83: Blue star update period
Chapter 83: Blue Star Update Cycle
The area he entered was a massive, square plaza, stretching out of sight, paved with stone slabs made of the same material as the pyramid.
In the very center of the plaza stood a four-story high tower. Its base was circular, with layers stacked upon it, each smaller than the last, totaling four stories. In the center of the topmost layer, a five-meter-high stone stele was erected.
All four sides of the stone stele were also covered in mysterious writing and graphic symbols.
Because the distance was too great, Xu Jingzhe had to walk forward to see clearly.
As he walked, he wondered why he couldn't see Yezi and the others in such a huge place.
Even if they had been separated by ten minutes or so, it was impossible for them to vanish into thin air in this vast plaza.
Upon approaching, he realized that the edges of the four circular bases were also covered in carvings of text and patterns.
The first base depicted a sun the size of a washbasin, surrounded by countless Stars of various sizes.
Several of these Stars were particularly conspicuous, being raised and hemispherical, while the others were sunken reliefs.
The raised Stars featured even more detailed carvings, showing the shapes of continental plates, and the sizes of rivers and oceans.
Xu Jingzhe paused. He saw a Star that was extremely familiar.
Blue Star!
The reason Blue Star was called Blue Star was that the majority of its surface was covered by water.
He stretched out his hand and slowly touched the carving. The instant his skin made contact with the stone, it was as if a small electric current ran through his entire body.
Simultaneously, the Star carvings on the first layer of the base began to emit a grinding, turning sound.
A faint rumbling sound came from above.
He looked up and was greatly startled. Countless spherical objects of various colors were descending from the sky, densely filling the entire plaza. At his current speed, there was no way he could escape.
Taking a deep breath and gritting his teeth, he knew he could only endure it.
However, the expected spheres did not crash into Xu Jingzhe; instead, they passed right through his body.
They quietly suspended themselves in the air.
He couldn't tell if the spheres were transparent or if Xu Jingzhe himself was transparent.
Five minutes later, this rain of spheres paused, and the plaza was transformed.
This place had become a part of the cosmos, a partial simulation of the Galaxy.
Xu Jingzhe stood in the middle, feeling as if he were in a dream.
These were not mere spheres; they were clearly Stars, scaled down proportionately.
From a distance, he looked like a giant standing in the cosmos, surrounded by shimmering Stars.
A watery-blue Star was right before his eyes, only the size of a thumb, operating according to cosmic laws. Surrounding the watery-blue Star was another small Star, almost negligible in size, which permanently faced only one side toward Blue Star.
Xu Jingzhe knew this was the Moon.
He extended his palm, placed it beneath Blue Star, and slowly moved it upward, as if lifting Blue Star.
And Blue Star truly moved upward slowly following his action, changing its original position.
"What an incredible scene simulation, it makes you feel like you're really here," Xu Jingzhe muttered to himself.
When he removed his palm, Blue Star returned to its original position, rotating slowly.
He tried it with other Stars, and the result was the same: pressing his palm down made the Star descend, and lifting his palm made the Star rise. The only difference was the lack of tactile sensation.
"Can I zoom in?" Xu Jingzhe wondered.
He placed his index finger on Blue Star, brought his thumb close, and performed an expanding gesture.
"Whoosh!"
Suddenly, Blue Star occupied most of the center of the plaza, while all the other Stars scattered to the side, giving Blue Star the absolute center stage.
A nearly realistic Blue Star appeared before Xu Jingzhe, who looked as tiny as an ant in comparison.
Blue Star filled his pupils, shocking him profoundly.
He seemed to hear the sound of the ocean crashing against the shore, the roar of volcanoes erupting, the whistling of typhoons over land... He seemed to see the lights of the Wan Family homes twinkling like Stars. He saw spring flowers covering the earth, the land donning a new floral shirt... Everything felt incredibly real.
Xu Jingzhe was immersed in the scene, unable to pull himself away, remaining silent for a long time.
Blue Star was truly beautiful back then!
Reluctantly, Xu Jingzhe stretched out his hand and performed a shrinking gesture, and Blue Star returned to its original position.
Following this, he performed an enlarging gesture toward the Sun.
Instantly, blinding light erupted. The intense glare made it impossible for him to open his eyes; he felt like he was going blind.
Terrified, he quickly made a shrinking gesture, and things returned to normal.
Having learned his lesson, he did not dare try it with other Stars, worried that something he couldn't control might happen.
Looking once again at the familiar yet strange Blue Star, Xu Jingzhe enlarged it.
However, he keenly noticed that the continental plates, several particularly tall mountain ranges, and rivers on Blue Star had changed compared to the last time.
"Blue Star, a planet harboring advanced life, has existed in the Solar System for forty-six billion years."
"According to the development of cosmic laws and timelines, the civilization level on Blue Star should have reached an unprecedented degree, resulting in a super civilization."
"The emergence of a super civilization would inevitably lead to the plundering of resources from other Stars in the cosmos to nourish the mother planet..."
A cold, mechanical voice sounded in Xu Jingzhe's ear, seeming to introduce Blue Star or perhaps recount a story.
"However, there seems to be a restriction on Blue Star that prevents the development of human civilization, which we Mayans named the Blue Star Update Cycle (this is merely a conjecture; future generations seeing this can only treat it as a direction for research). It is precisely because Blue Star has an Update Cycle that the development of civilization stalls after reaching a certain level, and then... destruction..."
Before the voice finished speaking, all the spheres suddenly floated upward and gradually vanished, and the plaza returned to its original appearance.
Such a realistic and magnificent scene simulation had a time limit.
Only Xu Jingzhe, looking utterly bewildered, remained.
What the heck was that?
Blue Star Update Cycle?
Isn't that like teaching advanced mathematics to kindergarteners? Even a genius couldn't understand it.
"Hey, big brother, are you awake?" Xu Jingzhe asked in his mind.
"?"
"Don't be like that. You must be interested in this."
Unfortunately, the System remained completely silent.
With three remaining layers and the stele at the very top, Xu Jingzhe wanted to move but didn't dare.
After pondering for a long time, he decided he couldn't waste too much time on the unknown. The most important task right now was finding Yezi and the others.
Xu Jingzhe strode away, bypassing the four-story high tower. After walking several hundred meters, he turned back and took a long, final look... Meanwhile, outside, even more people had gathered.
The Sun had long set, and the ruins were no longer visible from a specific location, having vanished from this space as if they had never appeared.
"What should we do? How do we get in without an entrance?" someone asked loudly.
"Let's use meteorite bombs and blast this spatial structure apart!" suggested a person from the Chemical Zone.
The meteorite bomb he mentioned was extremely expensive to manufacture, with meteorites as its main material.
The destructive power of a small-scale explosion was considerable; it could affect the spatial rules within the blast radius, causing a few seconds of spatial chaos.
If they were lucky and the explosion hit the weakest point of the spatial fold, the hidden space might naturally reveal itself.
After all, a hundred years ago, Blue Star had only expanded so much because nuclear weapons had blasted open some of the vulnerable restrictions.
