155: Brother
The two clashed fiercely once again, the battle becoming increasingly intense.
Even though Xu Jingzhe stored a vast amount of energy within his body, it was not enough.
The two fought from daytime until nightfall; Xu Jingzhe was severely injured, with his bones fractured in many places.
If not for his golden pollution core having mostly recovered, allowing him to mobilize some of its energy, Xu Jingzhe would have already been killed by Zhang Manyue.
"Zhang Manyue!" Xu Jingzhe roared. Even though he had been beaten to this state, he still dared not use his full strength.
Time and again, he wanted to awaken Zhang Manyue.
"Boom!" Xu Jingzhe was struck down once more, crashing into a tomb built of giant stones, coughing up large mouthfuls of blood.
Zhang Manyue's expression was indifferent, the red light in her eyes flickering ceaselessly.
Under the moonlight, her exposed skin shimmered with a cold white light, cold and sexy.
Stepping with the Celestial Maiden's Drunken Steps, Xu Jingzhe had no choice but to attack without holding back.
"Bang!", "Bang!", "Bang!" Xu Jingzhe unleashed heavy blows, attacking Zhang Manyue with eighty-one punches in total, each one fiercer than the last.
Furthermore, he incorporated the Old Art taught by Avril; the residual power of the eighty-one punches dispersed everywhere before suddenly erupting and striking Zhang Manyue squarely in the chest.
"Pfft!" Zhang Manyue flew backward, blood spilling from the corner of her mouth as she fell far away.
She stood up, the strange red light in her eyes vanished, and looking at the rushing Xu Jingzhe, she spoke: "Brother?"
Xu Jingzhe was stunned and stopped, looking at her.
Suddenly, tears streamed down Zhang Manyue's face.
"Brother." "Brother." She opened her arms, ran over, hugged Xu Jingzhe tightly, and cried incessantly.
For a moment, Xu Jingzhe was at a loss. Zhang Manyue's abnormal change was too fast; he hadn't reacted yet.
He could only gently pat her back, saying, "It's alright, it's alright."
"Brother, why are you so silly?" "Why did you save me?" "Why did you save me..."
Zhang Manyue cried for a full half-hour, her eyes red and bloodshot. Seeing Xu Jingzhe covered in injuries, she suddenly felt embarrassed.
She hadn't done it on purpose; another violent personality within her body had controlled her, causing her to lose all recognition of her loved ones.
Xu Jingzhe sat there, his werewolf recovery ability circulating throughout his body, healing minor injuries in an instant.
Fractured bones did not heal as quickly; without external treatment or using the energy stored within his cells, it would take three or four days to recover.
"You called me brother just now?" Xu Jingzhe asked.
"I remembered past events; my memories have returned." Zhang Manyue said sadly, her eyes full of memories: "The first time I saw you in the Pollution Zone, an inexplicable sense of familiarity had been lingering in my heart."
"I always wanted to get close to you, to protect you."
"It wasn't until I woke up from a mysterious green liquid two days ago that I realized not only had my memories returned, but my strength had become even more powerful!"
"My body, from the inside out, the attributes of the materials have undergone... a significant increase."
Zhang Manyue looked at Xu Jingzhe, her eyes red, and continued: "My head is still a bit messy, let's talk about things one by one."
"Actually... I am not human; I am an artificial human. From head to toe, only my brain belongs to me, while everything else is crafted from high-tech materials."
"I didn't scare you, did I?" Xu Jingzhe shook his head and smiled at her.
"Now that my memories are back, I understand that your back profile is almost exactly the same as my brother's; this is also the reason why I kept following you."
"The artificial human technology on Blue Star is not yet mature, and I am a first-generation artificial human, so there are many problems."
"In my mind, there would always be a cold voice commanding me to kill, and a gentle voice telling me to control myself."
"I know that voice came from my brother..." Zhang Manyue said a lot; thinking of her brother, the corners of her mouth curled up involuntarily.
In the second half of the night, Zhang Manyue gradually fell asleep, leaning on Xu Jingzhe's shoulder, sleeping exceptionally sweetly.
Xu Jingzhe looked at the full moon in the sky, his thoughts drifting far away, thinking of Ye Zi, his eyes squinting into little crescents.
The sun rose in the east, and the two set off together, both in exceptionally good moods.
The mountain of Black Mountain could not be seen to its peak at a glance, shrouded in black clouds and mist, pitch-black like ink.
After traveling for a dozen miles, the two discovered a huge lake. The lake was clear and transparent, with a giant python coiling in the center, its scales menacing; it looked like a very powerful entity at first glance.
"This giant python is already starting to show signs of transforming into a dragon; look at the two protrusions on its head, they are half a palm high." Xu Jingzhe exclaimed.
Zhang Manyue's pretty face was serious; she felt the pressure from the giant python, its fierce and malevolent aura overbearing.
The two steered far around it, not daring to disturb its slumber. However, the giant python still discovered them, its head as large as a car protruding from the water, its eyes as big as lanterns, staring at the two.
Zhang Manyue drew the Black Gold Long Saber, her momentum rising as she locked eyes with it.
The giant python stared at Zhang Manyue and Xu Jingzhe for a moment, then sank back into the depths of the lake, appearing no more.
Both let out a long sigh of relief, feeling very fortunate; if a fight had really broken out, they might not have been a match for the giant python.
Half an hour later, the two discovered another spider as large as a house; its body was seven-colored, shimmering with strange luster in the sunlight, and the spider silk it spat out was thicker than an infant's arm.
They still chose to avoid it from afar, but Xu Jingzhe couldn't help but take a few extra looks.
"Something's wrong!" Xu Jingzhe had sharp eyes and discovered the unusual aspect of this colorful spider.
The spider had eight legs, two of which were particularly small, appearing very abrupt.
Xu Jingzhe changed his position, and now he could see clearly; the spider's two small legs had been modified, the cyan legs emitting a cold radiance.
The spider's long legs moved, and the two dared not stay long; even with a belly full of questions, they had to leave immediately.
After walking another twenty miles or so, they encountered another behemoth.
This was a lion larger than an elephant; its long fur could not hide its modified metallic limbs as it lay there, sleeping with its eyes narrowed.
Its tail flicked from time to time, looking exceptionally leisurely.
"This mountain... could it have been occupied by some major family from the Four Main Cities?" Xu Jingzhe muttered, feeling some unease.
These animals, no matter how much they mutated, couldn't turn into metal, right? This was simply too outrageous!
Moreover, these animals did not appear to be long-lived; which of them could survive for many years?
Walking cautiously for hundreds of miles, they encountered many animals, all of whose bodies had been modified to a greater or lesser extent.
After walking another forty or fifty miles, the two stopped in their tracks simultaneously.
On a giant boulder stood a woman, her long hair fluttering in the wind, her hands behind her back, gazing into the distance.
