114: You go and jump over to the other side.
The suddenness of the sneak attack, combined with the nearly unsolvable Warp Engine jumps, dealt a devastating blow to The Consortium fleet.
The Consortium's main fleet ultimately failed to withstand the siege of the three fleets.
First the Battleships, then the Battlecruisers, followed closely by the cruisers,
Each time the alert "Enemy ship appeared" sounded, it was inevitably accompanied by news of a Warship losing contact.
Furthermore, as the battle progressed, thousands of replenished fighters joined the fray, beginning to frantically harvest the engines on the field.
When the last large Warship was rendered immobile and then pierced straight through by a beam of light from an unknown source, Gould really couldn't hold it in anymore—
He didn't understand why a massive two-to-one advantage had turned into such a disaster.
He stood with his hands behind his back, straight as a rivet driven into the deck—
The full-screen red projections from the control console cast upon his deeply lined face, making his ashen complexion look particularly ferocious.
The Cogitator arrays had long since overloaded, and the speed at which the ship's Mechanics were frantically replacing parts could not keep up with the rate at which they were burning out,
Parts, sedatives, and organic components were all in short supply,
Two of the three layers of Shield had been breached, leaving only the Void Shield still operational,
Five bright white and four dark red ion beams clung tightly to the Void Shield like welding torches, sending ripples across the thin barrier.
The only good news was that there were two canisters of void energy left to maintain the Void Shield, but the price of using this thing to block all attacks was that the favor could no longer launch any attacks outward—
The principle of the Void Shield was to use a generator to form a membrane connected to the void, isolating the enclosed space from the outside and casting everything that touched the Shield into the void,
Nothing could get in from the outside, and nothing could get out from the inside.
"The left flank fleet has lost all contact!"
"A large number of torpedoes are approaching from 9 o'clock at 98 degrees!"
The Tactical Officer continuously reported the status of the battlefield,
After all the large Warships had fallen, those smaller Warships couldn't even make a splash; destroying them was just a matter of convenience.
Gould waved his hand, interrupting the Tactical Officer, and looked at the Damage Control Director, asking:
"Are the engines repaired yet?"
The Damage Control Director took off his headset and replied:
"Almost. Fortunately, the Void Shield was activated in time; the main engine only took about twenty missiles,"
"The damage control team is working at full capacity. If nothing goes wrong, it will be back to normal in 15... 10 minutes."
Gould nodded and breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, the enemy didn't have technology that could counter the Void Shield.
Although he didn't know where this group that attacked Ursa Major V12.22 had gotten these Warships that could jump around,
he only knew that he was safe for the moment.
As for revenge?
Facing an overpowered fleet composed of seven relic Battleships that could jump laterally, Gould could tell at a glance that he had definitely been dragged into some damn political struggle again—
Normal rebels couldn't possibly have this kind of combat power, and people with this kind of combat power wouldn't become rebels.
After cursing internally, Gould couldn't think of any way to deal with it,
so he could only think of a way to get out first...
As long as he stayed in this damn place for another ten minutes...
"Why is this thing like a tortoise shell, impossible to break no matter what?"
Pulse beams, ion beams, torpedoes, missiles...
All attacks vanished into thin air 100 meters above the Warship.
Suddenly, the communicator rang. Xi Hai answered it—it was White Shark.
"Commander! That Warship's Shield is a Void Shield!"
"Normal weapons can't break it!"
An anxious voice came through, and upon hearing this, Xi Hai thought,
What do you mean normal weapons can't break it?
That means I need abnormal weapons, right?
"White Shark, do you know how to break that tortoise shell?"
White Shark thought for a moment and replied:
"According to standard weapon science, this kind of Shield can be broken with a high-yield void fission bomb,"
"But the required yield... might be a bit large."
"However,"
"According to unofficial history, the Second Era void bubble torpedoes can jump directly into the void, bypassing the Shield to strike the hull directly."
Xi Hai: ...
"Is this unofficial history of yours more true or more unofficial?"
White Shark:
"Probably more true. The reason this claim is doubted is mainly because no one has ever tried using that kind of super strategic deterrent weapon left over from the Second Era to hit a small ship with a Void Shield."
"But this is theoretically sound!"
Xi Hai acknowledged this and hung up the comms.
Theoretically sound?
Since it can jump in through the void, what about warping?
Xi Hai suddenly had a bold idea:
He called Gunnar, who was still waiting in the rear—
"There's a very Boarding Actions-heavy mission!"
"Bring your team over!"
"Everyone come on the norma m470! We'll need the Warp Engine on it!"
An excited voice immediately came from the other side:
"Yes!"
On the warp lane, five heavily modified norma m470s were traveling.
On the lead ship, all 5,475 members of the Ultramarines were squeezed into a large hall.
Their Commander—Gunnar—wearing a flashy suit of powered armor, was conducting a pre-battle briefing.
He looked at the crowd below.
After the first battle, most of them had matured quite a bit.
Everyone's powered armor had been embedded with quite a few glittering little accessories—especially the two wings flanking a skull on their chests.
The special customization service provided by 8225 had received unanimous praise from the members.
And the 15 "refrigerators" in the back; everyone was fighting to play with those things (except for the guy whose main body was stuffed inside), but in the end, they were given to the severely wounded amputees—
because a genius wounded soldier who had all four limbs amputated gave the reason that "they are more used to the feeling of having no limbs," which immediately killed any competition.
"Ahem!"
Stopping his wandering thoughts, Gunnar coughed lightly twice.
The crowd below instantly quieted down.
"Everyone, answer me!"
"What are we—"
"—The Ultramarines!"
"Our slogan is—"
"—Every footprint is an epic! Every sacrifice is a hymn!"
"Our role is—"
"—The blade of the battlefield! The vanguard of Boarding Actions!"
"On the battlefield, if we are crushing the enemy—"
"—Boarding Actions to expand the advantage!"
"If the battle is deadlocked—"
"—Boarding Actions to break the stalemate!"
"If the battle is unfavorable—"
"—Boarding Actions to turn the tide!"
"Good! Very spirited!"
Looking at the cheering crowd, Gunnar gently raised his hand to calm them down.
"I won't say much more!"
"When we conduct the Boarding Actions later, pay attention to teamwork!"
"No one is allowed to fight alone!"
"Especially the dreadnoughts... refrigerators!"
The crowd below immediately responded in unison:
"Yes!"
Soon, a white light flashed again, and the five norma m470s arrived at the battlefield.
All personnel boarded modified Shuttles and returned to their own ships.
Gunnar opened a communication channel with Xi Hai—
"Commander! The Ultramarines are in position!"
"Ready to depart at any time!"
Xi Hai looked at Gunnar in his red cape on the screen, inwardly lamenting that apart from the height, he was really becoming more and more similar.
He just didn't know if this guy liked to fight one-on-one.
He said:
"The enemy ship has a tortoise shell,"
"Now I need you to use the Warp Engine to calculate the landing point accurately, jump inside, and then seize the enemy ship."
"Can you do it?"
Gunnar answered loudly without any hesitation—
"Yes!"
"Good! Depart immediately!"
"Yes!"
