25: Why is your head so pointy?

Early the next morning, Chen Kai opened his bleary eyes and reached out to touch the person beside him, almost out of habit.

"Hmm? Where did she go?"

Chen Kai paused, sat up, and found that the space beside him was empty.

He glanced at his phone on the nightstand, but there were no messages.

Did she just leave without a word?

"Sister Liu?"

He called out tentatively.

A few seconds later, the sound of slippers shuffling on the floor came from the kitchen.

"What's wrong? Is my little brother afraid I won't take responsibility?"

Liu Yunshang was wearing a white apron, leaning against the doorframe and teasing him, holding a spatula stained with a bit of oil.

"That's not it, I just thought you had gone to work."

"Soon. I'll go after we finish breakfast. I have to attend an industry exchange meeting today. Stop lazing in bed and get up to eat."

Liu Yunshang looked at him affectionately, then suddenly seemed to remember something and rushed back to the kitchen.

"Oh no! My eggs!!"

Chen Kai chuckled, amused by Liu Yunshang's comical appearance.

He simply got up, got dressed, turned off the alarm that was about to go off, and walked to the living room to light a cigarette.

"Click."

Chen Kai took a deep drag, and while breakfast was still being prepared, he searched online for the emperor taipings era currency copper coin.

A quick search revealed that there were many styles of the emperor taipings era currency, and the expensive ones could even be traded directly for a BMW.

The style he was looking to Score a Bargain on was just average. It depended on the condition and market demand. If the condition was good, it could fetch fifteen to twenty thousand; if it was average, eight thousand to thirteen thousand.

The system suggested a selling price of thirteen thousand. Since it could be tied to a keychain without anyone realizing it was valuable, its condition was probably just average.

"Average is fine. Can't ask for everything."

Chen Kai exhaled a thick cloud of smoke, stubbed out the cigarette butt in the little orange cat ashtray, and got up to sit at the dining table.

Looking at the lavish breakfast on the table, Chen Kai didn't stand on ceremony and started eating.

Liu Yunshang nibbled on her bread in small bites, holding that jade magazine and reading it with great interest.

Ten minutes later, Chen Kai let out a satisfied belch, said goodbye to Liu Yunshang, planted a parting kiss, and left first.

He searched for Dali Gymnasium on the map and found it was quite far from Qingshan Residential Complex.

It would probably take over an hour to get there on his Electric Scooter.

It was in the CBD area of Jiangnan City, surrounded by white-collar workers—finance experts, trade specialists, and masters of Stocks were all around there.

After entering the address, he went downstairs, got on his little electric donkey, and headed toward Dali Gymnasium.

...

Half an hour later, Chen Kai parked his little electric donkey in front of an upscale Office Building.

"Damn, this place is bustling."

Chen Kai muttered, followed the map's instructions, and walked into the Office Building.

When he reached the elevator, Chen Kai was once again shocked by the white-collar workers in the Office Building. The descending elevator stopped at almost every floor, and a dozen people were waiting at the elevator entrance, looking tense.

Each of them held a cup of coffee.

It was a good thing he was wearing formal attire today, otherwise he would have looked out of place.

As the elevator descended to the first floor, Chen Kai squeezed in with the crowd and pressed the button for the sixteenth floor.

"Ding! Arrived at the sixteenth floor."

It took Chen Kai quite a while to squeeze out from the back of the elevator, and he let out a few heavy breaths.

"Damn, it's so crowded. Sometimes delivering food isn't so bad."

He muttered and walked toward a Gym with glass doors, filled with various fitness equipment, and a plaque hanging above that read "Dali Produces Miracles".

"Hello, sir. Welcome to the Da~li! Produces Miracles Gym. You have a rather slender build. If you want to train to become a muscle god, I'm afraid you'll need a trainer to accompany you throughout your sessions."

"Our Da~li! Produces Miracles Gym has over a dozen trainers for you to choose from. We have handsome male trainers, strength-focused ones, and even blonde, blue-eyed female foreign coaches from Russia. Would you like to consider one?"

Chen Kai paused. Russia, tell me more.

However, he still shook his head. "Let me check out the equipment first. I'll come find you after I take a look around."

"Very well, sir."

The receptionist smiled slightly, as if he already understood Chen Kai's hidden agenda.

Many men used the excuse of going to the Gym to find a "workout buddy." If you know, you know.

Fortunately, there were quite a few beauties working out at their Da~li! Produces Miracles Gym, and many people who went in for a look never ended up leaving.

They wished they could live in the Gym every day to watch the beauties.

It's human nature.

...

On the other side, after walking into the Gym openly, Chen Kai first took a tour around the place.

The room was quite large, with plenty of equipment and quite a few people as well.

It was his first time in such a place, and he was full of curiosity about the equipment.

The bouncing on the treadmills, the splits and stretching in the relaxation area...

Hmm, nice to look at, love looking at it, and want to keep looking.

He just didn't know how his strength, built from delivering food every day for a year, compared to these muscle-heads.

He saw a muscular man in the Barbell area not far away, deadlifting a Barbell, his face flushed red from exertion.

It's just that his head felt a bit pointy.

Chen Kai walked over curiously, watching the pointy-headed muscular man deadlift a weight with four Barbell plates.

He also casually found a Barbell with four plates on it, preparing to give it a try.

"Brother, is this your first time here?"

The pointy-headed man put down the Barbell, let out a long breath, and shook his head.

"Yeah, it is. How could you tell?"

Chen Kai said calmly, though he was a bit curious about how the man knew.

"Man, you didn't even warm up and went straight to deadlifting 80 kilograms. It would be a miracle if you could lift that."

"I'm just trying it out. Thanks for the heads-up, brother."

Chen Kai said with a chuckle.

Immediately, he exerted force with both hands and found that the weight was fine, not as heavy as he had imagined.

He added another twenty kilograms of Barbell plates, and the weight of the Barbell became one hundred kilograms.

He pushed off the ground with his feet, exerted force with his arms, and lifted it easily.

Chen Kai played with it for a bit, then felt it was boring, so he turned toward the bench press area. He saw many people arriving with things in their hands, but coming out empty-handed.

"Holy crap! Wait a second!"

The pointy-headed man was a bit stunned. A newbie, first time, no warm-up, and he deadlifted a 100-kilogram Barbell that easily?

"Let me ask you, is this your first time at the Gym? If this is your first time, then let me ask you, how can you deadlift 100 kilograms?

Let me ask you, is this really your first time?"

Chen Kai paused, why was he answering his own questions incoherently?

He just responded indifferently and turned toward the Dumbbells bench press area.

The first thing he saw when he walked over was a girl wearing a sports tank top and yoga pants adding Barbell plates to a Barbell.

Her looks were actually not far off from Liu Yunshang's! She even had a hint of Liu Yunshang about her!
