...The Shuttle rose steadily, then with a "whoosh," it flew forward—

It was at this moment that Xi Hai finally understood why the ceiling of this space station was built so high.

“Supreme Director, I mainly have two matters I'd like to report to you,”

“First is the Human Federation's laws. We have already made adaptive modifications to several of the main branches, and they now meet our current operational requirements.”

“The books that can be put into immediate use are the 'Human Federation Constitution', 'Human Federation Criminal Law', 'Human Federation Genetic Law', 'Human Federation Citizenship Law', and the 'Human Federation Organizational Structure Law'.”

“Based on my own understanding, I have edited or deleted some content that is currently unachievable,”

“The remaining clauses are very much in line with the current situation and the ideas you hold. I believe they can be used directly.”

“Would you like to review them?”

As soon as Keith spoke, he gave Xi Hai a shock—

So fast? It's only been a few days, hasn't it?

However, regarding the review... Xi Hai originally wanted to say there was no need. After all, compared to Keith, a law student from the second era, he was a total novice; even if he read it, he probably wouldn't understand it.

But on second thought, what if there was something Keith hadn't noticed that he might catch?

“Send a copy to my office later.”

After saying that, he asked casually:

“By the way, I'm a bit curious,”

“What is the fundamental guiding ideology of the Human Federation's legislation?”

“Oh, and don't use technical jargon; just explain the essence of it.”

Keith paused for a few seconds, seemingly in thought,

“Broadly speaking, law is actually a tool for managing society,”

“This boils down to the Human Federation's sociological theories—”

“In this area, the orthodox view of the Human Federation is that within the 'human' species, when the number of individuals gathered together reaches a certain amount,”

“In order to maintain the stable operation of the collective and the effective mobilization of group power, every individual gives up a portion of their own rights,”

“And these rights voluntarily surrendered by individuals do not disappear; they aggregate to form social public power,”

“And law, regardless of the era, is a form of manifestation of social public power.”

“Its primary purpose is to maintain the survival of the collective, both internally and externally.”

After listening, Xi Hai asked:

“Then, if a law is created for the purpose of maintaining a certain privileged group, is its existence reasonable?”

Keith smiled and replied:

“Principal, your question is too broad,”

“If viewed from the perspective of the logic of emergence, the existence of such laws is absolutely reasonable.”

“After all, throughout most of human history, the main force determining the law has been privileged groups—the Human Federation's history books explain that from the earliest 'Divine Right of Law' to subsequent forms like 'False Democracy', it can all be verified;”

“And looking at the present, can you say that the laws of any regime in the Order Alliance do not exist to maintain a privileged group?”

“Just as the Empire exists to maintain the legitimacy of their Emperor, and the former Consortium was to maintain their Yu...”

“No,” Xi Hai interrupted him, “I'm not talking about the logic of emergence,”

“I'm talking about the logic of existence.”

Keith was taken aback, then realizing the point, he immediately smiled again,

“If it's the logic of existence, then it's certainly unreasonable.”

“A law intended to maintain social stability can only function as such when the vast majority of people in society deem it 'reasonable',”

“Otherwise, its only effect is to make existing problems sharper and more bloated.”

“At least during the Human Federation era, when citizens faced such unreasonable laws, they would feel that the rights they handed over to society were being violated and would take actual measures to resist.”

“As for laws intended to maintain the survival of a civilization...”

Suddenly, an alarm sounded from the Shuttle:

“Unreasonable sound waves detected. Please cease speaking to avoid beyond-visual-range strikes from Shenhe.”

“Reiterating: cease the transmission of unreasonable sound waves.”

Well then, any more and the book will be gone.

Hearing the alarm, Keith stopped immediately, while Xi Hai waved his hand and said:

“Fine, talk less about such things in the future.”

“Didn't you say there were two things? What's the other one?”

Keith nodded,

“Sorry, I didn't think it would come to this.”

“The other thing is that our administrative structure has already begun operating at Tianjin Seat V89.”

“We followed the 'Human Federation Organizational Structure Law' to make certain adjustments to our grassroots structural forms, and the architecture has now been completely finished in 300 star systems,”

“In addition, there are over 200 star systems belonging to Tianjin Seat V89 that were just recovered, and over 300 star systems belonging to Tianjin Seat V91 that Oran quietly snatched back during this time,”

“Since there are almost no people there and transportation is very inconvenient, we are using the original 'Human Federation New Territory Pioneering Act' while organizing population migration.”

“How is the applicability?”

“The results are okay, except the order to 'exterminate all aliens' hasn't been very well-received on some planets where humans still survive,”

“Not very well-received?” Xi Hai looked puzzled. “Are you saying there are cunning aliens disguised as humans who dare to mingle among us and disrupt our order?”

Keith nodded and said:

“Yes, and of course, the accompanying fleets think so too.”

That's good then, Xi Hai thought.

Setting aside the fact that this universe has technology for consciousness transfer, those who look like humans on the surface could indeed be aliens in disguise;

And from another perspective, when aliens occupy human planets, they generally launch massacres,

And those who can survive an alien massacre and even form a symbiotic relationship with them afterward—

Don't even think about it; these guys are definitely heretics who betrayed humanity, perhaps even despicable wretches who only gained the chance to survive at the hands of aliens by selling out their own kind.

“That's good—let them continue doing that.”

“The Human Federation is the senior of all humanity; in handling external incidents, we should follow its example.”

Just as Xi Hai finished speaking, the Shuttle beneath their feet suddenly stopped—

They had arrived.
