86: I'm thinking of giving your appearance a super WAAAAAGH makeover!
(Celebrating another explosive update thanks to a generous tip from the big shot 2S38)
(Debt has reached 11 chapters again)
"Full body cleaning complete."
"Decontamination in progress."
Inside the positive pressure chamber of the Shuttle, Gunnar stood there quietly, as several mechanical arms sprayed jets of water, washing away all the pus and gore from his body.
Subsequently, a mist of disinfectant sprayed from every corner, filling the chamber and gently licking at the heavily worn shell of his powered armor.
"Decontamination complete. Safe to proceed."
"Pfft——"
The door to the positive pressure chamber opened, and Gunnar slowly walked out——
A guy who had removed his powered armor helmet had been waiting at the entrance for quite some time.
Gunnar recognized him; they had happened to chat while learning to operate the Warship, and this guy had been assigned to the storm.
The man walked up to Gunnar, bowed slightly, and introduced himself:
"Hello, I am the temporary Communications Officer on the storm. You can call me 8225——that's my serial number."
"The Commander sent me to meet you."
Gunnar gently grasped the extended hand and shook it a few times.
"I am Gunnar."
"Do you know why the Commander is looking for me?"
This question left 8225 completely baffled, and he asked:
"You don't have a clue about the WAAAAAAGH things you've done?"
"Are you oblivious?"
Immediately after, as if thinking of something, he became excited,
"The entire Bridge of the storm was stunned by your actions!"
"Seriously, it was so cool!!"
Gunnar hurriedly waved his hand,
"I think... it was alright, right?"
"Just a bit of dirt on the hem, that's all."
8225 completely ignored the humble-bragging from the guy in front of him, and cast his gaze onto the powered armor on Gunnar's body——
The state of that armor... its surface was covered with numerous scratches and holes left by insect limbs, and there were large, charred burn marks on the back.
High EQ: A very realistic, high-combat-damage wasteland paint job;
Low EQ: How is this piece of crap still functioning when it's so wrecked?
Although it looked like it had been through a bitter battle, it was just too dilapidated——
8225 felt that this was no way to go and see the Commander.
He estimated that if Gunnar went straight onto the storm, he would at most report a few words to the Commander, wouldn't even get to show his face, and would be out after just going through the motions.
But fortunately, he had considered this issue when he came, and now he was well prepared——
"Brother Gunnar, wait a moment,"
"I reckon you can't just go and see the Commander wearing this,"
"Seeing you all dirty and messy,"
"He will most likely be concerned about your condition and will send you off to rest after just a few words."
"That's not good,"
"I reckon you need to make a lasting impression on him."
8225's words sparked some curiosity in Gunnar, and he asked:
"A lasting impression? How do I make it lasting? Change into a new set? But there is no new powered armor here, is there?"
The face beneath 8225's armor flashed a wicked grin; it was as if one could feel his smugness through the helmet——
"Don't worry! I prepared for this on the way. Leave the look you'll have when meeting the Commander to me! Brothers! Bring it up!"
As he spoke, the two crew members behind him brought out two small boxes.
Seeing 8225 being so professional, Gunnar felt this guy must be reliable, so he obediently cooperated——
Large scorched marks on the back? Simple. 8225 directly hung a whole red cape onto the shoulder pauldrons on both sides of Gunnar, covering the entire area behind him;
Scratches where the paint was scraped off? Also simple; just paint some strange little patterns with pigment;
Those scratches and holes that were poked in? This was a bit difficult, but not impossible. Thus, countless small decorations of all sizes were fixed onto Gunnar's powered armor through a series of methods like hanging, pasting, and welding.
Finally, only the trickiest part remained——on the breastplate of the powered armor, there were two large scratches that almost spanned the entire piece of armor, looking very unsightly.
Damn, this is hard to fix. 8225 frowned. Was he really thinking too simply? There was definitely no time to replace the breastplate now.
As he thought, his gaze suddenly turned to the two boxes containing the modification tools. Three seconds later, his super brain provided a solution:
Thus, the golden alloy box was cut open and reshaped. In less than three minutes, a pair of golden wings appeared in his hands——it was an image he had seen in some magazine, one that looked incredibly badass.
After welding this pair of wings on, Gunnar's breastplate finally looked like something.
But 8225 still felt something was missing in the middle... What was it? Oh! Right! He also needed an icon that could make enemies fear! If it represents death and destruction... then let's go with a skull!
Subsequently, between the two wings, a skull relief cut from a golden alloy plate was added.
Finally, the modification of Gunnar's image was complete. 8225 stepped back a few paces to admire his finished product——
"Hmm, absolutely perfect. If you go see the Commander like this, you'll definitely shock him out of his mind! I guarantee he'll never forget you for the rest of his life! It looks so damn cool! Take a look?"
Gunnar faced the mirror 8225 had brought over and moved his body slightly. Hmm, it was indeed not bad.
The huge cape behind him just dragged on the ground and didn't get in the way at all; the small golden metal pieces, the red sash... numerous small accessories perfectly covered the bullet holes and scratches on the armor; and the skull relief sandwiched between the two wings on his chest not only made the awkwardness of the scratches disappear but also caused his presence to 'whoosh' and be elevated by a huge margin——this was just too WAAAAAAGH!!!!!
He felt as if the Chainsword at his waist was also trembling slightly, echoing his point of view in its own way.
"This is just awesome!!! Thank you so much!"
Just then, the Shuttle slowly sailed into the storm's internal Shuttle dock. After loudly expressing his thanks, Gunnar walked to the door of the Shuttle.
Just as the cabin door was about to open, 8225 behind him suddenly shouted: "Wait! Take off your helmet! You need to let the Commander remember your face!"
Gunnar was stunned, but then realized it made sense. He casually took off his helmet and tossed it backward, "Alright! Thanks, brother! That helmet is yours!"
——The door of the Shuttle opened completely, and Gunnar walked out in a few steps, boarding the transport under the guidance of the port personnel.
As for 8225 behind him, he looked at the dented and battered helmet in his hand. Well, it was a gift from that heroic man, so he might as well keep it! Consider it a collection!
