8: Nanny? Car?

It was Wang Runmin who had returned.

This guy hadn't been seen for over half a year. Why return today of all days, not sooner or later?

He truly seemed capable of divination, deliberately coming to break up the couple.

Wu Fan forced a smile and said, "Long time no see. You're back."

Wang Runmin nodded, looked at the groceries Wu Fan was carrying, and asked, "What good dishes did you buy for dinner?"

"Chicken wings, live shrimp, spinach that Yaoyao loves, and a winter bamboo shoot stew with meat."

Wang Runmin, carrying his briefcase, chuckled as he walked up the stairs, "Didn't you hire a Nanny for your home?"

Wu Fan was speechless.

This comment made Wu Fan feel very uncomfortable; it sounded like he was being mocked.

If I had the money to hire a Nanny, I wouldn't be living in this rundown neighborhood.

Your business is doing well, Wang Runmin, and you're famous—so why are you also living in this shabby place?

Wu Fan boasted, "I hired several Nannies, but I fired them all. It's hard to find a decent Nanny these days."

Wang Runmin interjected, "As long as you offer a high salary, there are plenty of beautiful, young personal housekeepers in their twenties who offer comprehensive service and are guaranteed to satisfy you."

After he finished speaking, he turned back, winked at Wu Fan, and gave a lewd smile.

The hidden meaning was obvious.

Wu Fan simply said, "Oh," and didn't say anything more.

He had seen reports in the news about Nannies costing over hundred thousand a month, who would do anything asked of them—foot washing, massage, back scrubbing, cooking, cleaning, and even... everything was on the table.

Even having her feed him during meals was possible.

In this materialistic society, women who lose their moral bottom line and personal dignity for money are everywhere.

However, Wang Runmin's words planted a seed in Wu Fan's heart.

When the time was right, he really should hire one.

On the one hand, she could help take care of Yaoyao, and on the other, he wouldn't have to work so hard.

Fang Hanyu opened the door, and Wang Runmin gave her cheek a loud "smack" before entering the house.

Wu Fan and Fang Hanyu exchanged glances without speaking.

Fang Hanyu's cheeks were flushed. She greeted him with her eyes and gently closed the door.

That captivating gaze was very provocative.

Wu Fan paused for a moment before entering his own house.

He started the rice, then washed and prepared all the vegetables. Once he picked up Yaoyao and they were home, he could start stir-frying immediately.

He checked the time; he still had about half an hour of free time.

He took off his apron, went out to the balcony, and lit a cigarette.

Naturally, his gaze drifted toward the balcony of Fang Hanyu's home next door.

But there was no one there.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder; perhaps the couple was currently making passionate love.

Wu Fan felt bored. Why was he thinking about things like that?

They were a legally married couple; whatever they did was none of his business.

Besides, Fang Hanyu had been married for several years without having children; they really should put in some effort.

A family without children is bound to run into problems eventually.

Wu Fan exhaled a puff of smoke and looked toward the distant mountains; the accumulated snow was slowly melting.

The cold wind blowing in became even sharper. It was true that it's not cold when it snows, but it's cold when the snow melts.

Fei Wei called and said, "Brother, want to come hang out at the bar tonight?"

"Why? Are there any good-looking girls?"

Fei Wei laughed heartily, "Look at you! If there weren't any good-looking girls, do you think I'd call you?"

Wu Fan tossed the cigarette butt into the water-filled pot of potted ivy, which was already densely littered with butts at the bottom; they looked quite dirty floating on the surface.

But Wu Fan felt comfortable looking at them.

These cigarette butts represented his life, his worries, his sadness, and his memories.

"Stop bragging. It's always the same few older women, it's boring."

Fei Wei burst into laughter, "Wu Fan, if you don't come this time, I guarantee you'll regret it."

"Just tell me straight, where did this beauty pop out from?"

Fei Wei paused, then said, "Our bar is holding an event. We hired a third-rate female singer to perform for a week. Although she's not very famous, she is genuinely good-looking."

Wu Fan immediately became interested upon hearing this. "My brother remembers me after all. I'll be there on time after nine."

After hanging up the phone, seeing that it was almost time to pick up Yaoyao from school, he headed out and went downstairs.

At the stairwell landing, he ran into the girl with the braided pigtails again.

Wu Fan smiled and nodded, considering it a greeting.

He racked his brain for a long time before finally remembering her name: Lin Daixi.

This girl was stunning, naturally possessing a cold, aloof demeanor.

She must be going to Fang Hanyu's place for dinner. Since Wang Runmin was back, they must have prepared good food and wine.

Wu Fan couldn't help but look back at her figure; her physique was truly captivating.

Wu Fan pulled out a cigarette, put it in his mouth and lit it, blowing out a swirling puff of smoke.

This damned lust never changes.

By the time he reached the school gate, parents had already crowded the area densely.

They stared at the school's large iron gate, waiting for the little monsters to be released.

Wu Fan didn't push into the crowd; he just stood in a corner quietly smoking.

He and Yaoyao had agreed since the start of the semester that the spot where he picked her up would always be this exact location, unchanging for a hundred years.

Once she walked out of the school gate, she could head straight here.

However, Yaoyao was always a bit slow; she never rushed anything, and she always had to chat with her classmates after school.

Wu Fan never scolded her for it.

He always encouraged Yaoyao to make more friends and get along with every classmate; that was true skill.

Wu Fan saw Yaoyao come out, walking hand-in-hand with a female classmate.

The two girls were giggling, clearly having a great conversation.

"Daddy, her name is Sweetie. She's my good friend."

Wu Fan raised his hand and gently patted Sweetie's head. "Who is picking you up today?"

Sweetie looked around and said somewhat unhappily, "My mom hasn't arrived yet."

Yaoyao suddenly made a request, saying, "Daddy, it would be great if you had a car, then all three of us could sit down."

Wu Fan's heart tightened. He looked at the back seat of his electric scooter and suddenly felt a little embarrassed.

Looking up, most parents were driving cars for drop-offs and pick-ups.

Yaoyao had it rough, sitting on the back of the scooter in the middle of winter. It really shouldn't be like this.

He could only blame himself for being so incapable.

He secretly resolved that he needed to find a way to get a car sooner rather than later.

Especially on windy and rainy days, having a sedan would make things much better.

But he only had just over a hundred thousand left in his bank account, which wasn't quite enough. If he was going to buy one, he should buy a decent one and get it right the first time.

He still needed to hurry up and increase his capital and work hard to earn money!

"Yaoyao, you're right. Daddy will definitely work hard and try to buy a car within half a month, okay?"

Yaoyao clapped her hands happily and said, "Daddy is the best."

Seeing Yaoyao's expectant expression, Wu Fan smiled knowingly.

"Sweetie, Mommy was delayed a bit at the shop, I'm late."

Wu Fan saw a fashionably dressed woman standing in front of him.

The first impression she gave was of being stylish, elegant, and wealthy.

Wu Fan's gaze froze, and his Adam's apple involuntarily bobbed.

She truly possessed great charm...!
