11: What gift should I give?
A strange melancholy rose in Wu Fan's heart, as if the whole world had shattered.
He looked again at the snowman, missing limbs, then shifted his gaze toward the distant sea.
In the past, he had been so persistent and invested in love.
He naively believed that as long as he gave his true heart, they could stay together forever, but in the end, he realized it was only a dream.
A dream from which he quickly woke up.
He exhaled a mouthful of smoke and saw Zhang Yingying walking toward him, waving her hand.
Today, she was wearing jeans and a white down jacket, looking fresh and beautiful.
Her figure had excellent proportions, curvaceous, a natural clothes rack. It seemed that any outfit she put on instantly looked high-end.
“Brother Fan, why are you spacing out? Here's some hot soy milk, drink it quickly. It won't taste good when it gets cold.”
She stepped onto the bus steps and sat down on the seat behind Wu Fan.
Wu Fan took the soy milk, inserted the straw, and began to sip it slowly.
Zhang Yingying took off her down jacket and started eating a rice ball.
Wu Fan said, “Such a big appetite? Can you finish one rice ball?”
Zhang Yingying was stunned, and retorted, “Are you implying that I eat too much?”
“Eating well is a blessing. I just don't understand how you maintain such a good figure.”
Zhang Yingying chuckled, “I'm naturally thin, but I also practice yoga regularly.”
Wu Fan suddenly got a dirty idea and joked, “I heard there's a type of yoga specifically practiced for lovemaking. Have you practiced that?”
Zhang Yingying's pretty face flushed, and she said, “Yes, I have. Do you want to practice together tonight?”
Wu Fan laughed heartily, “Forget it, my old back can't handle it. I only want to practice pile driving.”
“Huh?”
“Figure it out yourself. I used it last time when you were drunk.”
Zhang Yingying raised her hand and hit Wu Fan's shoulder, covering her face, not daring to look at Wu Fan. Her earlobes were already red with shame.
When they arrived at the entrance of the B&B, the tourists had already packed their luggage and were waiting.
After visiting the sights, they would have lunch in the county town and return directly, without going back to the B&B.
Wu Fan got out of the car and opened the side luggage compartment.
The morning schedule was tight; the tourists had a 12 o'clock ferry back, and time needed to be reserved for lunch.
Therefore, Wu Fan drove the vehicle slightly faster.
As a result, an old man said with a very hostile attitude, “Don't drive so fast! If something happens, can you afford the consequences?”
Wu Fan was stunned for a moment after being shouted at like that.
He had just been thinking how well-mannered everyone was, and now an old man like this popped up.
Zhang Yingying reacted quickly. She gently patted Wu Fan's shoulder, signaling him to keep calm. Then she explained to the guest the reason for the slightly faster speed.
However, the old man, feeling justified, continued loudly, “If time is tight, why didn't we leave earlier? Most of us got up before four o'clock.”
Zhang Yingying just smiled and said, “Understood. We've already asked the driver to slow down, okay?”
The old man continued grumbling in his seat.
Wu Fan merely listened to the old man's words, taking them to heart, and certainly wouldn't argue.
On one hand, the person was a guest, so he had to be tolerant. On the other hand, since he was an old man, he was considered his elder, so he had to show respect.
Besides, he had been driving for so many years, what kind of idiot hadn't he encountered?
At worst, he would just step on the brakes a few extra times during the drive.
He would make sure the tourists on this bus experienced the jerkiness of a luxury coach.
After dropping this group of guests off at the pier, Wu Fan took out a cigarette, smoked leisurely, and turned his head to see many people fishing at the dock.
Fishing for Sand Eel was quite common this season.
Wu Fan never went sea fishing and didn't know much about it, but he was quite familiar with Sand Eel. He usually cooked Sand Eel stew or baked it with taro, both of which tasted excellent.
After Zhang Yingying got on the bus, Wu Fan tossed her a cigarette and said, “Are they all gone?”
“Yes, they've checked their tickets and boarded the ferry.”
Back in the county town, after Wu Fan parked the bus, he insisted on dragging Zhang Yingying along to eat hot pot.
They hadn't had time to eat while the tourists were rushing through their meal.
Wu Fan ordered a lot of dishes in one go, which surprised Zhang Yingying: “Brother Fan, did you strike it rich? Why did you order so much for just the two of us?”
Wu Fan chuckled, “Who said this morning that she wouldn't get fat no matter how much she ate? Are you scared now?”
“Brother Fan, I just think it's wasteful. Your thought process is speechless.”
Wu Fan started adding ingredients to the hot pot base. “How about we go hang out at One Foot Sea Bar tonight?”
Zhang Yingying's face immediately flushed. She felt that Wu Fan's implication was that he wanted to relive their past intimacy, right?
Sleeping with Wu Fan last time, resulting in a one-night stand, was just a moment of impulse for her, a form of revenge against her Boyfriend for his infidelity.
Deep down, the person she cared about most was still her Boyfriend; she even hoped they could reconcile.
But the final result was tragic.
Her Boyfriend resolutely chose to break up with her, left this place immediately, and went off with his new girlfriend.
This caused Zhang Yingying immense pain.
That night, she had only used Wu Fan as a tool, an outlet for her inner pain, and nothing more.
“Brother Fan, what are you thinking? Last time was just an accident. I hope you can forget about it forever, okay?”
“The joy that is etched into my bones—you want me not to remember it? Isn't that too naive?”
Zhang Yingying was momentarily speechless after being countered.
After they finished eating, Zhang Yingying rushed to pay the bill, but Wu Fan laughed and said, “I already paid.”
With the consumption cashback system in hand, he didn't feel bad about spending any amount of money.
Zhang Yingying felt a warmth in her heart.
She knew Wu Fan's life had always been tight, yet his behavior today was so generous.
“Brother Fan, did the sun rise in the west?”
Wu Fan leaned close to her ear and whispered, “Mainly because I can't forget your tenderness that night.”
Zhang Yingying raised her foot and kicked Wu Fan's butt, saying, “Get lost!”
Wu Fan burst into laughter and waved goodbye to her.
He thought about the party at the bar tonight.
Qian Ning was so beautiful. If he could manage to pursue her, wouldn't that be incredibly satisfying?
The System might even give him a reward of fifty thousand or a hundred thousand.
What kind of gift should he give her?
After much thought, Wu Fan finally came up with an excellent gift, one that Qian Ning would definitely like.
He rode his electric bike straight to the music store.
Last night, Qian Ning's guitar performance was deeply enjoyable and created an emotional resonance for Wu Fan.
Today, he would buy a guitar for her.
The owner of the music store was called Dai Mao, which was, of course, his nickname.
In fact, what his real name was didn't matter at all anymore.
Wu Fan and Dai Mao had been friends for many years. When he had free time in the evening, he would also go to Fei Wei's bar to sing a couple of songs.
During the period immediately following Wu Fan's divorce, he practically spent every day drinking, singing, and chasing girls at the bar, which is how he met Dai Mao.
Wu Fan couldn't play musical instruments, but his singing ability was relatively well-regarded on this small island.
“Dai Mao, how is business?”
Dai Mao was holding a guitar and tuning it. When he saw Wu Fan, he maintained his original posture and didn't move.
He figured Wu Fan was just passing by as usual, only coming in for a quick chat, and didn't have anything serious to discuss.
“Business is just so-so. I sell guitars purely out of sentimentality; whether I make money or not doesn't matter. Just sit wherever you like.”
After Dai Mao finished speaking, he plucked the strings and softly hummed the tune of 'The Legend'...!
