26: Clear out the entire cabinet on the spot!
Chen Kai took a look and smiled.
There was a noble aura about this woman, one that belonged uniquely to high-end, elite professionals.
They say that for a beauty, one should look at the bone structure rather than the skin. Perhaps their bone structures were somewhat similar, though not exactly alike; it wasn't as if they were cut from the same mold.
Chen Kai didn't think too much of it and went to the storage area behind the Dumbbells bench press zone to take a look.
Sure enough, a locker labeled with the number 102 was emitting a faint glimmer.
Having confirmed that the item was still there and that he could Score a Bargain, the problem followed.
How could he claim this locker for himself?
With so many people around and others coming and going, picking the lock was definitely not realistic, and he didn't have the skill for it anyway.
Sometimes, a delivery guy isn't omnipotent.
Besides, trying to pick a lock in front of so many people—was he looking to taste a 50,000-volt metallic lollipop?
Chen Kai frowned and fell into deep thought, once again pulling up the daily intelligence system to take a look.
He quickly locked onto two words: it was during the cleaning of locker 102 that this set of keys was discovered.
Storage lockers in the Gym usually have a time limit, generally allowing items to be stored for three months. However, in most cases, as long as there are other lockers available, they wouldn't bother clearing out these long-unused lockers.
Chen Kai thought about it; there wasn't a good solution at the moment, so he might as well go to the front desk and fish for some information.
Since they needed to clear out lockers, it meant they likely didn't have many empty ones left.
With that thought, he turned and walked out of the storage room.
After taking only a couple of steps, he saw the woman in the sports tank top and leggings struggling to rack the Barbell.
She lay back down on the bench press leather seat.
Judging by the looks of it, she was definitely a "C" cup.
She had some real substance to her.
He shook his head with a smile and continued walking toward the front desk.
At that very next moment, Chen Kai heard a harsh, grating sound of metal colliding with metal, and the sound of sneakers frictioning against the floor.
Chen Kai turned his head out of curiosity and saw the girl in the sports tank top lying on the bench, her hands raised in front of her chest, with the Barbell pressing right against her throat!!!
Her face had turned quite red; it was obvious she had overestimated her own strength!
Such accidents happened frequently in the Gym. In the instant one gets pinned down, it's impossible to call for help; one can only wiggle their legs in an attempt to attract someone's attention.
Fortunately, there were many people in the Gym, so she could be rescued in time.
There have also been cases where people lost their lives due to increasing the weight on the Barbell bench press.
Chen Kai hurried over in a few strides to the girl's side and, meeting her pleading eyes, lifted the 55kg Barbell up with both hands.
He placed it on the empty space beside them.
The girl then sprang up from the bench, panting heavily, her restless, delicate hands constantly patting her chest.
"Th... thank you."
The girl in the sports tank top was having trouble breathing and said, stuttering.
"Don't mention it, it was just a small favor."
Chen Kai smiled faintly.
Forget about her being a pretty girl; even if it were someone with a pointy head who got pinned down, he would still have to help.
The woman took a long while to calm down before she gradually returned to normal.
She raised her pair of arrogant, cold eyes and took a serious look at Chen Kai for the first time.
"Hmm, I still want to thank you."
After saying that, she turned around, removed a 10kg Barbell plate, and continued to attempt the bench press.
Chen Kai shrugged and headed straight for the front desk.
"Sir, how is it? How is the atmosphere at our 'Great~ Strength! Miracles Happen' Gym? Does it meet your expectations? Would you like to sign up for a membership? Or perhaps find a professional female instructor to guide your training?"
The front desk receptionist asked excitedly.
Chen Kai touched the tip of his nose, putting on a thoughtful expression.
"Your equipment is quite comprehensive, and the environment is not bad, it's just that... I usually bring a lot of things when I work out. I took a tour of your storage room, and your lockers are too small."
"I'll think about it."
After saying this, Chen Kai silently observed the receptionist's expression.
He was taking a gamble—betting that for the sake of his performance metrics, he would be willing to do anything.
The front desk attendant bristled at the mention of this; how could he lose a customer over a storage locker?
Moreover, Chen Kai looked like a rich man; he was wearing Hermès and LV, with nothing on him costing less than twenty thousand.
This type of customer usually signs up for an annual membership, which is worth several thousand!
"Sir, our lockers are a bit small, but if you have a lot of stuff, you can just leave it at the front desk every time you come to train, and I will personally watch over it for you, how about that?"
"If you sign up for an annual card, I'll even throw in two private training sessions with a Russian beauty. Sir, why don't you consider it? Not having a place to put your stuff is hardly an issue."
Chen Kai still shook his head, using the classic three-step bargaining technique: find fault, haggle, and then walk away!
He had to walk slowly, waiting for the attendant to call him back.
"I'm not really used to leaving things outside. I think I'll go check out the place next door; I heard their lockers are bigger."
After saying this, he started walking slowly toward the door.
"Hey!! Wait! Sir, how about this: if you have a lot of stuff, we can just open two more lockers for you, right? That's not a big problem."
"Our Gym has exceptionally comprehensive equipment; you won't find another place with such a complete setup once you leave our store."
After saying this, the receptionist looked around with shifty eyes, and seeing no one nearby, he secretly covered his mouth and leaned in close to Chen Kai.
"I heard the place next door is about to go out of business; if you top up your card... I'm afraid your money will go down the drain."
Upon hearing this, Chen Kai immediately raised his eyebrows, putting on a surprised expression.
"Is that so?"
"For sure, it's all inside information!"
The receptionist gave him a knowing look, winking and signaling to him.
"If that's the case... then signing up for a card at your place isn't out of the question, but my fitness gear requires three lockers to fit. Does your store have that many empty lockers?"
Chen Kai asked the soul-searching question; things had come to this, he had to take the gamble.
Betting that he didn't have many empty lockers left.
The receptionist immediately understood and said, "Let me check for you and see how many empty lockers we have left."
The receptionist walked to the front desk and dug out a ledger from a cabinet.
He looked closely at the table; from locker 101 to 999, there was only one empty locker left.
"Oh no..."
The receptionist was suddenly a bit embarrassed, his brain frantically searching for how to secure this commission.
"Not that many? Forget it then. Sigh, I'll go check out other Gyms."
Chen Kai pretended to be indifferent.
"Wait! How about this: I can just clear out a few lockers on the spot for you. It's no big deal."
The receptionist immediately flipped the ledger to the first page.
The owner of locker 101 is an annual member who has been coming frequently these past two days; that won't work.
"102..."
"102 and 103 are fine! Both are monthly members who came to work out here last year but haven't been back in a year. How about this: I'll ask the manager for approval, then call the original owners of the lockers to clear them out as per procedure, and have them come pick up their stuff. How does that sound?"
