heavily.

He sent a tired face emoji as reply to the two messages and dropped his phone on the sofa. He never expected his day to go like this. All he wanted to was to just take the car out for a spin!

Liam decided to distract himself by thinking about other things and he remembered that he had planned to make a trip to Geneva, Switzerland during the week, to check the content of the safe deposit box locked away in the Rothschild’s private vault.

"Should I make the trip tomorrow? I can also spend some time over there. Maybe a week?" He thought to himself.

He has planned to go this week but he never decided on a particular day, but he decided that he will make the trip in two days time.

Before he leaves, he wants to prepare himself. The place he’s going to is a private vault that’s ran by one of the biggest families in the world.

Before he goes there, he needs to be at his best in all aspects—physically and mentally.

Liam decided to call David and inform him of his travel plans, so that he can make the necessary arrangements.

Meanwhile, in the living area of a certain mansion located in Beverly Hills, there was a tense atmosphere as a young man was being glared at by an older looking male.

"Are you seeing this?" Kevin asked angrily with a deep frown on his face, pointing at the article’s headline displayed on his phone.

The young man being glared at, Jason, lowered his head, with a sullen look on his face.

"F*cking look at me, you selfish, spoilt bastard. You wanted us to go after him? What do you think would had happened if we had gone ahead to do that? Were you trying to destroy out family?" Kevin said with a low voice burning with rage.

Jason couldn’t say anything. No, he didn’t dare say anything or even raise his head. He knew just how much his second older brother hates his guts and he won’t pass up any opportunity to hit him.

"I once told mom that you will be the one to bring ruin to our family with the way she was spoiling you, and treating you like an egg. Just look at the end result. Take a good look at yourself and tell me what you have managed to achieve," Kevin said, and his voice became even lower.

"Nothing! Besides constituting nuisance everywhere, partying and sleeping around with different girls like a man wh*re. You have achieved absolutely nothing!"

Jason was hurt by Kevin’s word but he didn’t dare say anything and could only bite his lower lip, with his head still lowered.

The next moment, someone walked through the front door and when he noticed the atmosphere in the living area, he sighed.

"Cut him some slack, Kevin. You have already chewed him out enough," Chris said, before walking up the stairs.

Kevin glared at Jason one more time and said, "You really are a piece of work but I will make sure you’re never my problem."

After saying that, he left Jason alone in the living area.

Jason seeing that he was finally alone, sighed heavily in relief and sank into the sofa.

F*ck! Who would had thought that random kid was actually someone of high status? F*ck! F*ck! "F*ck!!!" He screamed out the last part loudly.

"What’s wrong with my baby boy?" A matured female voice sounded from behind him.

"Nothing, mom," Jason replied.

"Are you sure? If anyone troubled you, just tell me and I will have them dealt with immediately," his mom said.

"No, mom. Nothing happened," Jason said with a smile, as he looked at the beautiful face of his mother.

"That’s good. Always remember that mama is always here for you, baby," his mom said with a smile filled with motherly warmth, before walking up the stairs.

Ahhh... F*ck me sideways.
