84: Simulated robot
Chapter 84: Simulated Robots
Xu Jingzhe advanced very quickly, leaving the four-story stone pagoda in the center of the square far behind in a few minutes, turning it into a mere speck of light.
The square was silent.
It was filled with desolation and bleakness, as if... it was meant to be.
Finally, half an hour later, a city appeared before his eyes, surrounded by a wide river.
At the very center of the city was the tallest building, very conspicuous. With this tallest building as the core, the height of the surrounding buildings progressively decreased, with the outermost ring being the shortest, single-story houses.
The materials used for the tall buildings were the same as those on the surface of the pyramid: earth-yellow, smooth as a mirror, with time unable to leave any trace on their surface.
Approaching closer, the river surged with turbulent waves, white foam crashing against the banks, sparkling beautifully.
There was only one way to enter the city: a large bridge spanning the river, connecting the city to the outside.
“Dilisi?” Xu Jingzhe tried to communicate with the Red Rose Squad again.
Unfortunately, there was still no sound coming from his earpiece.
Ever since entering the pyramid ruins, the miniature earpiece's communication function had become useless.
After crossing the elevated bridge, a wide road led directly into the heart of the city, with many branches extending from it. Both sides of the road were lined with various ancient trees, their leaves rustling in the gentle breeze.
As Xu Jingzhe walked among them, it gave him the illusion that this was just an ordinary city, much like the Seed Zone where he had lived for many years.
Suddenly, he saw a figure in the distance, leaping and bounding across the rooftops, rushing towards him from above.
Xu Jingzhe flashed, hiding in the nearest house.
On the rooftop, the sound of footsteps landing could be heard; the black-clad man had already swept past.
Watching his retreating figure, Xu Jingzhe confirmed that it was indeed one of the people who had come in with Lu Xiaoxiao and her group.
He quickly followed.
The place the black-clad man went was none other than the cross-river bridge.
He landed at the very end of the bridge, took out a black rectangular object from his bag, and pressed it into a hidden spot. Due to the distance, Xu Jingzhe couldn't see clearly.
He installed more than ten of them, from one end of the bridge to the other, then checked them again to ensure everything was in order before leaving.
After the black-clad man left, Xu Jingzhe appeared and found the black rectangular objects.
They were bombs!
One could imagine that if the five people from the city, including Ye Zi, walked onto the bridge, and the bombs exploded simultaneously...
Not even bone fragments would remain.
Xu Jingzhe gasped, a chill running down his spine. Indeed, no one who messed around in the Pollution Zone was a pushover.
When unsure of one's ability to defeat an opponent, underhanded tactics were a necessity.
Xu Jingzhe dismantled the hidden bombs one by one, tossing them into the surging river.
Clapping his hands, he walked directly towards the tallest building in the city... inside the First Tallest Building.
Third floor.
Lu Xiaoxiao and her group were astonished by the technology displayed here. Currently, it was definitely no less advanced than the technology of the four major main cities on Blue Star.
Rows of intelligent robots had skin tissue that was the most natural, almost like human skin.
These 'human skins' could regulate their own temperature according to the environment, and test the oxygen content and toxic gases in the air. Not only that, but the thin layer of human skin tissue had extremely strong corrosion resistance and impact resistance; bullets couldn't even penetrate it.
When they first entered, several people were startled, thinking they were 'humans' in hibernation.
After observing for a long time, they determined they were not humans but robots, because they had charging interfaces at the back of their heads. The text recorded on the nameplates on their chests was also ancient Chinese, which Lu Xiaoxiao and her group had all studied.
The energy used by these robots was electricity, the easiest natural energy to obtain on Blue Star. It was extremely difficult for robots running on simple energy to maintain so many 'parts' inside and on their bodies.
“How about we try to see if these simulated robots still work?” Zhou Bo suggested, his eyes gleaming.
If the robots could operate normally, and they could find a way to use them, they would be a dependable group of obedient 'advanced' enforcers.
“Are you crazy?!” Lu Xiaoxiao shouted, “No one knows what programs these robots are running. If we activate them randomly, what if they attack us?”
Zhou Bo snapped his fingers and said, “That’s why I brought a computer programming expert. He was thrown into the Pollution Zone, which stimulated his talent in this area.”
A middle-aged man stepped out, named Liu Xiao.
His overall qualities were average, and his combat power was lacking.
However, among the dozens of people present, he could claim to be second, and no one dared to claim first.
“That’s still not acceptable. We are currently facing a system with a higher technological level than ours. No matter how talented he is, he shouldn’t tamper with it casually.”
“Our purpose here is to find useful resources, not to fall into danger.” Lu Xiaoxiao’s words implied absolute obedience from these people.
“Miss Lu, nothing ventured, nothing gained. We Contaminators can’t compare to you all.”
“Every single thing here could become our wealth, or something to save our lives.”
With that, Zhou Bo gestured for Liu Xiao to open the central control panel.
“Beep!”
On the central control panel, a blue light screen lit up, with the screen projection floating ten centimeters above it, controllable by buttons. The entire room seemed to come alive; lights automatically turned on, instruments for regulating temperature, humidity, and scent activated, and the room’s comfort level instantly improved.
“How is it?” Zhou Bo asked.
“I’m looking for instructions on the robots.” Liu Xiao’s hands tapped quickly on the screen. As his fingers landed, the blue screen rippled like water, with blue light slowly spreading out.
Lu Xiaoxiao and a few others exchanged glances, deciding not to leave for now.
They had entered the third floor from the first floor. The doors on each level were tightly shut, and they had relied on this computer programming genius to get in.
Five minutes later, Liu Xiao exclaimed in surprise, “Found it!”
Zhou Bo immediately gathered around and asked, “Can these robots be used by us?”
Liu Xiao frowned and said, “I’ll try. It’s very complex programming.”
Just then, one of the robots, whose eyes were closed, suddenly opened them, a blue light flashing in its eyes before disappearing.
“Da da da…”
The person didn’t even react, getting riddled with bullets from the gun barrel that rose from the robot’s shoulder.
It turned out that someone on Zhou Bo’s side, out of curiosity, had carelessly pressed a button on one of the robots.
“Warning, intruders detected.”
“Warning, intruders detected.”
The transparent door of the room instantly closed, and all the robots woke up at the same time.
“Ye Zi, Dilisi! You two fall back and assist us!” Lu Xiaoxiao yelled loudly.
Zhou Bo was also stunned for a moment, cursing, “You son of a bitch…”
“Da da da…”
“Bang bang bang…”
Bullets sprayed, impacting various metal platforms, sparks flying everywhere.
Zhou Bo pulled Liu Xiao over, protecting him.
He knew that without Liu Xiao, none of them would be able to get out.
